Baby Kardashian-West looks like Kim, weighs less than 5 lbs, will have a ‘K’ name

Kim Kardashian gave birth to a little girl yesterday. There was an onslaught of initial reports, and the whole thing reminded me a lot of when Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy (cough). I’m not saying there was a conspiracy, I’m just saying that with some of these celebrities, there’s hyper-drama when it comes to giving birth, and the general public tends to throw shade on whatever the birth choices are. And like Beyonce, Kim is sticking to the story that she gave birth naturally, and that she was five weeks early:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have welcomed their first child. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star delivered the couple’s baby girl on Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Los Angeles.

Kim gave birth at Cedars Sinai Hospital, the same place where her sis Kourtney Kardashian delivered her little ones, Penelope and Mason. And while it wasn’t clear if Kanye was in Los Angeles prior to the birth, given that he didn’t attend his Yeezus listening party last night, a source told E! News her rapper beau was right by Kim’s side during the delivery.

Kim was due to deliver the baby in July, but gave birth five weeks early. However, Kim delievered the baby girl naturally and both mother and baby are happy and healthy, E! News confirms.

A source tells E! News exclusively that the baby girl weighed in at “under five pounds” and is definitely a Kardashian Mini Me: “She has dark hair. She looks just like Kim.”

The proud parents haven’t revealed the baby’s name just yet, but a source tells E! News that Kim told friends and family in the weeks leading up to the birth that the name “will start with a K.”

The E! star has also told friends she and Kanye talked about using his late mom’s name, Donda, as the baby’s middle name.

[From E! News]

People Magazine has more details too – apparently, Kanye canceled his appearance at the listening session Friday night “15 minutes” before he was supposed to show up because he wanted to “be by Kim’s side”. Friday afternoon, Kanye and Kim had been spotted together at Cedars Sinai and an onlooker tells People that Kim “looked very exhausted and tried to be incognito… Kanye seemed very supportive. It looked like support in pain and labor.”

As for the other details… the baby weighed less than 5 pounds? That’s interesting, and I guess that means that Kim did go into labor weeks earlier than her due date. As for the name, I don’t mind the idea of “Donda” as a middle name. I think that’s sweet, and that’s where Kanye’s mother name should go. I think it’s ridiculous that Kim is insisting on a “K” name though. So, let’s get into it. What should it be? Krystal. Kassie. Kerry. Klassy. Kash. Keely. Kallie. Kadie. Kyra. Kitty. Keira. Katie. Kalinda. Kelly. Ugh. I’ll admit, I kind of love the idea of Kitty West. RIP MERCY.

L&S: Kim Kardashian wants a C-section, ‘she’s petrified about giving birth’

I know today feels like Kardashian Drama Overkill, but think of it this way – it’s going to be AWFUL when the baby is born. The drama will get taken to a really ridiculous level. There will be more magazine covers and tweets and photos and back-and-forth stories about what happened behind the scenes. So think of this is a preparation for the Gossip Marathon. Life & Style has a funny cover story this week – something about Kanye West wanting Kim to give birth naturally, and Kim’s birth plan involves drugs, a C-section and a tummy tuck. Once again, part of that is just subtext.

Let the parenting battles begin! As pregnant Kim Kardashian’s July due date creeps closer, it seems strong-willed Kim and father-to-be Kanye West aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on some very big decisions.

In fact, Life & Style has learned that the two have been bickering over the biggest decision yet: trying for a natural delivery, or to schedule an elective C-section.

“Kim told friends that doctors warned her she was likely to need a C-section,” a close pal of the reality star tells the new issue of Life & Style. “She can technically still have a natural birth, but they told her the baby was large and sitting in a way that applied pressure.”

Although sources say her sights are set on surgery — “telling her girlfriends at her June 2 baby shower that she is petrified about giving birth and would do anything for it not to hurt” — insiders are telling Life & Style that’s sparked a battle with the father of her unborn child.

