Rose Hanbury hung out with Queen Camilla at the Badminton Horse Trials

Before 2024, whenever the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were getting a lot of attention, the Princess of Wales was always sent out for some counter-programming and coattail-riding, always with the message of “don’t forget about meeeee.” It’s fascinating that Kate is still… in the wind. It’s even more fascinating that Rose Hanbury, aka the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, decided to step out over the weekend at the Badminton Horse Trials. Rose went to the horse show on Sunday, the same day at Queen Camilla. They were even photographed together, with Charlotte Tilbury too.

The Mail covered Rose’s appearance as “Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, attends the final day of the Badminton Horse Trials alongside Queen Camilla and the Tindalls.” The Mail chose their words carefully: “Rose – who is married to David Cholmondeley, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley – was seen smiling and chatting in the crowds as she joined the senior royals for the event.” Like, this definitely feels like a soft-launch of “Rose is part of the royal family” and/or “we’ll see Rose around the royals a lot more in the future.” To be fair, Rose’s husband David was appointed the King’s Lord In Waiting last year – the Rocksavages are genuinely friendly with the king and queen. But it’s still interesting.

It’s actually been a couple of months since we’ve had any Rose gossip – back in March, it felt like the world caught up to the affair gossip, so much so that Rose’s lawyers went on the record, denying an affair with Prince William and threatening to sue Stephen Colbert. It’s interesting that she popped back up this weekend. Maybe she genuinely wanted to see the show-jumping, lmao.

Either this is their pathetic attempt to distract from Harry and Meghan’s fantastic tour, or the queen of side pieces is managing the slow roll out of the next side piece future queen. Either way, not a good look for Kate. Do I feel sorry for her? Umm, no.

    • Jais says:

Yeah, this feels more like Camilla’s attempt to distract from the absolutely shit press Charles is getting for refusing to see Harry. Her solution? Photographs with Rose, William’s alleged mistress. Why Rose is playing along idk? Bc she’s friends with Camilla and the King and is serving them by doing her part? But isn’t it also a hit against William and Kate? Is she also mad at them for something we don’t know about? Did William try and plant that it was bc of Camilla that Charles didn’t meet Harry? Was that part of what Kay said last week? I can’t keep all the excuses strait.

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

This move is as bold as it is stupid if it’s from camilla. Camilla this her mistress status is erased lol. This move just reinforces both their mistress status and it’s a bad look. Queen Clown clowning herself. This feels very disrespectful towards Kkkhate but I guess we’re not feeling bad. They’re just using and discarding whatever doesn’t fit in their agenda.

      • yupyup says:

@Jais I don’t think Cam cares what anyone thinks anymore. I actually think this is warning shot about her power period. “yes his is that Rose we talked about…what of it”. As for Kate, right now she could not be more irrelevant. As for Will maybe but I think it’s actually in support of William like a peace offering to remember that he is against H&M not C&C. If they make it like there is no there there then there is no story. The families are close and will always be close keep it moving nothing to see here. I do think it’s the hard launch of “Kate who?”

      • Jais says:

Hmm. But technically Camilla does care what people think. Or she wouldn’t still be friends with so many tabloid editors. Those alliances are import agreements here. And here she is making sure her and rose are pictured together.

    • Megan says:

Camilla is as petty, mean, and vindictive as the rest of them. She and Charles are perfect for one another.

      • Cara says:

Though Camilla is thrilled to publicly give her approval to a sidepiece more horsey-faced than herself, it is Stephen Colbert who should be credited for the official hard launch of sloppy seconds Rose.

      • paintybox says:

It always looks to me like Camilla is the Queen of Mean and Deception, a totally undercover major power player whose long game started when she met Charles.

  2. YeahRight says:

    Side chicks link up!

    • jemmy says:

Camilla is pure evil. This seems like the slow launch of side chick plus as someone said ” the erasure of Camilla The Mistress
      Welcome to Camilla 2.0
Besides , someone pointed out on twitter that RH looks like the lady in the TMZ / Mirror video purporting to be KKhaitw

      • Julianna says:

@Jemmy Which video? I’m confused. Do you mean the car photo of the back of head of a woman where they pretended they were dropping Keen off at an appointment? I saw a side by side picture of the same angle of Rose and she did match of that one.

      • Becks1 says:

No, she means the farm stand video. But that is definitely not Rose. It may not be Kate, but its definitely not Rose.

    • Jackiejacks says:

      Game recognizing game right there!
Look at the big smile Camilla has for Rose!!!

