Super Bowl ad spots with dogs, Adriana Lima & John Stamos: which was the best?

As always, the commercials were the relative highlight of last night’s Super Bowl XLVI show. Overall, those lucrative advertising firms fared … alright this year. My favorite was the Honda CR-V Game commercial, “Matthew Broderick’s Day Off,” which serves as an unofficial sequel to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but it’d have been even better if the commercial had given a (more prominent) nod to the Cameron Frye character as well since he was the most underrated part of the movie itself.

Otherwise, the advert spots were business as usual. The Coca Cola Polar Bears were out in full force as were Jerry Seinfeld and the Soup Nazi for Audi. Most of the commercials can be viewed on the AdBlitz YouTube channel, and Pajiba has compiled a top ten list that’s pretty good, but Dustin Rowles favors the sentimental and also, sadly, doesn’t enjoy beer commercials featuring cute puppies. As for my own taste, I’m a sucker for slightly anthropomoprhized canines, so here are few of those plus some of the better ones featuring celebrities (because that’s what we do here, right?).

Bud Light – “Here We Go” Rescue Dog: So bloody cute that I yearned for the Puppy Bowl. If I could’ve found a dog to fetch me hummus last night, I’d have been one happy woman.

Volkswagon – “The Dog Strikes Back”: This just goes to show that dogs need self improvement too, although I could’ve done without the Darth Vader cameo.

Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt – “The Tease”: John Stamos totally gets his ass kicked and loves it.

2012 Kia Optima – “A Dream Car. For Real Life.”: Featuring Adriana Lima and Motley Crue. Very cheesy but still effective.

Teleflora Super Bowl Ad – “Adriana Lima 2012″: At first, I actually thought this was a (very subtle) Victoria’s Secret commercial.

David Beckham Bodywear for H&M – “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”: We get it, David. You like to show off your underwear and tats.

Chrysler – “It’s Halftime America”:: This one really hit the spot, as my grandma used to say, and the commercial fits well with the current economic climate without getting too political.

Chrysler – “It’s Halftime America, Gotham City”: Of course, the same theme also works well to plug the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises movie.

And of course, more puppies are to be found in the “The Bark Side” Volkswagon teaser:

Clint Eastwood was dead set against reality show, but his wife insisted

A few weeks ago, a truly heartbreaking story broke about Clint Eastwood going over to the dark side. We learned that Clint and his family were filming a reality show, which would primarily star his wife, Dina Ruiz, and the two teenaged daughters of the house. I also discussed the horrible news in terms of Clint’s potential loss of mystique and assumption of dorkdom by allowing cameras into his house to watch him shuffle around in boxer shorts while scratching his balls. Again, nothing good can possibly come of this.

This week’s Enquirer doubles down on the story by confirming what we already knew — that Clint has agreed to make a few limited cameo appearances. However, an insider maintains that Clint was vehemently opposed to his family signing on the dotted line at all, and he only gave in after a lengthy campaign from the women of the house. Cue the drama:

Clint Eastwood may be one of Hollywood’s most famous tough guys, but he’s a real pushover in his own house!

The Dirty Harry actor’s wife Dina and two of his teenage daughters have strong-armed the star into agreeing to take part in a new reality show!

Although the 81-year-old screen icon hates the idea of letting cameras into the family home, he buckled under pressure from Dina, their daughter Morgan, 15, and Clint’s 18-year-od daughter Francesca, a friend of the family told The ENQUIRER.

“Clint’s an extremely private guy and hates the idea of having TV crews around the house, perring into their everyday lives,” said the friend. “After a lot of arm-twisting, Clint finally agreed. But he said he would only appear in a few cameos, at the very most.”

The source continued: “Clint’s wife and daughters begged him to do it, so what could he say? They wore him down. It’s clear who wears the pants in his family!”

According to the source, Francesca wanted her dad to do it to help with her budding acting career. And Dina, a 46-year-old TV news anchor, hopes a reality show will help launch a possible modeling career for Morgan.

