Halle Berry’s extreme cutout dress at the FiFi Awards: hot or too revealing?

fp_7374453_fifi_aar_17_27

fp_7374449_fifi_aar_13_27
Halle Berry was at the Fifi fragrance awards awards last night in a draped black dress with an asymmetric angular cutout around the side of her stomach. Apart from the bizarre middle of the dress she otherwise looked flawless. I love her stacked gold hoop earrings that match the gold detailing on the dress. Her other accessories, a chunky black ring and clutch, are minimal and just serve to highlight how gorgeous she is. She wore very understated strappy heels and overall she worked that look. If she would have just picked a dress that covered her stomach she would have knocked it out of the park. As it is, I keep staring at her paler stomach and noticing that it doesn’t match the rest of her skin tone. Cutout dresses are all the rage now, but usually the panels aren’t as wide and showy as this one.

fp_7374442_fifi_aar_06_27

fp_7374419_fifi_aar_03_27

Fergie was also there in a jarring yellow flowing gown with a single sequin strap running from the bustline to the neck. It wasn’t her worst outfit, but the color had green undertones that didn’t flatter her. Plus it looks too dressy for this event. Her makeup was pretty and neutral, but her hair looked limp and messy, like it was just air dried.

fp_7374459_fifi_aar_23_27

fp_7374458_fifi_aar_22_27

Kate Walsh wore a burgundy strapless cocktail dress accented with a skinny black belt. She looks really hot here and like she put some thought into it and didn’t try too hard.

fp_7374462_fifi_aar_26_27

Mary J. Blige was in a fitted floor length white sequin gown. I think she overdid it with the accessories, but it’s a pretty dress and I see what she was going for.

fp_7374457_fifi_aar_21_27

Padma Laksmi had on a busy strapless fuschia number with a sweetheart neckline. I don’t like it from far away but when you zoom in it’s actually quite striking.

Kate Walsh talks about not having kids: “I feel like a loser”

walsh1

For some reason, I’ve always kind of liked Kate Walsh. I’ve never really paid attention to her work on television or anything, but in interviews, she comes across as kind of brassy redheaded bitch, which I appreciate. I get tired of the wilting flowers and the girls who are too weak to speak or engage. Anyway, Kate covers the April issue of More Magazine, and she’s still talking about her 2008 divorce (after a whirlwind romance and engagement), and how she always pictured herself a traditional wife and mother:

On her tabloid divorce:
“Oh my God. The worst thing ever. It was so public, and yet it was so legal-embroiled. You couldn’t talk about anything…”

On lessons learned from marriage and a short courtship:
“I’ve always had the courage thing down, but then I had to develop the rest. I’ve learned to seek other people’s counsel more. That’s a good part of growing up.”

On not having children:
“I feel like a loser. I would definitely love to be a parent. But I definitely don’t think I want to do it on my own. Things are just going to go the way they go… I thought I’d be married and have three or four kids. I always knew I wanted to be an actress, but I think I always wanted a quote-unquote normal life because I had a very untraditional upbringing.”

On aging:
“It certainly requires you to take care of yourself. But I like to eat food, and I don’t diet,” she says. “I do Pilates, and hike with my dog. As you get older, everything changes. Everything starts getting … looser. But I think it’s important to accept that. I’m lucky. I’ve got pretty good genes. But I think it’s a weird thing to fight it.”

[From Huffington Post & People Mag]

Is it wrong to admit that I too sometimes feel like a “loser” because I am childless/child-free? I’ve always been kind of ambivalent about the whole motherhood thing personally, but I also worry that I’d make a pretty crappy mom. I’m a good mom to my dog – and that’s good enough for me right now. I still have several years left to make up my mind for good. Not so much for Kate – she’s more than a decade older than me! So… that actually makes me feel a bit better about myself – Kate doesn’t have it figured out either.