“While Kim’s told Kanye that a C-section is what she wants, he’d prefer she did not have one,” says the pal. “He wants an all-natural birth. But Kim feels it’s her right to choose.”

After losing his mother to complications of elective surgeries, friends of the couple say, “Because of what happened with his mom, he’s really paranoid about medical stuff and he doesn’t want any unnecessary risk. As far as he’s concerned, surgery equals more danger.”

[From Life & Style]

I’ve discussed my feelings on childbirth often enough that you should know that I fear birth more than pretty much everything else. Which means that I have no shade or judgment for Kim if she has a C-section, whether it’s because of doctor’s orders or because she’s “too posh to push”. I will judge her a little if she gets a tummy tuck, but even then… it’s her body, her choice. Some women are just terrified of the pain. As for Kanye’s wishes… well, I’m thinking that in real life, Kanye really doesn’t give a crap what she does. He’s too busy picking up ladies using his new line, “I’m just with Kim for the publicity.”

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan welcomed a daughter in London last week

I’m kind of surprised that Jenna Dewan was the first of the pregnant ladies to give birth! I thought for sure it would be Busy Phillips, followed by Kim Kardashian, followed by Jenna and then Duchess Kate. But Jenna did give birth, and apparently it happened last Thursday! Channing Tatum and his wife have not released any details of the birth or even if it’s a girl or a boy. All we know is that Jenna gave birth in London.

Add Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum to the list of hot Hollywood parents! The couple welcomed their first child together in London on Thursday, May 30, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. The bundle of joy’s gender is not yet known.

Tatum, 33, and Dewan-Tatum, 32, announced they were expecting their first child in December. The couple met on the set of Step Up in 2006, and tied the knot in July 2009.

Throughout the pregnancy, the parents-to-be maintained their busy work schedules. “We’re going to actually have the baby in London while I’m shooting, and then there will be no downtime whatsoever after that,” Tatum told Ryan Seacrest in an interview about filming Jupiter Ascending in the UK.

Production of Tatum’s new film is set to move to Chicago in July, and his wife will begin work on her fall Lifetime series, Witches of East End, in Vancouver around the same time.

“The baby will get top billing as far as priorities go,” a source tells Us. “Channing is going to be the most adorable hands-on daddy ever and do whatever is necessary to make sure Jenna can balance it all.”

[From Us Weekly]

Eh, we’ll know the details soon enough. I’m kind of hoping it’s a boy just because I see their genes blending better with a boy, and because I think they’d be adorable with a son. But they’d be adorable with a daughter too, so whatever is fine. Congrats to Jenna and Channing! So, because the baby was born in London, does that mean the baby can’t be president one day? Wouldn’t it be awesome if they had a boy and Duchess Kate had a girl and one day those kids got married and the House of Windsor became the House of Tatum? HA.

………OK, now Us Weekly is claiming that they definitely had a girl! Congrats to Baby Girl Tatum!

Amber Rose’s natural birth plan went ‘down the drain’, she needed a C-section

Amber Rose seemed like she was pregnant for a long time. By the time the Grammys rolled around, chica looked like she was about to pop, and sure enough, on February 21st Amber went to the hospital and delivered her first baby, a little boy she and Wiz Khalifa named Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz. Wiz’s real last name is Thomaz, by the way. What was interesting (to me) is that leading up to the birth, Amber gave multiple interviews about her plans to have an all-natural home delivery because she wanted those bragging rights. As it turns out, there were some complications and she needed a C-section. Poor Amber!

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa’s son Sebastian had a plan of his own when it came time for his birth. In an appearance on The Ricki Lake Show on Tuesday, Apr. 30, the 29-year-old model opened up about the Feb. 21 delivery of her first child and how her plan of a home water birth “went down the drain.”

After watching Lake’s film about home births, The Business of Being Born, Rose was so inspired that she decided to have a home water birth as well. “Today was the first day of my home birthing classes,” she tweeted Jan. 13. “No meds, no hospital, just the privacy of my own home. I’m so excited for this experience!”

