This is a cult hit, and a color even my son thinks “looks cool”. This is my favorite red polish ever. It’s blue-based, so it looks equally striking on dark skin as it does on light skin. Try it on your toes, I applied mine nearly two weeks ago and it still hasn’t chipped or lost it’s shine.

Chicago Champagne Toast
The most perfect neutral everyday polish. Works great for the office as well as for evenings or just hanging around the house. It matches nearly every outfit you might wear.

A Rose at Dawn….Broke by Noon
My daughter Zee picked this one out herself and I’m glad she introduced me to it. It’s a really fun pink, looks great on both your hands and toes. The pink looks bright in the bottle, but trust me, it’s not the type of color reserved only for teenagers going to the prom. My daughter, even though she’s only two, asked me to put this on her nails when we brought it home, she was so excited about it. (They don’t wear polish all the time, but once in while I let them, just for fun.) My skin is several shades darker than hers and it looked equally nice on me. Overall, it’s a really fun pink, and doesn’t look tacky or “too young” at all.

Britney, I know the American Music Awards are not that big of a deal and you were just presenting, not performing. That doesn’t mean you get a pass to chew gum. Remember when we talked about this? The esthetician also told you to stop lining the bottom of your eyes because it makes you look cheap. Other than that you look pretty good and I like the dress. You did break up with that jerk and have started to accept help and that’s the biggest step.

All that plastic surgery to repair her former plastic surgery seems to have done wonders for Tara Reid. Her hair and makeup look gorgeous. She must be laying off the sauce too, because she looks quite sober and clear-eyed at the AFI Festival showing of “The Fountain” in LA on Saturday.

Maybe her next movie will actually play in a theatre somewhere. Pictures [via]

It’s hard to say whether it’s Nicole’s mysterious “team of doctors” or her new hair color and more covered-up fall style that’s doing it, but she’s looking good!

Her darker hair hue has transformed her complexion from a sometimes-sallow olive to warm and tanned, while her billowy top fills her out a little bit. I’m a big fan of the boots, too - practical but chic, and a pleasant departure from those flat Roman-style sandals she was so attached to during the summer months.

Maybe Nicole decided a makeover was in order as she makes her triumphant return to the L.A. club circuit alongside Paris?

Gwyneth Paltrow is on one of her supposedly crazy diets again where you don’t eat dairy or gluten/wheat products and avoid most fruit. It’s the lead story in the celebrity section of The Sun today, and they make a big deal out of it, but it doesn’t seem so strange to me:

Gwyneth just must have started this diet, because she sure had plenty of champagne at her birthday party last month.

I have gone on diets like that and once you’re used to the routine you feel pretty healthy as long as you’re getting the right nutrients. After my son was born I went on a no-wheat no-milk diet in order to make sure my milk was digestible. Some claim that it’s a myth that food you eat passes through to your breastmilk, but I got the diet from one of Dr. Sears’ baby books and I swear my baby stopped being colicky afterwards. After a few months less passes through to the baby through the milk so I went back to eating normal food again.

A lot of people are sensitive to gluten and dairy and a “paleolithic diet” is considered quite healthy by experts. A friend of mine’s wife had MS and was nearly cured after giving up wheat and dairy. I know I am talking about diets a lot lately, but I think they really work if you’re sensible about them and eat enough.

Here is Gwyneth at Paris Fashion Week with Kim Cattrall. She doesn’t need to lose weight, but she could do something about her makeup. I really dislike it when people put eyeliner on the membranes of their eyes without putting it beneath the eye too and think it looks strange. Makeup artist rubygirl214 commented on our J.Lo looks terrible post, so I wonder what she thinks.

Jennifer Lopez’s makeup looks simply awful. That shade of green eyeshadow is hideous and coupled with that bleeding pale-pink lipstick and shiny skin she just looks bad. Wouldn’t you wipe off your face and reapply your own makeup if a colorblind makeup artist did that to you?

Lopez is being sued for $35,000 for not paying for flights she and husband Marc Anthony chartered. Maybe she’s trying to show how poor she is by wearing bad drug store makeup.

Eva Longoria’s rep released a statement on Friday stating that Eva and Tony are going through a difficult time. People magazine cites a source that says that they broke up, but are trying to work on their relationship. A friend of Tony’s is denying that they’re broken up, though. The two are in different places right now, with Eva filming “Desperate Housewives” in LA and Tony at a basketball training camp in France, so it may be a while if they ever do get back together:

Rumor has it that Tony was making out with one of his ex girlfriends at a party. Eva can be all over Jamie Foxx at the Golden Globes, but once her man starts messing around she’s not having it:

It might not be Tony’s fault he ended up with that blonde. He was denied access to the club’s VIP room, probably because Eva wasn’t with him. He had to hook up with someone else if he wanted access to anything that night.

Here’s Eva with bad hair and makeup at Ken Pave’s salon opening in Beverly Hills. (I like her dress though.) Ken is 0 for 2 with Jessica showing up in corpse makeup and now Eva looking like a warped “I Dream of Jeanie” with those super-long eyelashes, dark penciled eyebrows and half-done hair. (The crown sweep-up is usually a last-ditch effort on an exceptionally bad hair day.) He must have been too busy with his opening to assist these helpless celebrities.

I realize that overpriced black nail polish is all the rage now, but Halloween is still a month away, and the corpse makeup is doing nothing for Jessica Simpson’s image. Do you guys like this look? I’m thinking it would be pretty if it wasn’t so overdone - like not so much eyeshadow rimming the eyes and bleeding into the corner, use a darker lip color and don’t extend the lipliner beyond the natural line.

This is the second time Jessica has been out with such spooky makeup. She was seen at her sister Ashlee’s “Chicago” opening looking positively ghostly. In that case, though, she had a bizarre orange shade on ther eyes and cheeks that looked even worse than this.

I caught some probably-deserved heat for criticizing Simpson’s look when she donned big ‘ol boots paired with jeans, a huge matching purse and white polo shirt, so I’m leaving this one up to you guys.

Jessica was seen at her hairdresser Ken Pave’s salon opening in Beverly Hills on 9/29. [via] Eva Longoria and Carmen Electra were also there, and as Mollygood points out, all three of them were involved in high-profile breakups lately. Guess a girl can always turn to her opportunistic hairdresser for a little pampering and a pick-me-up. He makes you feel better even if he doesn’t do you any beauty favors. Jessica’s hair usually looks good, (that orange ‘do being the exception) even if her makeup is a bit off, and it’s not fair to blame Paves for her poor eyeshadow choices.

Ken Pave’s new line of hair extensions are being offered on the Home Shopping Network [via] For about $90, you can get a mountain of fake hair that might look good in a photoshoot, but is sure to be as obvious as the Tony Pony in person.