Although the show is being produced by the same people responsible for the Kardashians’ shows, the last thing Dina wants is for her family to come off looking like that drama-filled clan.

“In fact, Dina is hoping that having the cameras around will provide LESS drama for Morgan,” noted the friend. “Dina’s hoping that having cameras around will make her settle down and concentrate on school, among other things.”

[From Enquirer, print edition, January 2, 2012]

So basically, Dina (who shall henceforth be known as The Other White Oprah) is hoping that a reality show will fix her family’s problems? If anything at all, having a spotlight will only amplify what’s already wrong in the house, and it sounds like the entire affair is already causing tension between her and Clint in their marriage. How awful to let something like famewhore aspirations taint a 15-year-marriage, but it’s not as if his wife and daughters just thought of wanting to do a reality show out of the blue.

Unfortunately and if this story is correct, Clint’s probably got a tendency to let his girls do whatever they want. Or at the very least, he’s becoming a pushover in his advanced age. The Man with No Name would be so utterly disappointed.

Clint Eastwood and family are filming a reality show: intriguing or terrible news?

This story truly makes it seem like the End of Days. Apparently, Clint Eastwood has gone to the dark side and agreed to participate within an Eastwood family reality show with his wife of fifteen years, Dina Ruiz, a former anchorwoman is thirty five years younger than himself. I can’t even begin to stress how terrible an idea this sounds like. Why would Clint ever consent to such madness? Maybe he threw his wife a bone (heh) after she pestered him for awhile about it. I guess she must be a famewhore? Pretty much. I just hope she doesn’t drag him down with the ship.

The whole deal with Clint Eastwood’s enduring success isn’t all due to his acting and directing, which has obviously got everything to do with the respect he’s afforded within Hollywood but not so much his appeal with the general public. In regard to the latter, it’s more of an issue of mystique that dates back to his portrayal of the Man with No Name in the famed Sergio Leone Dollars trilogy. He’s an enigma, and a reality show could steadily chip away at that legacy. Do we really want to see Clint walking around in his boxer shorts and absentmindedly scratching his ass? No. We most certainly do not.

Clint Eastwood is going the way of the Kardashians … TMZ has learned his wife and two of his daughters are currently shooting a family reality show intended to air on the E! network.

Sources connected to the production tell TMZ … the show will explore what it’s like to live in a family of “Hollywood royalty.” It will focus on the relationship between Clint’s wife Dina Eastwood, their daughter Morgan and Clint’s 18-year-old daughter Francesca … an aspiring actress.

We’re told 81-year-old Clint has agreed to make a couple of cameos — but will not be a main character on the show.

The show is being produced by reality powerhouse Bunim/Murray — the same people who produce all of the Kardashian reality shows … along with “The Real World” and “Bad Girls Club.”

Sources tell us producers are hoping to get the show on the air in the next few months.

[From TMZ]

This can’t turn out well. Hopefully, the show will be boring as hell because, presumably, Clint will duck out after making a “Honey, I’m home” appearance before retiring to his study, bolting it shut, and chilling out with a hefty supply of fine cigars. An early cancellation with be the most merciful of all possible fates here.

Then there’s the worst case scenario, which would be similar to Ozzy Osbourne’s loss of mystique after “The Osbournes” hit the airwaves. One of my good friends from high school was obsessed with Black Sabbath, and he was absolutely crushed after watching Ozzy freaking out over dog poo and snoring on a chaise lounge while his wife Sharon threw raw meat at the neighbors. My friend couldn’t believe that he’d spent his formative years worshipping a guy that turned out to be such a dork. Hopefully, Clint will avoid this fate. He’s 81 years old and has worked too hard to establish a wonderful legacy. None of his fans ever want to think of him as a dork.