Rose had a birthing pool, midwives and a doula ready to help her, but at 37 weeks pregnant, the first-time mom-to-be learned that her baby was breech, or feet-first.

“My ideal birth plan was just down the drain,” she said on The Ricki Lake Show. “I tried mugwort, acupuncture and then my last resort was an inversion, which is when you go to the hospital and they manually try to turn your baby,” she revealed. “They push his head down and push his butt up . . . It hurt a lot. It was very painful. I cried.”

But the procedure didn’t work, and Rose accepted that she would have to undergo a C-section to deliver her son. “Of course it wasn’t . . . what we wanted to happen, but as mentally prepared as we were for the home birth, we had to get as prepared for the C-section,” Khalifa, 25, explained in a pre-recorded video clip.

“When I went in I was terrified, shaking. I was so scared,” Rose shared. “But then Wiz came in [and] he just talked to me the whole time.”

Their son, Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz, was born on Feb. 21. “All of a sudden we heard Sebastian cry and then we both started crying,” Rose recalled. “We were like, ‘Oh my gosh, our baby’s here!’”

“I feel like I made the right decision,” Rose said. “But I knew right after having a c-section that [with] our next baby I definitely want to have my baby at home.”

[From Us Weekly]

I understand how there are so many women who have such strong feelings about giving birth and how it should be natural and simple and too much modernity has ruined the experience for mothers and children, and those are all valid points and they should definitely be part of the larger conversation about childbirth. But it bugs me that Amber really feels like she let herself down when something happened that she had absolutely no control over. Complications happen. Plans change. Modern medicine isn’t always the worst thing. It would have been great if she had been able to give birth at home like she planned but why is her birth experience “less than” because she simply NEEDED to give birth in a hospital with doctors? She had a healthy delivery. Her baby is fine. Isn’t that what should be the most important thing?

Peaches Geldof gave birth to her second son, named him Phaedra Cohen

I totally forgot about this. I forgot that Peaches Geldof was pregnant again and I forgot that she hadn’t already given birth. You’ll have to excuse my confusion – Peaches announced she was three months pregnant with her second child just six months after giving birth to her first child, so it’s been a wall-to-wall pregnancy situation. Anyway, Peaches gave birth on Wednesday, April 24th, by C-section. She chose that date because it was her late mother’s birthday. I was just thinking about Paula Yates the other day. So sad. Anyway, Peaches gave birth to another boy. She and Thomas Cohen have named the kid… Phaedra. OMG.

PEACHES Geldof was overjoyed last night after giving birth to a son — on what would have been her late mum Paula Yates’s 54th birthday. The model and telly star, 24, chose to have a Caesarean on April 24. She named her son Phaedra — after an album by her favourite group Tangerine Dream.

Peaches, daughter of late Big Breakfast presenter Paula and musician Sir Bob Geldof, 61, wanted to have her first baby, a boy called Astala, on that date last year — but missed it.

Rocker husband Tom Cohen, singer in the band S.C.U.M., was present at the birth and sisters Fifi, 30, Pixie, 22, and half-sister Tiger Lily, 16, have been at her hospital bedside.

A source close to Peaches and Tom said last night: “They are absolutely over the moon about their new arrival. It all went smoothly and Peaches will be in hospital for a while to recuperate. Bob is absolutely over the moon — the whole family are.”

And the source added: “They are particularly pleased about the significance of the date as it makes Peaches feel she is keeping her mum’s memory alive.”

In September 2000 — when Peaches was just 11 — TV star Paula, 41, died of a heroin overdose at her London home.

Former wild child-turned-devoted mum Peaches and hubby Tom were married last year at the church in Kent where her parents were married in 1986 — and where Paula’s funeral took place in 2000.

PHAEDRA is the name of an album and song by German electronic band Tangerine Dream, both released in 1974. The group inspired German innovators Kraftwerk and the 1990s trance music boom.

