Robert Downey Jr. & Susan welcome son Exton Elias Downey

Yay! Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey welcomed their first child together yesterday morning. It was a boy, which Robert had already revealed a few months ago. Robert already has a fully grown son, Indio, from his first marriage, but this little boy is Susan’s first baby. So… the name! They named him Exton Elias Downey. Er, Exton? I’m fine with Elias – in fact, I think that would have been a lovely first name, Elias Downey. Eli Downey. Little Eli! But Exton? Little Ex? Or would you abbreviate “Ext”? That’s a one-syllable mouthful.

It’s a boy for Robert Downey Jr.!

Wife Susan delivered son Exton Elias Downey at 7:24 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in Los Angeles, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier,” a friend of the couple says.
Baby boy weighs in at 7 lbs., 5 oz., is 20 inches long and joins big brother Indio, 18, Downey’s son from his previous marriage.

After announcing the pregnancy in August, the Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows star, 46, revealed the sex of the baby on national television, much to his producer wife’s (feigned) chagrin.

“I could never really stay mad at him, but I can tell you it genuinely wasn’t something we planned to reveal,” Susan, 38, later explained.

Thankfully, her husband — who will next star in The Avengers — did manage to keep quiet about their name choice.

“If I told you the name, then she would lop off my head with a machete,” joked Downey.

[From People]

I imagine the name has some kind of significance to one or both of them, considering it sounds like they had the name all picked out before the baby was born. Maybe it was a family name on Susan’s side…? Whatever, it’s not that important. I’m really glad that Susan had an easy and uncomplicated pregnancy and birth and that everybody is healthy and happy. I swear to God, THIS is the couple that can never split up. I will cry my eyes out if anything ever happens to them. I love them together. I love how smart and sassy Susan is, and how Robert worships her. Sigh… if only.

Oh, and I wonder how the baby is going to do with his cat brothers, Monty and Dart! RDJ loves those cats. He would lay down in traffic for those cats.

Sam Taylor-Wood, 44, and Aaron Johnson, 21, welcome 2nd daughter, Romy Hero

British photographer and director Sam Taylor-Wood fell in love when she was 43 years old. Heartwarming – except that she fell in love with an 18-year-old kid. The kid in question is Aaron Johnson, and they are still together, three years later. Shortly after they met and worked together, Sam got knocked up, and she and Aaron got engaged – they still haven’t gotten married, but in 2010, they welcomed a baby girl named Wylda Rae to their family. It’s a family which includes a teenage daughter and a 5-year-old daughter from Sam’s previous relationship. Anyway, last May, Sam announced that she and Aaron were expecting their second child together – and she’s apparently just given birth. It’s another girl!

Artist/director Sam Taylor-Wood and fiancé Aaron Johnson have become parents again to a baby girl. The new arrival – whose name has not been revealed – was born this month, joining big sister Wylda Rae, 18 months.

The birth means Nowhere Boy star Johnson is now outnumbered in a house full of females, along with Taylor-Wood’s two older daughters Anjelica, 14, and Jessie, five, from her previous marriage to art dealer Jay Jopling.

Acclaimed artist Taylor-Wood’s fourth pregnancy was confirmed by her representative last July. The arrival of her fourth child comes just a month after the heavily pregnant star accepted her OBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Taylor-Wood, 44, and Johnson, 21, fell in love on the set of Nowhere Boy in 2009 and announced their engagement in October that year after just a few months of dating. The artist made her directorial debut with the John Lennon biopic, which starred Johnson as the young Beatle.

Their relationship raised eyebrows due to their 23 year age gap and the fact that Johnson was just 19 at the time. They started dating less than a year after Taylor-Wood and ex-husband Jopling, 48, separated after 11 years of marriage.