Leonardo DiCaprio covers GQ, talks about whether J. Edgar Hoover was gay

leo1

Leonardo DiCaprio is the cover boy for the October issue of GQ – emphasis on “boy”. Did they set the Photoshop tool to “1999”? Leo’s face is not this thin anymore. I like Leo and everything, but as he’s grown up, weight has gone to his face and it’s never left and he’s no longer this good-looking kid that GQ wants us to see. Anyway, you can see the full slideshow here – lots of nice photos, where Leo looks very young. Leo is promoting his new film, J. Edgar, which was directed by living legend Clint Eastwood. Leo’s big accomplishment as an actor before now was his relationship with Martin Scorsese, who is famously detail-oriented and almost OCD. I would imagine coming off of several Scorsese films, working with laid-back, easy-going Clint Eastwood would be a breath of fresh air. The tabloids tried to make it sound like Clint and Leo weren’t getting along, but Clint is around for part of Leo’s interview, and they sound like two men who respect each other. Here are some interview excerpts:

Leo on learning to care about the financial part of filmmaking: “Throughout my career, I never knew which movies of mine made money and which didn’t. When Titanic came out, people would say, ‘Do you realize what a success this is?’ And I’d say, ‘Yeah, yeah, it’s a hit.’ The [money] stuff never mattered to me until I was into my thirties and got interested in producing, and people would show me charts explaining what finances a movie, what you’ll make from foreign, what you’ll make from domestic, what you need to make an R-rated film that’s a comedy versus a drama. But even now I say that unless you want to prove that you can carry a film with your name, continuously trying to achieve box-office success is a dead end.”

Leo felt overwhelmed: “My introduction to acting in films was with De Niro in This Boy’s Life. When I got the part I was 15, and somebody said, ‘Do you realize who you’re gonna work with?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I guess.’ And they said, ‘No, no, no. Go watch all of his films, and then go see these people’s films.’ So I obsessively watched films on VHS, and I remember feeling so overwhelmed by what had been done in cinema already. Watching a young Brando or James Dean or Montgomery Clift, I was like, Oh, my God, how can anyone ever hope to achieve that type of greatness?”

Leo‘s wet dream (as an actor): “For my generation, it’s always the ’70s. That period where you felt like the hands were being dealt back in the director’s favor. The studios realized that letting them tell their stories was something the audience had a hunger for. And of course, it all went awry. [They both laugh.] Taxi Driver to me is the ultimate independent-movie performance. Playing a character like Travis Bickle is every young actor’s wet dream.”

GQ: [To Eastwood] You’ve described yourself as a social libertarian. What does that mean to you?

Clint Eastwood: I was an Eisenhower Republican when I started out at 21, because he promised to get us out of the Korean War. And over the years, I realized there was a Republican philosophy that I liked. And then they lost it. And libertarians had more of it. Because what I really believe is, let’s spend a little more time leaving everybody alone. These people who are making a big deal out of gay marriage? I don’t give a f–k about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of.

Leonardo Dicaprio: That’s the most infuriating thing—watching people focus on these things. Meanwhile, there’s the onset of global warming and—
Clint Eastwood: Exactly!
Leonardo Dicaprio: —and these incredibly scary and menacing things with the future of our economy. Our relationship to the rest of the world. And here we are focusing on this?
Clint Eastwood: They go on and on with all this bulls–t about “sanctity”—don’t give me that sanctity crap! Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.

Eastwood on J. Edgar Hoover and the gay issue: “I’d heard all the various controversies and gossip—that he wore dresses at parties. Everybody was saying, maybe he’s gay because he’d never gotten married. But that’s the way they did it back in the ’40s. If a guy didn’t get married, they always thought, Oh, there’s something wrong with him… Well, [Hoover and Clyde Tolson, the associate director of the FBI] were inseparable pals. Now, whether he was gay or not is gonna be for the audience to interpret. It could have been just a great love story between two guys. Or it could have been a great love story that was also a sexual story.”

Leo on the gay thing: “What we’re saying is that [Hoover] definitely had a relationship with Tolson that lasted for nearly fifty years. Neither of them married. They lived close to one another. They worked together every day. They vacationed together. And there was rumored to be more. There are definite insinuations of—well, I’m not going to get into where it goes, but…”

Eastwood: “It’s not a movie about two gay guys. It’s a movie about how this guy manipulated everybody around him and managed to stay on through nine presidents. I mean, I don’t give a crap if he was gay or not.”