[From The Sun]

So, this is twice in a row now that Peaches has not only gone with an “unconventional” name for a son, but it’s twice in a row that she chose more girly-sounding names for her sons. I have my issues with Astala and Phaedra in general, but if you just heard “These are my children, Astala and Phaedra,” wouldn’t you think you were meeting two little girls? But I guess the family has a history with weird names and given that Paula Yates only had daughters, maybe they just don’t know how to name little boys. I give up!

Jenna Bush-Hager welcomes Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager, Dubya’s first grandbaby

First of all, did you know George W. Bush has a Facebook page? He does! And did you know that Barney Bush (the Scottish terrier) passed away a few months ago? Sad. But George W. Bush has one reason to celebrate – his daughter Jenna has just welcomed her first child, a daughter! Jenna announced her pregnancy back in December after she seemed to be showing quite a bit during a segment on Today (she’s a Today correspondent), and she later confirmed the news to People Magazine. This is Dubya’s first grandchild. Jenna and her husband Henry Hager have named their daughter Margaret Laura Hager, and she will go by Mila Hager. That’s cute!

The former First Family has welcomed their first grandchild. Former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush confirmed the new addition Sunday on Facebook.

“Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager,” he writes. “Mila, daughter of Jenna and Henry Hager, is named for her grandmothers.”

The couple’s daughter arrived at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 in New York City.

“Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated,” Bush writes.

Prior to welcoming her new addition, the Today contributor didn’t know the sex of her baby.

“I really love the relationship I have with my mother,” Hager, 31, previously told PEOPLE at her baby shower, “so to have a daughter would be special.”

However, there’s still no word on what the little one will call her grandparents.

“My grandfather and my father’s grandfather were both called Gampy, so maybe it will be Gampy,” she recently told PEOPLE, adding with a laugh, “but my father did also say he wanted to be called Jefe, which is chief in Spanish.”

[From People]

Naming your daughter after her grandmother is common enough, and it’s incredibly common in the Bush family. Both of Dubya’s daughters are named after their grandmother. Dubya’s daughter Barbara was named after George W. Bush’s mother and Jenna was named after Laura Bush’s mother. I’m actually glad they specified that “Margaret” is for Henry’s mother otherwise I would have thought that Jenna had named her daughter after Margaret Thatcher. Which would have been epic! But “Mila” as a nickname for Margaret? I’ve never heard that, but I like it.

Anyway, congrats to Jenna and Henry! Congrats to Auntie Barbara and to happy grandparents George and Laura. I’m sure everybody is really happy!

Kim Kardashian could be lying about her due date too, might be due mid-June

You know how I’ve been detailing Kim Kardashian’s weird habit of probably lying about her dress size and weight? Well, I’m starting to think that the answer is much simpler and less rage-inducing than “Kim Kardashian loves to lie”. I think Kim just sucks at math. I think that when she’s confronted by numbers, her mind wanders to chintz peplums and leather jodhpurs and she completely spaces out. Think about it: wouldn’t that explain a lot about this mess? One week she’s insisting that she’s no more than 140 pounds, and then just nine days later, she’s telling TMZ that she’s totally 151 pounds because her baseline, pre-pregnancy size was a size 4, remember?

Well, as it turns out, Kim doesn’t just space out about numbers and math when it’s about her weight. She’s also been telling different people different things about her due date:

Could Kim Kardashian not be telling the truth about her due date? The pregnant reality star said on the “Today” show in January that her and Kanye West’s bundle of joy is due in July, but sources tell us it’s actually earlier.

During a recent baby shower for fashion stylist Monica Rose at Bagatelle LA, Kim was overheard saying she’s due in mid-June. Could a delay announcing the birth give her a chance to enjoy private time with the newborn and lose some weight? Kim’s rep had no comment.