In an interview last year, Taylor-Wood admitted she had been persuaded to start a second family with Johnson by the actor himself. She said: ‘Aaron, almost before anything started between us, said he wanted kids. He was very clear about wanting a family. We hardly go out now – it’s just us. Aaron has brought a set of values I didn’t even know I was looking for – family values. He is more grounded. He has been getting work offers which he has turned down because he wants to be here for the crucial first months of Wylda’s life.’

Taylor-Wood also attacked the media for concentrating on relationships between younger men and older women, who have been labelled ‘cougars’.

She said: ‘In the old days, “controversial” in a relationship meant same-sex or mixed races. Now, it is a woman with a younger man. That would not happen with a man.’

And Johnson has also defended their relationship: ‘I’m an old soul and she’s a young soul. We don’t see an age gap, we just see each other.’

[From The Mail]

Well… congratulations. I’m glad that Sam’s pregnancy was happy and healthy, and that their second baby was born without complications. I’m also happy to see that Aaron is sticking with Sam for going on 3 years now. Go ahead and call me sexist, but I still wonder if this is going to last in the long run. I mean – he’s only 21! And he’s now a father of two girls, and stepfather of two girls. AND HE’S ONLY 21. And his fiancée is 44. I still think that if the genders were reversed, people would still have huge problems with this – it’s specific to a 40-something person attaching themselves to a teenager. It’s like Courtney Stodden and her father/husband. It’s creepy.

UPDATE: And we have a name! Aaron and Sam named their daughter Romy Hero. I don’t get it.

Beyonce claims she had a natural birth, Jay-Z reveals Bey’s previous miscarriage

There are about 20 million stories regarding Beyonce, Jay-Z and little Blue Ivy, who was born on Saturday at Lenox Hill Hospital. Allegedly. For convenience, I’m just going to do all of the new stories in bullet points.

*A new (peasant!) father was trying to get into the neonatal intensive care unit to see his newborn, premature twins, but he was shut down by Bey and Jay’s bodyguards – they shut down the entire NICU, allegedly, by shelling out $1.3 million to Lenox Hill. The father is pissed, and some of the parents who were manhandled by Bey and Jay’s bodyguards are considering a lawsuit.

*However, the hospital denies both the “closing off the NICU” story and the “$1.3 million” story. A spokesperson for the hospital told TMZ: “The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations. The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility. We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days.”

*Jay-Z already has a song about his new daughter. It’s called “Glory (feat. Blue Ivy Carter)”. Apparently, it features a clip of Blue Ivy crying just moments out of the womb (whose womb?). Jay also makes a reference to a previous miscarriage that Beyonce suffered – that no one knew about before now. Sad. Here’s the song, with the lyrics appearing in the video:

*Lastly, Bey and Jay issued a statement about the birth. According to the official story that Jay and Bey are now putting it out, there was NO C-section involved. Bey wants everyone to know that she was NOT too posh to push. I’m sure she’ll be singing about the “pain” too, right? Here’s the statement:

Hello Hello Baby Blue!

We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven.

She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

[Via Us Weekly]

Do you believe her? Do you believe any of this? Do you believe that Beyonce was really and truly pregnant all of this time, that her magical bump kept going up and down in size on its own, and that she carried to full-term (while flying all over North America) and she went into labor and that she delivered naturally and vaginally? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!!? Granted, I feel bad now that I know Bey and Jay had gone through a miscarriage before… but I honestly think that piece of information can be used for the surrogacy case. Maybe Bey really did have problems conceiving and/or carrying to term, thus, they used a surrogate. I don’t know. But I find the initial reports of a “scheduled C-section” versus “Oh, no, I had a natural birth!” contradiction to be just another in a long line of suspicious activities. Maybe Bey just decided “In for a penny, in for a pound.” She’s lied about so much, why not make up a fake natural birth?