Kate Walsh wears a sushi dress after getting bashed by Lady Gaga fans on Twitter

kate1
Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh wore a dress adorned with sushi and sashimi on The Tonight Show on Friday. Walsh said it was in homage to Lady Gaga, some of whose fans went after her on twitter for making a comment about the meat dress that Gaga wore to the VMAs. On Twitter Walsh wroteJust saw the meat dress…dunno. Love her, but her argument for wearing it is lame and doesn’t track…” which is an accurate assessment but of course Gaga’s “monsters” went after her. That doesn’t jibe with how she explained the Twitter controversy to Leno, as she made it sound like she just joked that it looked like prosciutto that she could eat with some melon. Walsh says that she also wore the dress to bring awareness to the Oceana organization. Unlike Gaga’s real (but cheap!) meat dress, Walsh’s sushi was all fake, as she later admitted to on Twitter.

‘Private Practice’ star Kate Walsh paid tribute to Lady Gaga’s meat dress with an alternative for seafood lovers everywhere. “It’s a sushi and sashimi dress,” the “Private Practice” star told host Jay Leno on Thursday.

Walsh’s dress included a lobster-tail shoulder piece and was packed to the gills with maki rolls, bits of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and edamame, and was accessorized with a maki-roll ring and sunglasses, and peep-toe Louis Vuitton heels with a prawn across the toes.

“It’s an homage, if you will, to Lady Gaga,” Walsh explained of her outfit. “I was inspired by her meat dress.” The actress added, however, that she and the superstar singer recently hit a rough patch.

“I was on a plane during the VMAs and one of my Twitter fans said, ‘What did you think of Lady Gaga’s meat dress?’” said Walsh, who hadn’t yet seen the show since she was in transit.

“They sent me a link, I opened it up, and I was like, ‘Oh!’ The first thought I had was, like, ‘A nice plate of prosciutto with melon,’ thinking that’s kind of witty,” she told Leno. “But oh no, no, no, no! It set off the Little Monsters [Gaga's fans]. It opened up a whole can of whoop-ass.”

The pair have since patched things up, and Walsh decided to pay tribute to the “Alejandro” singer with her ensemble and also raise awareness for her favorite charity, Oceana, which aims to protect our planet and its waters.

“I’m a huge fan of Lady Gaga. Whatever her statement was with her meat dress, I thought, Why not give a shout out to one of my charities,” Walsh explained.

“These are all totally sustainable fish, by the way,” she noted of her dress. “There’s no bluefin on here. You want to stay away from that.”

[From Popeater]

You can watch the full interview on NBC.com and there’s a segment below, thanks to AOL’s popeater. Of course that old perv Leno made some dumb jokes about the sushi and said “this is the first time I thought I [would] really enjoy having some sushi.”

Walsh got flirty and asked “you feel like going fishing?

Yeah I don’t mind going fishing. Actually, I like deep sea fishing.”

Walsh said that Amy Brenneman got her into tweeting, and that she resisted at first thinking “No, that might be the end of Western civilization.” She said she’s really into it now and enjoys interacting with her fans. “There’s no other way to kind of do that. [Talk to fans] I love my fans.

She seems nice enough and the sushi dress was kind of funny. It’s clear she doesn’t take herself seriously, and you have to admire that. She’s not above using the same tactics as Gaga to get some press, but at least she’ll tell you where she got her inspiration and not make up some muddled excuse.

Kate Walsh & Rashida Jones are hooking up with Obama staffers

Rashida Jones
The weirdest thing happened when I was reading next week’s National Enquirer. The tabloid has two separate stories about Hollywood actresses getting it on with Obama administration dudes. The first story is about Rashida Jones (star of The Office and Parks and Recreation), who is dating one of President Obama’s speechwriters, a guy named Jon Favreau. To those of us who follow this crap religiously, Favreau’s name rang a bell. He’s known for several things – he’s one of Obama’s best, brightest and most favorite speechwriters, and he had a minor scandal during the end of last year’s primaries when photos were released of him drunkenly groping a Hillary Clinton cut-out. He looks like a frat boy, but he’s supposed to be a damn good writer.