    • Matilda says:

Want to be a future queen of England? Well first be named after a flower, be an aristocrat and be the King’s mistress. It will be a slow roll out as the original Princess will be “pushed” to the side and then the King will ram his new queen down everyone’s throat. It’s a centuries old tradition in England.

  3. ML says:

Um, given Camzilla’s smug smiles and W’s bizarre absences and the weird messaging about K’s health…isn’t this more like Camz toying with W via Rose instead of a soft launch? Did I miss something and have QCC and W become close?

    • Danbury says:

Yes I agree. Even if they were still having an affair, I can’t see her leaving her husband for Will. For all intents and purposes (from what we can see of course), she has a great life. Why trade it in for life in a fishbowl with that fool?

      • Smart&Messy says:

Watching Camilla’s operation up close she might find the whole powerful sidechick turned to queen appealing. Maybe she is bored in Houghton Hall. Or they both just want to fxck with Kate for reasons we don’t know.

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

        She’s the next Penny.

    • Becks1 says:

This is what I think. This is similar to Camilla’s moves during January and February, when it felt like she was trolling William with all her hospital visits, etc. This isn’t a soft launch, this is trolling William again.

      • Nic919 says:

I agree. Camilla got some of her media peeps to troll William. I also think that William moved on from Rose by the time the news was made public, which is why he was so aggressive with shutting it down. If the story was ongoing the media would have had more leverage. And Kate wouldn’t have been associating with rose and David at that concert last year.

We have never gotten an ID for the blonde woman in the car as he was leaving a private club during a weeknight. That is more likely to be the current one.

      • Julianna says:

@Nic919 I believe the blonde woman in the car leaving that nightclub was the same woman he was hugging in that picture when he went out and did that PR for his homeless project. I may be wrong but they look like the same woman. I will try to get her full name again but I believe Svetlana was her first name?

      • windyriver says:

I recall gossip about a blond woman who was senior staff working for Flora and Fauna International, of which Will is patron. Also vaguely recall she was named Svetlana; the redesigned website no longer lists individual staff members. There were also rumors floated here about his connection with a London lawyer. So maybe not the same person, as the woman with FFI had a finance/accounting background I believe. Who knows.

      • Julianna says:

        @WindyRiver

You are right. I think her name is Svetlana Ignatieva. Her linkedin account still says she works for Fauna and Flora – Chief Operating Officer in London. I believe she was the woman in the car with William that night when he was leaving Oswalds.

    • Harper says:

The behind the scenes access photo with Cams and Rose is definitely Cams trolling Willy. I doubt Rose being at the horse trials is anything in and of itself; she’s an aristo and this is probably her scene.

    • WithTheAmerican says:

It’s horribly cruel thing to do to Kate. But that’s how Cam rolls. Even “cancer” doesn’t stop the Cruel Camilla bus.

  4. Hypocrisy says:

I think they use Rose as a distraction, I don’t even care really if they are having an affair truthfully. I doubt I would like her anymore than his current spouse. On a side note, is Camilla putting on weight? She’s looking a little more lumpy lately.

    • Agnes says:

I’ll be so disappointed if Rose is wasting herself on that horrible oaf William. I don’t think she is; I agree she’s being used as a distraction to deflect from Charles’s stupid petulance and make people ask once again Where Is Kate?

    • BayTampaBay says:

@Hypocrisy – You are correct! Rose is being used as a distraction because Rose generates click$ for revenue$.

Any affair Rose (and/or David) had with Peggington is clearly over and past history.

  5. OliviaOne says:

Ah look! Isn’t that the new IG rep Scott, B3l3nd, Tindall? /snark

  6. Tessa says:

Pre planned photo o p . Camilla may not be pleased at Charles rants about his beloved daughter in law. And Camilla can also embarrass will .

    • A says:

I seriouly doubt it. Kate’s been gone for a while now, and they’ve hinted she’ not coming back anytime soon therfore making her and/or William not any kind of real threat. Chuck is free to talk about his beloved daughter in-law all he wants, but it truly means nothing at this point until she comes back and steals his thunder.

    • K8erade says:

I agree. This almost feels like Camilla is lashing out.

    • Proud Mary says:

I’ve asked before and I’ll ask again: we keep hearing about how all of a sudden Kate is Charles’ beloved DIL; has anyone heard a word from Camzilla about Kate?

    • bettyrose says:

Here’s a thing that puzzles me about Cam. She’ll have no connection to the crown after Chuck passes. Why is she risking William’s rage?