Beyonce gave birth to baby girl Blue Ivy Carter on Saturday via C-section

On Friday, INF Daily sent us the link to their exclusive photos of Beyonce still pregnant (or still “wearing the pillow”), which were taken Thursday night. It was a photo op designed to show us that Beyonce is still preggo, and to keep us on our guard that the birth could go down at any moment. Well, it did. It happened last night, and the news was first reported by E! News. It was a girl! They named her… Blue Ivy Carter. Blue Carter. Baby Blue.

We were so ready for this belly, and now we’re so psyched to meet this baby!

Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed a daughter Saturday night in New York, the little one’s arrival coming via scheduled C-section, mutliple sources confirm to E! News
And the pop ‘n’ hip-hop princess’ name? Drumroll, please…

Blue Ivy Carter! (At least that’s what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point—the couple’s reps have not immediately responded to calls seeking comment.)

Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to celebrate the arrival, tweeting the new parents: “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”

Rihanna gave baby Blue a warm welcome, tweeting: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Hey, we’re happy to find out this much, considering Blue’s parents didn’t even confirm to the world that they were married until…Wait? Did they ever really confirm it? (Public records ultimately told the tale.)

Anyway, the “Crazy in Love” duo tied the knot in April 2008 after roughly six years of dating. Considering they waited another three years to have a baby, you can tell this is one couple that thinks things through!

Beyoncé memorably revealed that she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

And her hubby certainly seems to be in the right head space, telling E! News in November that he hoped to be the kind of father whose children could talk to him about anything.

“Your child could come to you and have any type of conversation. I always hope for that kind of open relationship,” he said.

Just imagine the rap sessions father and daughter will be having a few years from now!

[From E! News]

I was kind of meh on this report’s accuracy, but People Magazine is reporting it too, so I think the “scheduled C-section” actually did go down last night. People also reports that Beyonce gave birth at Lenox Hill, and she had checked into the NYC hospital on Friday. Just this past week, the rumors were surrounding Bey giving birth at St. Luke’s, so I don’t know what to make of the hospital switch-up. I wonder if Beyonce was wearing her special birthin’ weave? I wonder if the surrogate is happy and healthy too?

UPDATE: Some media outlets are reporting the name as “Ivy Blue Carter”. I honestly don’t know which one is right.

Fantasia Barrino gave birth to a boy, didn’t give him his married father’s name

Fantasia Barrino has given birth to a baby boy! She gave birth yesterday, December 13, in North Carolina. ‘Tasia named the baby Dallas Xavier Barrino, which is interesting. Why didn’t she give the kid his father’s name? The baby-daddy is Antwaun Cook, Fantasia’s long-time married lover. By the last reports – earlier this year – Antwaun is still technically married to his wife Paula, and Paula is super-pissed that Antwaun knocked up Fantasia. Again. Because Antwaun got Fantastia pregnant last year too, and in the midst of the drama of their affair becoming public and Fantasia’s “suicide attempt,” Fantasia had an abortion – which she admitted to in open court, during one of the hearings for Paula and Antwaun’s divorce. Yes, this whole thing is a horrible mess. And now there’s an innocent, newborn baby in the mix.

Fantasia Barrino has a new little backup singer. The American Idol season 3 winner gave birth to a baby boy, Dallas Xavier Barrino, her rep tells PEOPLE. Baby Dallas made his debut on Tuesday in North Carolina at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and 21 inches long. He joins big sister Zion, 10.

“I feel so blessed that my son Dallas Xavier was born healthy, and is a wonderful new addition to our family,” Barrino, 27, tells PEOPLE. “I thank all my fans for their well wishes and continued support.”

The singer expressed her joy about the new baby when she revealed in August she was pregnant, telling the audience at a charity concert in Florida: “So, this child that I carry – God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”

In October, she announced she was having a boy, and shared that she’d been placed on bed rest as she came into the home stretch of the pregnancy.

Barrino has not spoken about the baby’s father, but the singer has been romantically linked to Antwaun Cook since summer 2010.