Adds Leo: “If I were a betting man, I actually don’t know what I would bet [regarding his sexuality].”

[From GQ & USA Today]

I actually thought that it was part of the historical record that J. Edgar was gay, and a transvestite. Right? Aren’t they teaching that in history books at this point? But if Clint Eastwood says it’s open to debate, so be it. Oh, and Clyde Tolson – Hoover’s rumored lover/life-partner – is being played by Armie Hammer. That big hunk of handsome that our moms love. Armie got the cover of Detailsyou can read his interview here.

Did Leonardo DiCaprio start a bitch-fight with Clint Eastwood?

wenn3202886

Currently, Leonardo DiCaprio is filming the J. Edgar bio-pic with director Clint Eastwood. I’ve been hearing various stuff about the filming, mostly controlled leaks about potential plotlines and that kind of stuff, but I hadn’t heard anything about tempers flaring. Until now! The National Enquirer’s gossip guy Mike Walker claims that Clint and Leo got into a little tiff while filming in Washington, D.C. one day. Clint, a famously reserved and fast director, got the take he was looking for and called it a day. Leo did not agree, and pitched a fit. I mean… you know Clint has turds bigger than Leo, right?

FEELIN’ LUCKY, PUNK?… WELL, ARE YOU? You coulda heard a pin drop when LEONARDO DICAPRIO suddenly got feisty with Oscar-winning director CLINT EASTWOOD on the set of “J. Edgar” and demanded a retake on a scene where he reacts to a bomb explosion on a Washington, D.C., street.

Clint loved the take, called it a wrap and told everyone to go home – but Leo felt he hadn’t looked shocked enough in the scene, and insisted on a redo.

“No,” said Clint, “I’m happy with it.”

Said My On-Set Spy: “Leo got upset and demanded that Clint reshoot the scene. Stunned by Leo’s challenging manner, everyone got real quiet. Then Clint turned to the cameraman and said, in a quiet Dirty Harry rasp: ‘He can shoot it again – but make sure there’s no film in the camera.’”

Instantly, Leo lost his temper, screamed: “FORGET IT!” – and stormed off the set. Shooting resumed the next day, but sources say the air’s thick with tension.

[From The National Enquirer, print and online editions]

Seriously, don’t mess with Clint. He’ll cut a bitch, and has, often. The only thing that makes me not believe this story is that Clint is supposed to be one of the greatest directors of actors. Actors love him. They worship him. It’s always a love affair between Clint the director and his cast. But… I’ll tenuously believe this story because although Leo fronts like he’s the King of Hollywood, he still has moments where he’s a punk.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Armie Hammer will have “a ton” of kissing scenes in ‘J. Edgar’

fp_6737443_jedgar_set_vah_09_24

Okay, maybe these aren’t really the “first” photos from Clint Eastwood’s latest film, J. Edgar, the J. Edgar Hoover bio-pic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer, but these are the first photos we’ve had access to. And they’re good too! We’ve got Leo (as Hoover) in a snazzy tuxedo, Armie Hammer also in a tux, and even little Judi Dench, magnificent and resplendent in some kind of fur. I didn’t know Judi was in this film! She’s playing Hoover’s mom, and in my head, Judi and Clint Eastwood get along really well. I hope that Judi and Clint adore each other, don’t you? I wish they would make a movie about the two of them sitting around and drinking together. I would watch that.

fp_6737454_jedgar_set_vah_20_24

I’m a little out of my element trying to figure out who various actors are playing. Naomi Watts is in it, as is Ed Westwick and Josh Lucas. I think Armie Hammer is playing Hoover’s lover? Maybe? Armie recently discussed the film:

Armie Hammer isn’t nervous about kissing Leonardo DiCaprio in new movie ‘J. Edgar’ as he knows the scenes are vital to the movie. Armie Hammer isn’t nervous about kissing Leonardo DiCaprio in new movie ‘J. Edgar’.