According to the Enquirer, Rashida had been “miserable” after her split with John Krasinski. For a while, Favreau had a girlfriend, but as soon as mutual friends informed Rashida that Favreau was single, she moved in for the kill. The Enquirer is painting Rashida as some kind of desperate woman, which I doubt is the case:

Gorgeous actress Rashida Jones has gone from an “Office” romance to a White House love affair – with President Obama’s dashing young speechwriter!

And her new man, Jon Favreau, has made her forget all about former boyfriend and co-star John Krasinski, who quickly moved on to a relationship with “The Devil Wears Prada” star Emily Blunt after his and Rashida’s breakup, say pals.

“For Rashida, her romance with Jon couldn’t have come at a better time,” a longtime friend told the Enquirer.

“She was miserable after breaking up with John. And it really hurt for her to see him dive into a love affair with Emily soon afterward.”

The 33-year-old actress 0 now on the new NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation” – and Favreau, 27, had their official Beltway “coming out” as a couple at the recent White House Correspondents Dinner in D.C.

The pair was later scene cuddling in the wee hours of the morning at an intimate after-party, and they’ve also been spotted getting cozy on a couch at a trendy Georgetown-area bar.

“Rashida is just crazy about Jon, said the source. “She not only finds him handsome, but smart and witty.”

Rashida, the daughter of legendary music producer Quincy Jones, first met Jon through mutual friends at a political fundraising function, but he was dating someone else at the time, says the friend.

“So when a pal clued her in that he’d recently broken up with his girlfriend, Rashida made her move.”

Now the couple is trying to make a long-distance relationship work – he works in Washington, D.C. and she’s based in Hollywood.

But “Rashida is already making plans to spend time with him on the East Coast this summer,” added the friend.

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, June 1 2009]

Here’s the thing – it’s not like there aren’t pretty girls in Washington. Granted, they’re usually sleep-deprived and covered in ink, but they’re good people, and they put out. At some point, Favreau is going to go with what’s at hand… and perhaps Rashida will too, once the novelty of sleeping with someone who has the president’s ear wears off. Maybe I just don’t see a long-distance Hollywood-to-Washington relationship working in the long-term.

Kate Walsh
Kate Walsh’s situation is a bit different. At least, the Enquirer is painting Kate with less desperation and more cougar-hood. Kate went to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner with an administration official, too, the spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. But Kate knows it’s just a rebound fling, and she’s just using this poor public servant for sex. Atta girl!

Kate Walsh is shaking off the divorce blues with a rebound romance, sources say.

The “Private Practice” star stole the spotlight from the president and first lady at the annual White House Correspondents dinner when she went public with her new beau, Department of Homeland Security [deputy assistant secretary for public affairs] stud Sean Smith.

“Kate wants to prove, most of all to her ex, that she can still land a hot, successful man,” a pal told the Enquirer. “She’s ready for love again.”

Kate was an early Obama supporter, and she’s been “phone friends” with Sean for months, said the source.

“When Kate scored two tickets to the Correspondents Dinner on May 9, she asked Sean to be her date,” said the pal.

“They were all over each other, and Sean sent flowers afterward. They’ve seen each other twice since then, and he calls her every day.”

“Sean is just the kind of guy she needs… Kate learned her lesson the first time out. She’s not rushing into anything,” the source said. “She wants to enjoy dating and being single.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, June 1 2009]

See, that’s how you fool around with a public servant (not that I would know, cough, cough). Love ‘em and leave ‘em. When I first started reading the stories, and before I had gotten to names of these guys, I just had my fingers crossed that President Obama’s body man Reggie Love wasn’t one of these guys. Reggie Love is my favorite. He’s a Duke graduate, NCAA champion, and absolutely gorgeous. He and Obama famously played basketball every day there’s an election, and there are a lot of anxious women out there hoping that Reggie will bring the love to them. The Huffington Post recently ran a best-of slideshow about Reggie and Obama’s “bromance”, and it’s just lovely.