[From People]

She was with Antwaun longer than “since summer 2010.” Their affair began in 2009 or before, I’m pretty sure. I wonder if there’s some new scandal involving Antwaun and ‘Tasia? Are they still together? Bossip’s sources say that Antwaun was allegedly at the NC hospital when Fantasia gave birth, so I guess they are still together. So… I guess baby Dallas didn’t get his daddy’s name just because Antwaun is still married. HOT MESS.

Lily Allen (Lily Cooper) gave birth to a baby girl (Mini Cooper) on Friday

This is good news! Lily Allen gave birth to a baby girl on Friday! Huzzah! It’s always good news when a lady has a healthy pregnancy and gives birth to a healthy baby, but even more so in Lily’s case. In 2008, she suffered a miscarriage when she was with her then-boyfriend, and one year ago, Lily had a painful stillbirth when she was only six months pregnant. Lily married Sam Cooper several months ago, and she was already pregnant when she and Sam got hitched.

Lily Allen has a new reason to smile.

The pop star and her husband, Sam Cooper, welcomed their first child, a girl, on Friday, according to various reports. And the well-wishers are already chiming in.

Her friend Sam Chew Tweeted this message: “sending out love to lily, sam and mini cooper…… YES.”

Another pal, Charlie Condou, Tweeted to his followers that the singer had a little girl.

Allen, 26, wed Cooper, a painter and decorator, in Gloucestershire, England, last June, when she revealed she was expecting her bundle of joy. She has also since taken his last name.

Her U.K. rep had no comment on the birth of their daughter.

The birth comes after several hardships for the singer. She lost a baby boy in November 2010, after contracting a viral infection six months into her pregnancy. She also miscarried her first pregnancy in January 2008, while she was dating British musician Ed Simons.

[From People]

Oh, wait? She’s Lily Cooper now? Noted. Well, even though I’ve had my issues with Lily in the past, I’m very, very happy for her now. She really wanted to be a mom, and I’m so glad that it finally happened for her, and that she and baby seem like they’re doing well. I hope Sam sticks around too – he seems like a decent guy, and who knows? Maybe Sam and Lily will last forever.

Sister Wives welcome 17th child, a son

fp_5868448_brown_kody_fp2_0
The newest, youngest, skinniest and arguably the most annoying Sister Wife, Robyn Brown, just welcomed her fourth child into the world, a boy. Robyn has three children from a previous marriage who join the 13 biological children of her new husband, Kody Brown. That means Kody now has 14 biological kids and 3 step kids to make a total of 17 kids by four different wives, all of whom he’s still with. At least they have separate houses at this point, thanks to all that reality show money coming in. The newest addition, Solomon Brown, was nearly 10 pounds and was born yesterday at home in Vegas:

Sister Wives star Kody Brown and his fourth wife Robyn welcomed their newest son to their polygamist family on Wednesday, bringing the total number of children in the family to 17.

Solomon Brown was born at 2:02 a.m. on Wednesday in the family’s Las Vegas home, and he weighed 9 lbs., 10.5 oz., and is 22 inches long.

Dad Kody was reportedly thrilled with the new baby, telling a magazine “He’s perfect and we couldn’t be happier.”

The controversial family is headed by Kody who has four wives in total. Meri, Janelle and Christine are original spouse Robyn’s “sister wives” and the family has left Utah and are struggling with the changes in their lives separated in four houses in Nevada.

The new baby is the first child for Robyn and Kody and he joins his older siblings as the focus of the hit reality show.

[From Radar Online]

Now Robyn has served her purpose. She’ll probably have a few more kids for Kody until she’s no longer able, at which point he’ll add another wife to the mix to make sure there are enough kids in the world with his selfish goofy genes. Meanwhile Robyn is surely thrilled that there are other wives and a bunch of teenagers to help with the childrearing and housework so that it doesn’t all fall on her shoulders. It sounded like that’s why she entered into this arrangement in the first place. And none of them have to work at this point since they’re now starring on a reality show. Huzzah, congratulations! Have a bunch more kids and put ‘em on TV until the public looses interest in you! How soon will it be before these ladies are getting Botox and a little nip and tuck?