[From Page Six]

For whatever reason, I had it in my head that she was due in early July, and it’s perfectly possible that Kim heard Duchess Kate say that she wasn’t due until mid-July, and Kim decided to copy Kate (because they are seriously SO similar). It’s also possible that Kim is due late June/early July and that she’ll be overdue, because that’s very common in first pregnancies. It’s also possible that Kim will schedule a C-section for whenever it’s convenient to her too, so just keep that in mind.

Incidentally, according to the Kardashian reality show, Kim’s biggest fear is that she’s still going to be legally married to Kris Humphries when she gives birth. She says in the promo, “I’m scared with the divorce I’m probably going to have this baby being married to someone else.” Which will probably happen – Kim and Kris’s divorce hearing/trial thing is set for early May, and I’m not sure that Kim will divorced by the time she gives birth even if the trial goes her way.

Kristen Bell & Dax Shephard welcome daughter Lincoln, that’s a girl’s name?

Kristen Bell and Dax Shephard, one of my favorite celebrity couples, have welcomed a baby daughter. I’m surprised that Kristen gave birth already, as it seems like she’s only been pregnant for a short while. That’s to her credit since she didn’t announce the pregnancy until she was several months along. The happy couple made the announcement on Twitter in their typically tongue-in-cheek way, which is way better than the “over the moon” statements we’ve come to expect.

It’s a girl for Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell!

“Lincoln Bell Shepard is here,” the Parenthood star Tweets. “She has mom’s beauty and dad’s obsession with breasts. Hooray!!!”

“My new roommate poops her pants and doesn’t pay rent…basically Dax pre-sobriety,” Bell adds. “Welcome baby Lincoln.”

Shepard, 38, and the House of Lies star, 32, announced the pregnancy in November.

Earlier this winter, Bell celebrated her baby shower while Shepard joked that he hoped their baby resembled his fiancée.

[From People]

I’ve never heard of Lincoln as a girl’s name. Just a couple of days ago my son was playing with a three year-old boy named Lincoln, and I remembered the kid’s name because I have a close friend with a son named Lincoln. I’m used to hearing that name for boys, and it just seems weird that it’s being used as a girl’s name. Kaiser and I were emailing about this and she mentioned that “Clinton” isn’t a common name yet, while I was surprised that “Reagan” is so common a name for girls. It just seems like “Reagan” should be a boys name, but somehow it got associated with girls.

Maybe that’s what Kristen Bell was thinking – she should reclaim the name “Lincoln” for girls/women. You know, she probably just started a trend. She’s famous and adorable, I can see the name shooting up in popularity for little girls.

Remember when Kristen was so over-the-top and sobbing on Ellen when she was confronted with a sloth? How much of a mess must she be now that she’s got her own baby? She must be so obsessed with little Lincoln, but she’s trying to play it off like they got a roommate. Congratulations to Kristen and Dax!

Amber Rose & Wiz Khalifa welcome son Sebastian ‘The Bash’ Taylor Thomaz

Amber Rose has looked ready to pop for the past six weeks, so I’m glad she finally gave birth! She gave birth on Thursday (yesterday) to a baby boy, and Wiz has already tweeted out the name of his son: Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz. “Thomaz” is actually Wiz’s real last name, did you know that? I had to look it up. His birth name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz and Wiz Khalifa is just his stage name. The more you know!! While I actually LOVE the name Sebastian (no joke), the “Taylor Thomaz” part seems… boy bandy. It actually reminds me of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, that child-star-turned-Teen-Beat cover boy from Home Improvement. Still, the kid will probably go by The Bash Thomaz. LOL.

Wiz Khalifa isn’t the only one in first class anymore. On Thursday (February 21), the Taylor Gang captain became a proud papa after his fiancée Amber Rose gave birth to their baby boy, Sebastian Thomaz.

“Happy Birthday Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz!!!” Wiz tweeted on Thursday. “Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world.

The countdown for baby Wizbud began Tuesday afternoon when Khalifa hit Instagram with a picture of a fetal monitor and the caption: “Coming soon…” Then earlier on Thursday, Wiz posted a picture of himself in scrubs to Instagram with the caption “Daddy Time.”