Here are photos of Reggie Love – he didn’t hook up with anyone that we know of, he’s just hot. Jon Favreau is shown working on his computer. (It’s hard to find pics of him due to the fact that he has the same name as the actor. I also had a hard time finding photos of Sean Smith.) Credit: WENN.com. Kate Walsh’s ex accuses her of hiding assets

Kate Walsh
Kate Walsh is having divorce issues. Alex Young, her estranged husband (soon to be ex) has demanded a full accounting of their joint assets. Young has been so forceful about the accounting, the accounting firm has taken out a protective order on him.

The crux of the problem seems to be the lavish home Young and Walsh bought and furnished together during their 14-month marriage. TMZ is reporting that Walsh paid for the bulk of the home and its furnishings, and when Young left, Walsh was left paying all the bills. Walsh now not only has all of the bills to pay, she has a home that has drastically lost market value, sinking any hope Young could have about a generous asset split.

They were only a married couple for 14 months, but the nasty divorce between Kate Walsh and Alex Young has just gotten uglier.

We’ve obtained legal papers filed last Friday by Young, who claims the accounting firm he and Walsh used has turned on him by refusing to ante up a full accounting of joint assets. But wait till you hear what they are arguing over.

London & Co., the accounting firm, filed legal papers earlier this month, essentially asking a judge to tell Young to get lost. The firm wants a protective order against Young, claiming it has given him all the financial info he needs but he keeps making more demands. Now Young’s lawyer is fighting the protective order, claiming London & Co. is acting like a P.R. firm for Walsh and that the protective order reads like a “press release to benefit one client, Ms. Walsh.”

Young says a month before they got married back in 2007, they bought a multi-million dollar house together and furnished it with expensive stuff, and London & Co. refuses to give him an accounting. But we know what went down — fact is, Kate made the lion’s share of the down payment and the house has gone down in value since they bought it — so there are no profits to split. Plus, he walked out on Kate, leaving her with a huge bills and all the monthly expenses.

So why is Young making such a big stink over assets that are pretty clean? It’s a little perplexing. It’s not like he needs the dough. We know he makes more than a million bucks a year as a bigwig at FOX. She makes around $3 mil a year on “Private Practice” and other projects.

So let’s review. He leaves her, sticks her with the mortgage, he makes a bundle, but he’s dragging out the divorce like a remake of “War of the Roses.” So, we ask, what’s the deal?

From TMZ

So is Walsh hiding assets? I doubt it – she’s probably hiding a few bad investments and she doesn’t want people to know she’s living in a house she might not be able to afford. A “protective order” basically amounts to a restraining order, which is a pretty extreme method of getting someone to back off. Is this all a ploy to get some leverage in a divorce? They only spent 14 months together – how much animosity can there be?

Kate Walsh says shes looking for love after her brief marriage ended

wenn2300064
The ink is barely dry on Kate Walsh’s divorce petition, let alone her actual divorce papers, and she’s already out looking for love.

“I don’t think anyone gets married thinking that they will get divorced,” the Private Practice actress, 41, says in the March issue of Redbook. “We certainly did not.

“Alex and I still care for each other, and I wish him nothing but the best,” she continues. “The silver lining to this, however, is that I have a wonderful family and a great group of friends who really showed their support and encouragement, and for that I am truly grateful.”

The pair separated last November due to irreconcilable differences, according to court papers Young filed.

Walsh says her friends don’t judge her for divorcing so quickly.

“I have gone through ups and down, and it’s human nature for someone to judge and say, ‘Here’s what you need to do,’” she says. “But the most truly useful thing to do is to shut up and listen and tell the person that you’re there for them unequivocally.”

She’s resolved to move forward.