Evangeline Lilly was in labor for 30 hours, with 8 hours devoted to pushing

wenn3540124

These are some week-old photos of Evangeline Lilly at the LA premiere of Reel Steel, which was the number one movie this weekend. Evangeline (or “Evangelina” as my idiotic fingers keep typing) probably didn’t have much to do with the box office, although you never know. Just because I absolutely hated her on Lost, doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have a devoted base of horny fan-boys. But is Evangeline liked by ladies? Will ladies ever say “Hey, let’s go see that new Evangeline Lilly movie?” Probably not. But Evangeline is trying to win our support. Little does she know that I started crying and rocking as soon as I read her “natural childbirth” tale:

Evangeline Lilly knows how to hold her ground. The actress opted for a home birth for the delivery of her son last May, and was determined to see it through — despite the unexpected timeline.

“I actually skipped the hospital … We decided to have the baby at home because we wanted it to be a natural birth, and it turns out that it was 30 hours of natural,” the Real Steel star, 32, explained during a Monday appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

“Eight hours of pushing, that’s the part that men don’t understand. Women go, ‘Oh, dear, oh, dear God, eight hours of pushing?’ And the men are like, ‘Okay, eight hours of pushing.’”

Fortunately for the former Lost star, her midwife eventually stepped in to save the day, much to Lilly’s relief.

“After about five hours of pushing, my midwife and my birthing assistant said, ‘You know, we have a few suggestions,’” she says. “And I was like, ‘Really? After five hours of pushing you have a few suggestions? You couldn’t have told me five minutes in?’”

Following the baby boy’s birth, Lilly planned to “abandon ship for a little while,” but the first-time mom — who hopes to have a “brood” of babies — admits that even the best laid plans often go awry.

“I was sitting with my newborn baby and Peter Jackson called and said, ‘Would you like to be an elf in The Hobbit?’” she shares. “And I said, ‘Yes, I really do! I really do want to do that.’ So I’m sort of strapped in, as it turns out, to four movies now.”

Luckily for Lilly, her son is brought to set each day to spend time with his mama — unbeknownst to him, however!

“He came to the trailer and I put him to my breast [to nurse] and he screamed his head off, staring up at this strange, pointy-eared, mess of a person that was not his mother,” she laughs.

“And then that night I was feeding him at home and he was perfectly fine and my partner [Norman Kali] said to me, ‘You know his internal dialogue right now is, “Mom, you won’t believe what happened to me today!”‘”

[From People]

Eight hours of pushing, thirty hours of labor, all with no drugs? Just shoot me in the face. Seriously. If it ever happens for me, I’m going to ask to be unconscious for the birth. The doctor can handle it, I’ll be downing every pill I can find. Don’t judge.

Evangeline gave birth mid-May, and we STILL don’t know the little guy’s name. Evangeline did reveal this blind-item about her son’s name: “My baby did not have a name for a month. It took me a month to name my child… I had my baby outside in a thunderstorm. It was really romantic. His name means ‘the thunder.’” The baby blogs are having a field day trying to guess – go here to see some of the Hawaiian (and other) possibilities. My favorite is Kane.

Jessica Alba talks about baby Haven’s birth, and it’s pretty gross

wenn3527398

I’m one of those people who gets very squeamish and grossed out when someone launches into a tale of medical drama. I can handle and all kinds of fictionalized violence (thus, my love of crime stories and cop shows), but whenever someone starts talking about broken bone this or distended uterus that, I need to take a deep breath and think about kittens. Example: I was waiting at the mechanic’s, and I was listening to this woman’s one-sided conversation on the phone. She was going on and on about how her friend had broken her leg in four places. I got so nauseous, I had to leave the room. It was like I can actually FEEL these ailments, and I swear that my own leg felt broken for a good 15 minutes.