The actor will play Clyde Tolson – an associate and rumoured gay lover of Leonardo’s character, FBI director John Edgar Hoover – in the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic but says he isn’t worried about the scenes because he knows they’re important to the film.

He told E! Online: “It’s not a kissing scene. It’s a ton of kissing scenes. I actually just met him for the first time Saturday at the DGA Awards. He’s a talented actor. I’m not nervous or afraid of it being awkward. The script is great. The scenes are in there for a reason.”

As well as Armie and Leonardo, Naomi Watts will star as Hoover’s secretary of 54 years Helen Gandy, who after his death destroyed his personal file containing incriminating material that he used to control powerful political figures.

Dame Judi Dench is set to star as Hoover’s mother, while ‘Gossip Girl’ star Ed Westwick is also part of the cast. The film is set to be released at the end of 2012.

[From Contact Music]

From what little I know about Hoover’s personal life, I don’t think he had just one lover, you know? I thought there were orgies with lots of nubile young bucks (or as John Travolta calls it, “Tuesday”). That being said, I love that Clint is making this movie, and I love the idea of Armie and Leo making out. It’s not as hot as Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy making out, but it’s still a pretty good homoerotic fantasy that’s got me smiling (in my pants).

Matt Damon claims he first met Clint Eastwood in a gay bar

mensjournal_cover

Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon are the cover “boys” for the November issue of Men’s Journal, to promote their film Hereafter (Matt stars, Clint directs). The article and Q&A is affectionate, and you can tell that the two men like each other a great deal. The writer even goes so far as to say that Matt’s the “favorite son” of tough-guy Clint. Here are some excerpts:

Clint Eastwood, tall and silvery and calm, with thinning hair that’s grown flyaway, is dressed in a pair of securely belted dark slacks and an immaculate white golf shirt. He crosses the lobby of a Toronto hotel, headed toward a table near the bar. At 80 and past concealing that fact, he looks like the wise old blue-eyed patriarch of an alternative-history America that has never lost a war or run a deficit. He comes off like a man with few worries and few regrets who lives by the Spartan motto “Get on with it” and has learned to dismiss his animal needs. When a nervous waiter sidles up to ask him what he’d like to drink, he answers gently, “Nothing, thank you.” Is there something he’d like to eat, perhaps? There isn’t.

Across the table from Eastwood, drinking coffee, sits his friend Matt Damon. He’s half Eastwood’s age and perhaps two-thirds his height, but he shares some of the old master’s famed tenacity. He’s also, as Eastwood used to be, an action hero with a brain who harbors long-term plans to use it by making movies of substance and integrity. In a show of affection rare in nature between alpha males, the two men greet each other with broad, sweet grins that even trained actors would have trouble faking.

They’re cute together.

Damon on how they met: “We met in a bar, a gay bar. I saw something in him through the eye slits of the Hannibal Lecter mask that he was wearing.”

Damon on The Departed, and on tough guys: “I went up to Marty [Scorsese] and said, ‘I want to lose every fight I’m in and I don’t want my dick to work.’ Anybody I’ve met in my life who really is tough, there’s no swagger, there’s no raising your voice. You sit down and talk to a guy from the Delta Force, it’s very pleasant and calm.”

Eastwood on Damon: “You get a feeling about somebody that they’re the kind of person who just likes to stand and deliver. And he is. He knows – he instinctively knows [what it takes to be a good director]. When he directs he’s going to be great at it because he understands actors.”

[From Men’s Journal]

Although it seems like a strange pairing, I can totally see how Clint and Matt are tight now, although I think writers are stretching the father-son likeness a bit. Matt has done some great action work, notably in the Bourne series, but he’ll never be quite as badass and lovely as Clint. That’s not a bad thing, though – because I can’t think of anyone who will ever be as badass as Clint.