      • Interested Gawker says:

Her niece was editor of the ‘Catherine the Great’ story that WanK complained about and had parts removed.

Her son was friends with some of the earliest William&Rose gossip distributors

Some aspect of this situation made William:

A: clamp down on the media with a super injunction
B: beholden to the Murdoch press and Dan Wootton

After CIII dies Cam is on her own with no royal role but the Rocksavages will resume their ancestral role under William. What if Cam has been fixing things so she retains both eyes and ears in royal affairs and keeps some measure of leverage over the heir so after her time comes to a close so William’s rage can’t harm her?

      • Liz says:

She’s so Machiavellian I wouldn’t put it past her

  7. Mika says:

    And now for something nice:

The curly hair looks very good.

    • Josephine says:

my first thought was that kkkhate was going to try curly hair if we ever see her back in the public eye.

    • KeKe Swan says:

I’m a fan of letting the curls go free, but I thought her hair looked dry and flyaway. She better hip her stylist to Cecred and get moisturized! Lol!

      • molly says:

My first reaction to the frizzy hair in the first photo: WOW, that’s serious ‘f*ck you (artisto) money’ to walk around royalty looking like you just rolled out of bed!

The pic from the front looks much younger, fresher, and prettier, so hopefully they use that for the next 50 years of scandal with her and William. She looks kind of carefree and great there.

    • Another Anne says:

Someone needs to introduce her to a good deep conditioner though.

    • Berkeleyfarm says:

I think Rose looks fine and natural. It’s a horse show outdoors and if you’re a curly girl and it’s a wet climate, the hair will do its thing unless you’ve spent multiple hours/beaucoup bux doing something about it.

I think some people really have a lot of “grooming standards” for other people that are weird and inappropriate. The whole “I’m going to BRUSH HER HAIR”/”she should COMB HER HAIR” that I see in some comments is a major squick (it would likely turn it into a clown mop). Keep your eyes on the ball that Camilla/the BM is likely to be trolling Will/Kate.

      • Karla says:

Thank you for pointing out that Beauty standards are still rooted in racism. Which is why curled hair has to be groomed and teamed otherwise it is considered unruly, unkempt and inappropriate meaning looking like native peoples‘ hair.

    • bisynaptic says:

      Looks like bed-head, to me.

    • Isabella says:

Well, Wills is no fan of curly hair. Way back in 2014, he called Kate’s hair “a nightmare.” That was the first I realized they had a bad marriage. What a jerk. Look who he said it to:

“While visiting a charity serving the homeless in London on Dec. 17, Prince William dared to call Kate’s dream-worthy hair a “nightmare.” Will was chatting with the organization’s staff and joked with a trainee hairdresser, known as Angel, that she should attempt styling Kate’s “nightmare” hair. “

  8. s808 says:

I don’t think her & W are together but loool at her popping up with C when K is down for the count.

  9. Pork Belly says:

Comb your damned hair & straighten your posture, you’re about to meet the Horse.

    • Renae says:

THIS is the femme fatale? Please!
I see nothing special about her. I don’t see her as that attractive either. Maybe its just bad pics but she ain’t all that!
Get a comb, put on something that fits. She looks sloppy.

      • Mooney says:

You’re right but then look at the historical case of Diana and Horsilla, who’s standing today?

      • WithTheAmerican says:

Yeah but Camilla was crap compared to Diana and look who’s queen.

    • Smee says:

      @porkbelly 🤣😂🤣

    • Proud Mary says:

I’m no fan of Kate’s, but I actually think she’s prettier; not in the way Diana was prettier than the horse, but still …

  10. Beverley says:

I still don’t get why Rose is considered so beautiful.
Attractive, yes. But a great beauty? meh

    • KeKe Swan says:

What’s impressive though is that she doesn’t look like she is wearing even a smidgen of makeup. If so, then her skin is pretty damn amazing.

    • Shawna says:

Her profile shots in the glossy magazines are amazing. But a lot of the appeal is how well her look and lifestyle fit in with the old aristocracy and its postwar imagery.

    • Louisa says:

Is she considered a great beauty? I do think she’s very pretty and I love the natural look.

    • Chaine says:

Maybe she is one of those people who look better in person? To me her face is kind of plain but I would love to have that head full of thick natural curly hair.

    • QuiteContrary says:

I don’t get it either, Beverly. She’s nice enough looking, but not beautiful. And she looks like a mess here.