So, you can just imagine how I am about women describing their birth stories. I can just do without them, honestly. I don’t begrudge you your birth stories, and I’m sure you’re all very brave and strong and wonderful but SHUTUP. Whatever you describe, I can FEEL it. So, with that introduction, here’s Jessica Alba’s story about the birth of her second child, Haven Garner:

alba1

THERE is often a brief spell of domestic chaos following a new arrival, but when Jessica Alba and Cash Warren invite us into their LA home, we’re greeted by a scene of near zen-like calm. Here the couple introduce six-week-old Haven Garner Warren, younger sister to daughter Honor (3).

And Jessica Alba and Cash – who met eight years ago on the set of Fantastic Four – chat to us about Haven’s unusual birth, living in a female-dominated household, and keeping their romance alive.

“When Haven was born, I fell in love all over again,” says Cash. “It’s the most incredible experience.”

“Love at first sight,” says Jessica. “It did take a couple of days for it to sink in that I have another baby!”

And while Cash loves his burgeoning family of girls, the situation does have one slight downside.

“There are lots of strong women around,” says Jessica. “If there’s any discussion, Cash doesn’t win. Girls have the majority vote here!”

She told OK! magazine: “When I delivered Haven she was born still inside the amniotic sac, which is rare. The doctor grabbed the nurse and said: ‘Look at this!’ I was in the middle of pushing and he told me to hold on a minute and not to push! He was wearing basketball shorts and a T-shirt and said: ‘Oh I have to get my scrubs on for this!’ The sac burst on its own after she came out. It was a trip.”

“When I was in recovery we still hadn’t chosen her name. Cash picked her up and said she came into the world in her ‘safe haven’ and it clicked right then for both of us.”

[From OK! UK]

OMG. O.M.G. The baby in the amniotic sac! Surprisingly enough, this is not even close to the grossest or most uncomfortable birth story I’ve ever been assaulted with. Please don’t even start. But… you know what I think the funkiest part of the story is? “He was wearing basketball shorts and a T-shirt and said: ‘Oh I have to get my scrubs on for this!’” DUDE. Put your scrubs on before the baby comes out in its own amniotic sac, for the love of God.

Emily Deschanel gave birth to a healthy, vegan boy named Henry

wenn3258063

Emily Deschanel gave birth to a boy! Huzzah! Emily and husband David Hornsby welcomed their first child, a boy they named Henry, on Wednesday. Emily announced her pregnancy last Spring, and it was written into Bones so the “Dr. Brennan” character is pregnant too, although God knows what they’re going to do for this new season (starting in November). Previously, Emily spoke about her pregnancy diet – she stayed vegan throughout her pregnancy – and her birth plans for a doula and a hypnobirth.

And baby makes three!

Bones star Emily Deschanel and her husband, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s David Hornsby, welcomed their first child Wednesday, a baby boy named Henry Hornsby, Deschanel’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Deschanel, 34, and Hornsby were married in 2010. The actress maintained a vegan diet throughout her pregnancy.

The new mom’s Bones co-star TJ Thyne took to Twitter to share the happy news. “CONGRATULATIONS EMILY D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” he Tweeted Wednesday. “Yay yay yay!!! :o )”

But he’s surely not the only one celebrating Henry’s arrival.

In April, shortly after her sister Emily announced her pregnancy, Zooey Deschanel could hardly contain her excitement, Tweeting: “I am super excited to be an aunt!”

[From People]

Congrats to Emily, David and little Henry. I like the name Henry Hornsby. It sounds like a professor’s name, right? Like, “Oh, Dr. Henry Hornsby, professor of Classics at Harvard? His office is in that building.” I hope they don’t end up calling him “Hank”.

Seriously, though – what’s going to happen with Bones? After Temperance got knocked up like two seconds after bonin’ Booth, what’s in store for the new season? I’m concerned.