Matt Damon & his very pregnant wife Lucy look hot at ‘Hereafter’ premiere

hereafter_01_wenn3043819

Last night was the premiere of Matt Damon’s new film, Hereafter, which was directed by Clint Eastwood. Matt walked the red carpet with his wife Luciana or “Lucy”. I know many of you bitches don’t like Lucy and spin wild conspiracy theories about her, but I think she’s probably a really nice woman. Matt isn’t a fool, and I think he just went for a nice, low-key woman who wanted to have a big family, just like him. I’m kind of losing count as to which pregnancy she’s on – this is her third baby with Matt, right? They’ll have three kids and Matt is step-dad to her daughter from a previous relationship.

hereafter_12_wenn3043830

Maybe he keeps knocking her up because she looks so cute when she’s pregnant? Lucy looks seriously lovely in this animal-print dress, especially from the side, where you can see she’s carrying really well. And I’ll just say a word about CB’s lover, Matt Damon: my God, he’s looking f-cking hot these days. After gaining and losing weight for roles over the years, Matt seems to have finally solidified and “filled out” – keeping a boyish quality while still finally looking like a handsome MAN. Also, I f-cking love his glasses. I’ve needed to get new frames for about a year, and I think I’m going to bring these photos in and tell my optometrist that I want these frames.

hereafter_02_wenn3043961

All in all, Lucy and Matt are such a hot couple. And I buy it, you know? I buy that they’re in love and they’re happy and that he honestly adores his wife. Does that make me naïve? I don’t care. I buy it. As for the film – well, I don’t really want to see it. It looks depressing, and like it’s… grief-porn, I guess. Here’s the trailer:

Eh. Back to the red carpet – Clint looks like hell… although it’s a beautiful kind of hell. I’m glad he’s not getting any work done. But my God, he looks old and grumpy. There are totally worse things.

Angelina Jolie is determined to follow in Clint Eastwood’s footsteps

wenn2120529

Earlier this week, we discovered that Angelina Jolie is going to direct her first feature film. Previously, she’s directed a documentary, but this is the first time Angelina is going to be directing actors using a script. Thankfully for Angelina, she won’t have to worry about alienating some lowly screenwriter – you see, Angelina has written the screenplay herself. It’s about war-torn Bosnia (in the 1990s) and it’s a love story. In my mind, it’s called For Whom the Genocide Tolls. Blech… my one genocide joke. I shall never make another.

Anyway, The National Enquirer has some interesting backstory on Angelina’s desire to direct, write and produce her own film. According to the Enquirer, it’s all about her daughterly relationship with her Changeling director Clint Eastwood, and how Clint thinks he has to “pay it forward,” mentor-wise, with Angelina. Clint was mentored by Sergio Leone… so is it Leone to Eastwood to Jolie…?

What’s the startling secret behind ANGELINA JOLIE’s directorial debut?

The Oscar winning actress, 35, is prepping her first film as a director – a romance set during the Bosnian conflict..

GK Films confirmed Jolie will write, direct and produce the period drama, which follows a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet “cute” on the eve of war and then forge their forbidden love amidst the stench of death.

But Angie won’t be bossing around BRAD PITT on location.

The film company revealed the war torn romancer will be filled entirely of actors from the former Yugoslavia.

“I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can,” Jolie said in a statement.

And, sources say, she learned a lot about directing when working with CLINT EASTWOOD on The Changeling.

“When Clint was first starting out as a director he was mentored by his former directors, Don Siegel and Sergio Leone,” a Hollywood insider told The ENQUIRER exclusively.

“Clint may have inspired his former charge to take the reins much like he did — crossing over from actor to director. Eastwood knows full well he never who have made it if it hadn’t been for Don and Sergio’s help. He thankfully dedicated his Oscar winning western The Unforgiven to his two former teachers.

“At age 35, Jolie’s knows her days in front of the camera will soon be behind her.

“She’s wisely following in the footsteps of her mentor, Clint Eastwood.”