Rose has been getting ready for the blessed event since last week. “Hey Rosebuds & Rosestuds Muva won’t be back on twitter until Wizbud is born I need 2 mediate & focus on our Lil boy Luv u talk soon,” she tweeted on Valentine’s Day.

The couple announced Amber’s pregnancy on the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on September 6 and have been sharing updates with fans and the media every step of the way. In the October/November issue of XXL magazine, Rose pledged to have an all-natural birth. “I’m so ready. I’m going all-natural. I’ve decided that I’m going to have an all-natural water birth. No medicine. I want those bragging rights,” Amber told the mag. “The next time Wiz has a stomachache or anything, I’ll say, ‘I popped out a baby all-natural.’ ”

Khalifa seems ready to be a daddy: During Rose’s pregnancy, the weed advocate even curtailed his marijuana habits. “I smoke outside instead of inside. Everything is all about smells, man. If the smell irritates her, then it gotta go,” he told MTV News last year.

In January, the couple shared pics of Amber’s baby shower on Instagram. The couple decided on a baby name long ago, but only teased it during a radio interview last month. “It’s a total boss name for a boy,” Rose said.

[From MTV]

Congrats to the happy family! I’m really pleased that everybody is happy and healthy and everything turned out okay. This is the first child for both of them, correct? Wiz doesn’t have any other babies, right? Just out of curiosity, I looked up Amber’s real name too – it’s Amber Levonchuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT. This baby’s name should seriously be The Bash Levonchuck-Thomaz. That’s amazing. I do wonder if Amber gave birth at home, like she planned. And I wonder if Wiz “pulled it out” like he planned.

Michael Lohan and Kate Major welcome baby boy Landon: what could go wrong?

Whenever I think of Kate Major and Michael Lohan’s relationship, I remember an interview she did on Dr. Drew, in November, 2011, while Micheal was in jail for abusing her. She talked about the physical and emotional abuse he’d inflicted on her, and said that he was threatening that he would release a sex tape he made of the two of them, without her knowledge. (At that point he’d already released nude photos of her, taken while she was asleep.) Kate also had to confront one of Michael’s other lovers on Dr. Drew, a woman who claimed to have dated him during the time that he was supposed to be serious with Kate.

So not only did Michael Lohan beat Kate Major, he was also cheating on her. For her part, Kate had some serious issues of her own, with at least two arrests for drunken violent behavior (not involving Lohan). She went to rehab in late 2011.

The incident Major was being interviewed about was just one of many abusive situations we’ve heard between these two, as well as one in a long list of Michael being abusive toward the women in his life. So this latest news, that these two just had a baby together, is one I’ll approach with a lot of apprehension. Also, Michael got Kate pregnant while she had a restraining order against him. Classy. Here’s more:

Big day for Michael Lohan … his daughter escaped jail … and his fiancee just gave birth to a BOUNCING BABY BOY!!!

While Lindsay was sweatin’ it out in court, Kate Major went into labor at a Florida hospital.

We’re told Kate gave birth to a son — Landon Major Lohan — at 11:39 AM PT.

The baby weighed in at 19 3/4 inches, 7 lbs 5 oz … and is already wanted in 3 states (kidding!).

We’re told Michael was with Kate the entire time … and even cut the umbilical cord.

A rep for the family tells us baby, Michael and Kate are all doing great.

[From TMZ]

I’ve already said my piece about these people, and I just hope for the sake of that baby that they can change. Michael Lohan has shown his true colors many, many times over the years I’ve been covering celebrity gossip, so it’s hard to see how he’ll ever be more than a despicable conniving piece of sh*t, but I could be wrong.

Moving on, the name Landon is interesting. I’ve never heard it before, and it reminds me of the late Michael Landon, whom I think of as a decent guy. It does have a very trendy kind of quality to it, but it’s not a bad name. Congrats?
