If there was every any doubt that Hollywood is simply an exaggerated version of high school, then look no further than this sampling of Rihanna’s recently Instagrammed pictures as well as Chris Brown’s childish behavior in response to almost anything. This time around, Chris is throwing a hissy fit because — according to Life & Style, which somehow keeps tabs on things like this — Rihanna decided to follow Drake on Instagram, and she did so at 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. Apparently Chris pays way too much attention to who his lady follows because he logged on the next day to his Twitter account and stopped following Rihanna’s tweets. Such drama, right?

It cracks me up that Chris can’t handle his girlfriend following his rival on Instagram, but I guess he’s still all sore about he and Drake’s NYC nightclub brawl last summer. Supposedly, Rihanna and Drake were doing the deed in 2010 when Rihanna was smart enough to not be talking to Chris, and apparently Chris still feels threatened by Drake.

So I guess maybe Chris and Rihanna are officially “off” again, which should make his dad happy. Over the weekend, Clinton Brown spoke with the NY Daily News about how he didn’t want Chris to date Rihanna any longer: “You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical.” Clinton also expressed worry that this relationship would end in tragedy, which is interesting since it’s widely speculated that Chris grew up in a violence-filled home. For what it’s worth, Chris and Rihanna have reportedly blown off Clinton’s advice because “not everybody is going to get their love.” Of course, that love can be shattered by something as little as Rihanna following Drake on Instagram, which is too silly for words.

It’s looking more and more like the initial reports of Chris Brown and Drake’s brawl were exaggerated or misinformed. Yes, some stuff totally went down, and yes, Chris got beat and Drake was there, somewhere. But 24 hours after the incident, we’re starting to get a better idea of what went down. An eyewitness told Us Weekly: “It was a huge fight… Chris and Drake never got in each other’s faces… It was entourage versus entourage, never Drake versus Chris.” Apparently, the opposing entourages were the ones really getting physical, and it was some unknown bystander who threw the bottle at Chris’s face. The eyewitness did claim that Drake seemed “irked” by Chris, but that Drake was already walking away and out of the club when the melee broke out. Drake even had his rep issue a statement about the incident:

The vibe inside New York City’s W.i.P. nightclub on Wednesday night was definitely heated. According to online reports, Drake was involved in a brawl with Rihanna’s ex Chris Brown Wednesday night at the club. And Brown even Tweeted a photo of his gashed chin, which he later took down.

Drake’s rep denies his involvement in the alleged incident, telling PEOPLE in a statement: “Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to a person or damage to property.”

And Brown’s rep tells PEOPLE that the R&B star, girlfriend Karrueche Tran and friends “were victims of a brutal attack last night at W.i.P. They sustained several injuries. Chris and his party are cooperating with New York authorities who are pursuing this incident further.”

Meanwhile, a source at the club tells PEOPLE that “words were exchanged.”

According to the NYPD, five unidentified people were injured in the scuffle, but were treated only for cuts and nothing more serious.

TMZ claims that Drake was definitely trying to instigate something, flipping the bird to Chris or Chris’s bodyguards, and trash-talking about Rihanna and such. Radar reports that immediately following the fight, “Chris quickly called his lawyer in the minutes after the attack. Contrary to reports Chris didn’t flee from the scene, it was a very fluid situation and Chris just wanted to make sure that his girlfriend, Karreuche Tran, was safe… Luckily for Chris, his attorney happened to already be in New York City and he has been talking with detectives from the NYPD and with management at the nightclub. Chris, Karreuche and other members of his entourage will fully cooperate with law enforcement.”

Radar’s source also says, “Chris’ handlers told him to take the [Twitter] picture and the Twitter entry down immediately. It just wasn’t the right thing to do. Chris was obviously upset and recognized that he should follow the advice so he promptly did so. Chris will do whatever is asked of him and will be formally questioned about the club melee.”

I hate to say this… but I don’t think this whole thing can be blamed on Chris Brown. It really sounds like Drake was trying to start something, and Drake walked away from the fight after getting everyone riled up. I mean… I’m not defending Chris or anything (God help me), but it really sounds like Drake and his entourage had equal responsibility for what went down.