“I have always been the girl who keeps on trying. I try! I try!” she says.

Walsh also opens up about being deeply insecure when it comes to dating.

“I second-guess myself all the time. I make a decision and then wonder if I made the wrong choice,” she says.

“Sometimes I come off as confident, but really I am a quivering little wharf rat underneath who is radically insecure and deeply in need of love and understanding,” she goes on.

Us Magazine

Kate has been rumored to be dating her very attractive co-star David Sutcliffe for several months now, I’m guessing the whole ‘need for love’ comment is coming right before a ‘look I found it’ interview.

Kate married her husband Alex after dating for only seven months, then divorced after 15 months of marriage. Dare I suggest that she wasn’t working at her marriage? A friend of mine cynically suggested that, when you get married, most people know that divorce is an option, so it just isn’t viewed as seriously anymore, and is certainly not a lifelong commitment.

It seems a little soon for Kate to already be looking for love, she’s only been single for three months, but maybe it’s just her way of being optimistic. What else can you do when you are going through a public divorce?

Kate Walsh counterfiles for divorce

wenn1935543
The short lived union between “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh and her estranged husband Alex Young just got a little messier. Young filed for divorce first, saying that the pair had separated on Nov. 22, just before Thanksgiving. Now, Walsh has filed her own petition stating that they separated two weeks earlier than that. You know a divorce is getting ugly when the two parties quibble over the exact date they broke up.

Kate Walsh’s marriage was facing cancellation even sooner than we thought.

Two weeks after her husband filed for divorce, the Private Practice star has submitted her own paperwork asking for a permanent split from 20th Century Fox exec Alex Young.

Both parties cite irreconcilable differences as the reason their 15-month union wound down so soon, but while Young’s filing listed their date of separation as Nov. 22, Walsh’s counterfiling has the break coming five days earlier.

Not in question is the fact that the duo tied the knot Sept. 1, 2007, in front of more than 100 guests, including a number of Walsh’s former Grey’s Anatomy costars.

[From E!Online]

It seems a little silly for both of them to be filing their own petitions, especially since they were only married for 15 months. Meanwhile, Star is reporting that Kate Walsh is enjoying her newly single status and feels like a “weight” has been lifted from her. Yeah, because being married for 15 months is such a huge burden.

Getting dumped was the best thing that ever happened to Kate Walsh! Less than two weeks after her husband, Alex Young, filed for divorce, Kate couldn’t be happier.

“She feels like a major weight has been lifted from her back,” a source tells Star. Instead of moping around in her fuzzy pajamas, the Private Practice star has spent time buying flowers, redecorating, planning a vacation and generally acting like a fabulous single woman.

“Kate never wanted to get married,” a source reveals. “She just felt she had to because she turned 40 and her family was pressuring her.”

After a whirlwind seven-month courtship, Kate, 41, married 20th Century Fox exec Alex Young, 38, in September 2007. But their romance quickly soured.

Kate regretted the marriage, but she smiled for the cameras. “Alex was too controlling,” the source adds. “He wanted her to be a perfect little Martha Stewart wife, but she’s not like that. After a few months, she started thinking, ‘What have I gotten myself into?’”

[From Star Magazine print version, Jan. 5, 2009]

Maybe Kate should have asked herself that before she married Young. Seven months is nowhere near enough time to get to know someone well enough to decide to spend your life with them! It seems like both Kate and Alex are regretting their choice – but hopefully they can move on and not drag things out.

Kate Walsh’s co-star may be reason for the end of her marriage

bow wow 200708
Kate Walsh and Alex Young in happier days. Photo credit: WENN.

Last week, we told you that “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh’s 15-month marriage is over. It was just as sudden as the marriage itself, and many were wondering if perhaps the couple rushed into things. Now, new reports are surfacing that the reason for the abrupt ending could be the off screen chemistry between Kate and her TV co-star, David Sutcliffe.