[From The National Enquirer]

I think it’s a sweet story, and I would guess that working with Clint, one of the most famous of the actor-directors ever, probably was one of Angelina’s inspirations. She and Clint were noticeably close during and after filming of The Changeling, so maybe she’s gotten some advice from him. But Sergio Leone to Eastwood to Jolie? Not so much.

By the way, did anyone ever see Clint on Inside The Actors Studio? He was wonderful, and he talked a lot about his directing style. My favorite was when he compared actors to horses, calling them skittish and wary of loud noises. YouTube has some good clips here – which I would recommend for Angelina too.

Matt Damon is “honored” to be mentioned in Shakira’s lyrics

Any day in which I get to watch an interview with Matt Damon or Johnny Depp is a good one, so I’m counting my blessings today. MTV’s Josh Horowitz, who is among my favorite interviewers, talked to Invictus stars Damon and Morgan Freeman about their upcoming film. Horowitz threw in some interesting questions about their other projects and also asked Matt about a Shakira song in which he’s mentioned, “Men in This Town.” The lyrics are: “Is there a prince in this fable/ For a small-town girl like me? The good ones are gone or not able/ And Matt Damon’s not meant for me.” Matt says he’s aware of the song and that Shakira even sent a “sweet note” to his wife and him along with the CD:

When MTV News caught up with Damon at the “Invictus” junket, the Oscar winner revealed his feelings about being named on the track. “I heard about this. I know, I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “Somebody told me that recently. Shakira actually sent my wife and I her new [CD] with a sweet note. We know her and she’s great, and I’m honored to be in one of her lyrics.”

It’s easy for Damon to understand a woman like Shakira. His wife, Luciana, was born in Argentina. “Oh yeah, [I'm a fan],” he said. “I live in a Latin house. That’s just the way it is.”

Shakira recently sat down with MTV News to chat about the song and explained that Damon’s name was just the right fit for the tune. “I know Matt Damon,” she said. “I know him and his wife. It’s all good. This is a song and Damon really rhymed with the other word. Matt Damon is actually a terrific dude — I’m saying it in a good way. What I’m actually saying is there aren’t many great guys out there and Matt Damon is one of them. I love Matt Damon. He’s so great. He’s a good sport, too.”

[From MTV]

There’s more interesting stuff in the interview, which is split into several segments on MTV’s site – you can watch them back to back here. Morgan Freeman sort-of confirms that director Chris Nolan will be back for a third Batman film, but it’s more of an instinct he has than a certainty. He said “I know, I just know, that Chris is working on number three. He couldn’t possibly not be.” He also said that he’d like to see a catwoman villain in the next installment, and that he had someone in mind but that he wasn’t going to name names. When Horowitz brought up Angelina Jolie as a potential catwoman Freeman actually made a sexy growling noise! It was cute.

Damn said that he was originally up for the role played by Josh Brolin in Milk and that he had done his research. A scheduling conflict interfered when the film had to be pushed up. Damon said it worked out the way it was supposed to. “Josh was phenomenal. The movie gets who the movie should get.” He also confirmed that he was considering the role of Harvey Dent in Batman, but that a scheduling interfered with that one too.

Horowitz also has a series of interviews with Clint Eastwood (watch them here). The best part is when he asks about his daughters Francesca, 16, and Morgan, 13, and their interests. One is a big Taylor Swift fan, and Eastwood says he also likes Taylor Swift’s music. “I didn’t switch off of a jazz station to hear it. Sometimes you listen to pop radio just to hear what’s going on.” He also said he knew who Lady Gaga was and that “I know she’s very big… and my kids have listened to her.” As for Twilight, he said he didn’t go to see New Moon with his daughters, but that his wife went and “It’s not that I’m a bad parent or anything. I just thought maybe I’d like my wife take that one.”

Invictus is out in the US tomorrow, December 11, and it looks like pure Oscar bait. It’s a true story about Nelson Mandela working with a top South African rugby player to help unite the country in his first term in 1995. Here’s the trailer.