    • Mooney says:

The RF men are not known for favouring beautiful women 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • WithTheAmerican says:

Idk, I don’t like her since learning about her Trump support, but she has a very casual, quiet confidence that Kate doesn’t have that comes with her breeding and position.

She’s very horsey country girl, and has a fragile Victorian looking face. I can see beauty there. Much more so than Kate, not that it’s a competition between them.

    • goofpuff says:

I think she is beautiful, definitely more beautiful than Kate. She has amazing skin and a gorgeous head of hair. When she is glammed up, she can look pretty gorgeous. She was a model before marrying.

Her life seems pretty good and she works so hard at Houghton Hall, getting it open to the public, bringing in art displays for people to view. It would be a mistake to leave that for William who is just not worth it.

  11. brincalhona says:

Has the UK run out of hair brushes and conditioner since I last lived there?

    • Shawna says:

Sigh. If she looked like a Karshashian, we’d be complaining about that too.

Why can’t a woman be in public without a ridiculous amount of grooming? I have more things to do with my time than unfrizz my hair, even though I’m scared of people judging me. My time is worth more doing the things I care about than making myself universally glossy in case someone wants to take a picture of me, and Rose’s vibe is that she feels the same way.

      • Underhill says:

I second your message. I get uncomfortable when women are roasted for their appearance, but men are given endless passes…Anyone can have an off day, a bad hair day. I fail to see the point.

    • Jaded says:

As I commented below, it’s how aristos roll. Being overly done up and polished is for the Kates of the world, it smacks of “arriviste” style. As an aside, I have hair like Rose’s and no matter how much conditioner and styling product I use, if I’m out on a damp windy day it goes curly/frizzy. And you know what? I don’t care.

      • esquire says:

Yes! Aristos like Rose have nothing to prove, she doesn’t have to look like a model to attract a rich man, unlike Kate …

      • Pork Belly says:

Aristos tend not to be as fawning or sycophantic when in the presence of royalty. In Rose’s case she’s almost deliberately careless in her appearance, as if she were only meeting relatives or a slight acquaintance.

      • Aurora says:

I think that Kate is prettier, but she’s more beautiful. A lot of it comes from innnate self-aplomb and the intellectual advantages of an echlectic lifestyle supported by money cushions.

    • Joy says:

As someone w/ curly hair very similar to Rose’s, her hair is fine. You try having curly hair and see how you do. Once it’s conditioned, you can’t brush it or it will look like bozo’s hair.

  12. Nanea says:

Seeing *the Tindalls* at that event reminds me – has anyone ever asked all those delulu Derangedeers like Angela LeVile, Natasha Cannell and others when Mike will take over at IG?

Wondering what their excuses are after the past week.

    • Jane says:

Mike looks like he is on his way to MAGA rally. Which is probably right up his alley.

  13. Jks says:

Camilla looks like an upholstered train seat from the 80s.

  14. Beth says:

Not to beat a dead horse (ha!) but WHAT is happening with Rose’s hair?!? Is it an English thing to walk around looking like you don’t know how to groom yourself?? It looks like depression hair-when you can’t be bothered to wash it, brush it, condition it, or anything. And the less said about Camilla’s, the better (beating dead horses, etc.)

    • garrity says:

I think it may be the carefree country-aristocrat can’t-be-bothered look – it’s what the truly mega wealthy (not celebrities) sometimes look like, because it conveys that they’re so rich and powerful that they literally don’t need to impress anybody.

    • Wagiman says:

Even at the state dinner Rose had that just threw on a dress and put my unwashed hair up and barely any makeup.. It’s the confidence of the aristocracy. The real aristocracy who don’t need to impress people. It’s what makes Kate look so laughable. All that effort and the results are what we expect : very ordinary with extra photoshop

      • sparrow says:

I’ll agree with this totally, which means, OK, saying that my partner is from old money. We align in that we’ve both been brought up in very rural England and are very relaxed about our clothes, our house, which is in need of redecorating all the time, our dogs, car, kids. It can cause a horrible snobbery wherein, as though you look like you have no money, at least you don’t look like you’ve just made your money, which means thankfully you don’t look like someone like Kate and her ilk – people with massive brand new cars, probably personalised number plates, best clothes, always looking just out of the spa, faux accents. There is an element amongst some of my family/friends who find fault with new money and enjoy putting people down for it. It’s actually not a nice characteristic. Old money was new once.

    • Jaded says:

It’s typical aristo style — don’t look too polished, it’s gauche and an obvious show of parvenu money. Same with their home decor, everything is shabby chic because it’s many generations old and priceless.