UPDATE: Radar has a new story this morning – which you can read here – claiming that multiple sources and eyewitnesses are telling them and the NYPD that Drake “started” the club brawl by throwing the bottle at Chris. A source close to the NYPD says, “Independent eyewitnesses have told detectives from the New York Police Department that Drake absolutely started the fight by throwing a bottle at Chris. It was intended to hit Chris and no other person. None of this would have happened if Drake hadn’t thrown the bottle. It was extremely loud in the club and there was a lot of yelling. Once Drake threw the bottle at Chris all hell broke loose. There is no evidence that Chris instigated the brawl, he only acted in self defense and he got out of the club as quickly as possible.” Yeah. I actually think that’s what happened.

Violence is never the answer. I do not promote violence (or I really, really try not to). But is it okay to laugh a little bit when some dumb punk-ass gets a well-deserved beatdown from a Canadian? You know you’ve pissed off a lot of people when it’s a Canadian who gives you a whoopin’. (Note to Canadians: I’m just saying that you guys have an international reputation for being nice and non-aggressive.) Anyway, so it is with Chris Brown… I was actually thinking about writing something about the reports that Chris and Rihanna seem to be circling each other yet again. But this story is so much more interesting. Apparently, Chris and Canadian rapper Drake were in the same NYC nightclub last night. Chris sent some champagne to Drake, and Drake sent it back to Chris with a note about Rihanna. Rihanna and Drake have long been circling each other too – many hoped that Ri and Drake would end up together at some point. Anyway, once Drake sent the champers back, chaos ensued. And Chris got beat up by a Canadian:

MediaTakeOut.com just learned that rapper Drake and his entourage got into a FIGHT… with CHRIS BROWN at the popular AFTER HOURS NYC nightclub WIP.

According to MULTIPLE MediaTakeOut.com snitches inside, Chris and Drake have had a DIFFICULT relationship since three years ago – when Rihanna CHEATED on Chris, with Drake. Chris has HELD A GRUDGE against Drake for years.

Well last night at WIP, we’re told that Chris reportedly sent over a bottle of champagne to Drake’s table, as a sort of peace offering. We’re not sure WHAT happened next, but we’re hearing UNCONFIRMED REPORTS that Drake sent the bottle back to Chris with a message to the effect of – “I’m f*ckng the love of your life [Rihanna], deal with it.”

Whatever message Drake sent back caused Chris to immediately fly into a rage – and he CONFRONTED Drake and his entourage – which included ANOTHER Chris Brown rival, rapper Meek Mill. Meek Mill also had a relationship with Rihanna.

Well according to our snitch, Drake PUNCHED Chris in the face and before Chris could retaliate, someone (#teamnosnitch#) popped Chris in the mouth with a BOTTLE, multiple times. And as a result, Chris was LEAKING LIKE A FAUCET!!!

Security immediately swooped in and broke up the fight. Drake and ‘em immediately LEFT the club, before POLICE arrived. Chris, we’re told left under his own power – and later went to the HOSPITAL, to get his face sewn shut.

You know what this reminds me of? I used to work for a man who did domestic violence counseling, and he told me that most of the time, the men who beat women will go out of their way to avoid confronting other men. Chris Brown is all “tough” when it comes to beating the crap out of his girlfriend (or a window), but when it comes to confronting another man, Chris gets his ass handed to him. True, it sounds like Drake was the aggressor and the instigator, and that makes me think less of him. It also sounds like Chris was ganged-up on by some dudes who were just waiting for any reason to kick his ass. Which I can’t cosign, but I can chuckle.

TMZ reports that the fight definitely took place, and that both Drake and Chris’s entourages were involved. The NYPD arrived after the fight, but both Drake and Chris had left the club and no arrests were made. A few hours later, Chris tweeted “How u party wit rich n**** that hate? Lol… Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!.” And he tweeted a photo of his face (which had a piece missing) – but he deleted the tweets later.

Did you hear the story of that reformed neo-Nazi who had multiple very painful laser treatments to remove the skinhead tattoos all over his face? That’s what I thought of when I saw the photo of this woman with “Drake” tattooed across her head in this super ugly block font. It’s something that will stay with her forever barring extreme measures, but at least she has the option of growing bangs or wearing hats. Unlike the neo-Nazi guy, it’s not an offensive tattoo – it merely signifies that she’s a fool. Canadian singer/autotune abuser Drake knows all about this tattoo, and he blames the tattoo artist for helping this woman realize her dream of having his name permanently emblazoned on her forehead. Drake said the guy is a “f’ing a**hole” and “should never do tattoos again.” He also said he would like “to talk to this girl and understand it all.” That’s probably exactly why she did it. She tatted his name on her forehead, and, as promised, Drake has confirmed that he knows she is for real. He’s not 100% pleased, though.