As they held each other at Katherine Heigl’s 30th birthday party, no one could have though anything was wrong between Kate Walsh and her husband of just 14 months. “They were dancing up a storm, having a really good time together,” one partygoer tells Star. “There were no signs that there was any trouble in paradise.”

Yet, just a week after Katherine’s Nov. 15 bash, Kate and hubby Alex Young called it quits, according to divorce papers he filed in Los Angeles. So what went wrong in such a short time?

Friends say one of the main reasons is Kate’s growing closeness with David Sutcliffe, the divorced hunk who plays her love interest on her Grey’s Anatomy spin-off.

As Kate’s character and David’s character have grown closer, so have the actors. “Kate really likes David, and knowing that didn’t help Alex’s fragile ego,” a friend of the actress said. “Kate and David had a real connection playing lovers on the show, and she didn’t seem to have that with her own husband.”

Kate’s determination to keep her struggling show alive meant spending more time at the “office,” regularly working 16-hour days on the show. Much of her time was spent with David, 39, who just became a regular on the show.

“Kate was too busy working – she hardly even saw Alex anymore,” says the source. “She looked forward to being on the set and really liked where the show’s storyline was taking her. But then, who wouldn’t with a co-star like David?”

A second source adds, “She’s one of those people who needs constant male attention.” And he gave it to her. “She spent a lot of time in her trailer with David.”

[From Star print version, Dec. 29, 2008]

Sounds like that show is just as dramatic behind the scenes as it is on screen! I’ve never seen it, but based on photos of this David guy, he is pretty hunky. Still, it was only a few months ago that Kate was gushing about her new husband and how happy they were. But I guess if you are spending 16 hours a day with someone it’s pretty hard to remember your husband waiting for you at home. It’s a wonder anyone stays married in Hollywood, really. Beautiful people who spend all their time with other beautiful people doing love scenes – it’s really a recipe for cheating if you think about it.

Kate Walsh’s husband files for divorce after 15 months

Private Practice star Kate Walsh, 41, won’t be having a happily ever after with his husband of just 15 months. Alex Young, 37, filed for divorce from Walsh on November 22, listing “irreconcilable differences.” People has a revealing quote that Walsh gave shortly after they married that shows that they may not have been ready to rush down the aisle:

According to court papers obtained by PEOPLE, Young, 37, petitioned for a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in his Nov. 22 filing.

“The couple remain on friendly terms and sincerely hope the media will respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the pair said in a statement Thursday.

The Private Practice star, 41, wed Young – a production co-president at 20th Century Fox – on Sept. 1, 2007, in the town of Ojai, just north of Los Angeles, after becoming engaged in May.

In October 2007, Walsh, then a newlywed, talked openly about their whirlwind relationship, telling Ellen DeGeneres on her show, “There was this kind of funny moment, after we were like we’re married and all of the hoopla was over and we were like, ‘What do we do now?’ ”

“We’re married,” she said at the time. “Alright, I guess we just live and love and learn from each other.”

[From People]

That’s got to be hard to deal with right before the holidays. There is not a lot of gossip about Walsh and while I remember hearing that she may have been having trouble in her marriage it’s not something the tabloids mentioned much. In the November 24 issue of The National Enquirer there was a story that she was trying for a baby with Young and that “Kate’s vowed to friends that she’ll have a baby in 2009… so she and Alex are working overtime to make their dream come true.” Maybe Walsh will have that chance again with someone she’s more compatible with.

Who’s This?

Star Magazine has a pretty interesting before and after comparison of celebrities in an article this week titled “Before they Had Stylists,” but it could alternately be called “Before They Had Surgeons.” Take a look at Grey’s Anatomy star, the newly-married Kate Walsh, back in 1999. You can barely recognize her with that nose and hair.

Thanks to Televionista for the before pictures and PR Photos for the after pictures. Also thanks to that Star Magazine article, which featured this nearly-unrecognizable photo of Walsh.
