Amanda Peet welcomes her second daughter, Molly June
Berlinale 2010 - Please Give Screening

This is nice news today, although I’m sure everyone has already heard it: Amanda Peet gave birth on Tuesday, to her second daughter. Amanda and her husband David Benioff named their little girl Molly June Benioff. I like the name! Normal, yet not boring, with a touch of whimsy. Their 3-year old daughter’s names is Frances, but apparently everyone calls her Franny. Sidenote: When I was younger, I wanted to name my eventual daughter Franny because of the J.D. Salinger book. Amanda gave birth a little earlier than expected, and was scheduled to appear on David Letterman when she went into labor:

Amanda Peet ditched David Letterman on Tuesday for a good reason: She went into labor early and delivered daughter Molly June Benioff in New York.

The actress, 38, had been scheduled to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman to promote her upcoming film, Please Give, but instead welcomed her second child with screenwriter husband David Benioff late Monday, April 19.

“Mother and daughter are doing great,” Peet’s rep tells PEOPLE.

Peet and Benioff also have a 3-year-old daughter, Frances.

The star recently told PEOPLE she was excited to meet the family’s newest addition. “But there’s been a lot of fighting going on in my household over names,” she said. “Frankie is very excited. She just wants to call the baby Turtle.”

Peet’s film, Please Give, costarring Catherine Keener, opens in theaters April 30.

That’s good that she and the baby are fine. Honestly, I barely remembered that she was pregnant, though. Amanda’s been keeping a much lower profile lately, when I really had her tagged as one of the better actresses of her generation. And yet, somewhere along the line, I think Amanda kind of tagged as the poor man’s Jennifer Garner. They do look sort of similar, and they have a similar sort of wholesome, girl-next-door vibe. Anyway, congratulations to the happy family – and thanks for not actually naming the baby “Turtle”. You know Gwyneth is going to steal that name.

I find her husband very hot, in that slightly smarmy way that I like:

Amanda Peet: I want Gisele Bundchen or Jennifer Aniston’s body

peetself09

I hope I’m not alone in loving Amanda Peet. She’s been one of my girl crushes for years, solidified by her overlooked performance in the now tragically cancelled television show Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip. She and Bradley Whitford had so much chemistry together! I was looking forward to seeing where they’re relationship was going.

Despite my laments, Peet has never really broken into Hollywood in a big way. I still have hopes that someone will see the light and hire her for the role of Stephanie Plum, based on the book-to-screen adaptations of Janet Evanovich’s books. Amanda would be an excellent Stephanie – she looks the part exactly. But instead she’s stuck playing “the girl” in a big ugly disaster movie, 2012. Which is what she’s promoting with this Self Magazine cover story:

Amanda Peet is currently starring in a blockbuster movie (2010), has a talented husband (screenwriter David Benioff), an adorable daughter, and looks that land her on the cover of magazines.

So what more could she want?

“I want boobs, a gentle six-pack and a perky butt,” the actress, 37, tells the December issue of Self.

In fact, she even has a specific woman’s figure in mind. “If I could choose an ideal body, I’d take Gisele Bündchen’s,” says Peet. “I challenge anyone to say she wouldn’t want Gisele’s body, deep down.”

She then adds, “Actually, I’d take a number of people’s bodies. I’d take Jennifer Aniston’s, too.”

Still, when it comes to her keeping herself in shape, Peet doesn’t obsess. “To me staying healthy means doing everything in moderation,” she tells the magazine. “Eat a lot of greens, but in moderation. Exercise, but in moderation. Drink wine, but in moderation. Sleep as much as you can. And have people around you who are very funny.”

Peet gets plenty of laughs during date nights with Benioff. Typically, the pair stay home, order in food, and watch TV shows including South Park, Seinfeld, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

“I’m obsessed with Julia Louis-Dreyfus,” she admits. “If she knew how much she was in my household late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, she might be disturbed! David and I both have a crush on her.”

[From People]

I’d take Gisele’s body too – she has the kind of figure where you know most of it is genetic. My only qualm about Jennifer’s body (not referencing that Megan Fox movie) is that Jennifer seems to really have to work at it through lots of exercise and the neverending Zone diet. Gisele looks like she still eats hot dogs and corn chips.

Amanda also discussed parenting her gorgeous, adorable daughter Frankie, saying: “‘You have to put your oxygen mask before you put on others’. It’s a good metaphor for parenting, but it’s really hard to do sometimes. A lot of women feel that if they’re exerting energy in different areas of their life or are really passionate about other things, it’s automatically detrimental to the child.” Janet Evanovich, find this woman and make her play Stephanie Plum already!

The Kingdom premiere with Jennifer Garner, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

The stars were out for the premiere of the new terrorism-themed film The Kingdom in LA on Monday. Jennifer Garner looked stunning in a loose red dress with tiered layers. Jada Pinkett Smith’s outfit was a definite miss, though. She wore fuschia satin shorts paired with a matching jacket. She loves bright colors and looks great in simple dresses with shocking colors, but her look was just wrong. Her husband Will looked hot though in a quilted black leather jacket, shades and dark jeans.

I saw the trailer for this movie during one of my rare nights out when my husband and I went to see The Bourne Supremacy. It looks like a good intelligent thriller, and centers around FBI agents, played by Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman and Chris Cooper, trying to capture a lead terrorist after a civilian attack on the US. Watching the trailer gave me goosebumps and it hit too close to home for me as I lived right near NY when 9/11 happened. I’m not sure theater-goers are ready for that with the war still going on and touching so many people. (Not that there is any connection between the war and 9/11. It’s just that too many people have died recently through random acts of terrorism, and there’s a lot of that in this movie.) It looks like it provides the riveting story of the capture of a top terrorist, but I don’t think I would be able to watch it, even on DVD.

Here’s the trailer:

The Kingdom is getting decent reviews, and is said to be an action-packed film with a tight plot. It currently has a 60% aggregate critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Kingdom is out in US theaters on September 28.

Shown at the premiere are Jennifer Garner, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, a hot-looking pregnant Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Jeremy Piven looking beat, Amanda Peet, Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, and Jason Bateman. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.