The rapper on Friday spoke out about the California woman who got his name tattooed in huge block letters across her forehead, calling her “incredible,” but the artist who did it “a f*cking asshole.”

“I want to meet her and understand what happened,” he told LA radio host Mando Fresko. “That’s cool though, I feel you 100%, that to me is absolutely incredible.”

As for the artist, Kevin Campbell, Drake put out a warning.

“The guy who tatted is a f*cking as*hole though, I will tell you that,” he said. “I don’t f*ck with that guy. F*ck you to that tat artist by the way. And you should lose your job and should never do tattoos again and I don’t f*ck with you. And if I ever see you, I’m a f*ck you up.”

For his part, the artist told Vice Magazine that he wasn’t exactly keen on doing the ink in the first place.

“She was really psyched about it. She had the sh*tty font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead,” he said. “She acted as if she had planned it out for a while, but I’m not really sure how much extended coherent thought could actually go into getting such a stupid tattoo on your forehead.”

However, that mea culpa will probably get drowned out by this: “The funny thing is, I didn’t know who Drake was,” Campbell admitted. “I figured it was her hood or some shit, not some goofnugget R&B dude.”

So is it the tattoo artist’s fault for helping this woman get a tattoo he knew was terrible and that he admitted was stupid? It bothers me that the tattoo artist would so thoroughly diss the tattoo, but that he took the money and went through with it anyway. They should have some sort of policy against facial tattoos. Unless they don’t care and just want the cash. That’s obviously the case here.

Drake is no stranger to tattoos. He has a giant tattoo of deceased singer Aaliyah’s face on his back.

Because I read Bossip regularly, I know that Drake and Nicki Minaj have been rumored to be kickin’ it for a while. Apparently, Nicki and Drizzy are genuinely tight, even if they aren’t really boning. They seem like friends, and two people that seem to “get” each other. Drizzy has even joked about making Nicki his wife, and they engage in Twitter flirting and such. So… basically, this report is not surprising.

The new year started off on a high note for Nicki Minaj and Drake. While both stars were hosting separate parties in Miami for New Year’s Eve, Drake couldn’t wait to cozy up to the pint-size, neon-haired Nicki.

“Right after the clock struck midnight, Drake left his party at the W South Beach and dashed over to Nicki’s Moët & Chandon-sponsored bash at Mansion,” a spy tells us. The singers, who have collaborated on songs before, “were dancing and cuddling all night.”

The duo partied until 4 a.m. and then were spotted leaving together.

Drake’s last high-profile romance was with fellow singer Rihanna. But Nicki and Drake have been linked together in the past, especially after Drake jokingly tweeted that the two got married. “Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and don’t stare at her too long,” Drake tweeted last August. “She’s finally mine.”

The only thing that surprises me slightly is that Rihanna isn’t already riding Drake after her split from Matt Kemp. Perhaps Rihanna has her eye on someone else. Perhaps she knew that Drake and Nicki have something going on, and she didn’t want to interfere. God knows, Nicki seems like the kind of girl who would shank someone over a dude.

Last week, I made this Bossip story the lead link for the day – Bossip had video of Matt Kemp maybe/probably creeping out on Rihanna with some skeezy club girl. To be fair to Matt, he was with a group of friend-types, and the girl could have just been a friend. To be fair to Bossip, the girl looked like she was trying to pass her phone number, and Matt was all “Not in front of the paparazzi, slut.” Anyway, Matt Kemp’s fidelity is in question. And now Hello Beautiful and Terez Owens (amongst other urban sites) are reporting the rumor that Rihanna dumped him:

Matt Kemp and Rihanna have been dating for quite a while..Throughout their relationship, rumors of cheating on both sides surfaced daily.. Now the baseball star and his pop star girlfriend have called it quits.With Kemp smack dab in the middle of his off-season, and Rihanna traveling the globe promoting her music, the two slowly drifted apart..Kemp’s penchant for clubbing was also partly to blame for the demise of their relationship..

My sources tell me Kemp left a Hollywood club last week with two girls in tow and brought them home..My eyewitness who was there, tells me the two girls both crashed in Matt’s room the entire night..I doubt he was reading them bedtime stories..

Rihanna was ready to move on as well..Her reported romance with Drake was semi responsible for the fights that eventually lead to the split..I wouldn’t be surprised if they rekindled a few times..but my source tells me it’s officially over. -TO