      • esquire says:

Yes, Jaded. You encapsulate how aristos live and their public image very well.

      • Will Scarlet says:

        Not necessarily priceless but practical.
ie Re-upholster old chairs, sofas etc rather than buying new. Wear clothes until they wear out rather than follow fashion. Quite sensible really.

    • sparrow says:

It is a very English thing. Sometimes. That’s what my hair looks like unless I make a real effort, and the people I mix with are often similarly unkempt. If you’re going to be working from home, out in the woods with the dogs, then cooking up a storm for the kids, why bother. Would I still wear my hair like this to an event? It’s been known! My hair is so thick. Sometimes I do this thing of brushing it and then pulling a turtle neck down over my head, which kind of straightens it out and keeps it in place around my neck. God, I sound like a slattern. But a lot of our friends are like this. Our car is a mess. My partner looks like the gardener. He’ll wear a proper long sleeved shirt all year round, but the rest of him is scruff city. He has money but you wouldn’t know it. We had an electrician who thought Mr Sparrow was a painter decorator, such is the don’t care look of him.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

sparrow, I love being retired, because this is me now. I did all of the frou frou for my career. Now, I dress the way I want. My hair usually looks decent, but make up? Well, the minimum possible.

Well, I hope Mr. Sparrow has some good painter decorator ideas!

    • ohwell says:

      The tabloids ridiculed messy Cressie.

I like an unpolished look but Cressida was a little too much. On the other hand, Rose looks good.

Kate and Meghan’s style are a little too polished for me.

  15. Birds of a feather are flocking together. Guess we won’t be seeing Can’t make a return.

  16. Harper says:

I think Rose is gorgeous; naturally pretty and stylish. It feels like The Fail is toying with Willy by making a story about her being out with the royals. Even so, it is such a low level trolling, despite Willy giving the tabs NOTHING right now.

    • QuiteContrary says:

I just don’t see it. She looks insipid to me.

      • Harper says:

Rose is definitely not insipid. I’ve followed Houghton Hall on Instagram for a few years now. But check out Houghton and the art installations she sets up each summer. Kate has the art history degree, but Rose is the one that supports artists and showcases their work. She seems to be a great curator of the treasures of Houghton Hall. I’ve

      • Harper says:

My post didn’t give me a chance to edit which was weird. ANYWAY, Rose seems quite cultural and charitable as she is also a visible supporter of EACH, the children’s hospice of which Kate is a patron and shows up occassionally.

    • sparrow says:

Harper. I agree. She has a delicate beauty with a sexy undertone. I love her face.

      • WithTheAmerican says:

Yeah agree, I don’t like her Tory alignment but she has a fragile delicate beauty and I like that she’s not all try hard climber everything perfect.

      • ohwell says:

Rose and her sister scream desperate social climbers!

No reason two young women would marry ugly old titled men.

  17. Eleonor says:

Ex mistress meets the homewrecking legend !

  18. Jan says:

I don’t believe that Rose and William had an affair. Her husband spends a lot of time in France with his guy friend.
Rose is not leaving Houghton Hall for a man with a missing wife.

    • BayTampaBay says:

      Leave Houghton Hall for Peggington????????

No one in their right mind would leave Houghton Hall for ANY reason.

      • Harper says:

Rose is a queen living in a big castle already. No need to get embroiled with those grey men and CRex ugh.

    • Tina says:

I can buy that William had something with either rose or David at some point Or it’s possible that he used their enormous house for an affair or hookups like many of Charles’ friends did for him. Something prompted that rural rivals story at the time. But I think this is just the press messing with William now. They know that rose gets clicks because so many people heard the speculation when Kate was missing. Even my mom in her 80s heard the rumors in march and asked me about it! When I filled her in she was like ‘oh yah william is just like his dad’.

    • Proud Mary says:

I do believe they had an affair, but that it was brief and has long since been over. I think the truth of that affair was solidified a long time ago, not only by the rota, but especially after William did that Times (or was it the Sun?) “interview” at the time in which he admitted to dining alone with Rose and saying that Kate was okay with it. Which is the same thing he said after abandoning KittyKat with an infant and flying to the Swiss Alps to hang out with some models. Yep, jealous Kate who to this day maintains a grudge against the York girls for introduce Will to one of their friends after he dumped.

  19. Kim says:

I’m convinced the only reason they haven’t trotted Kate out is because they can’t. It was the only surefire way they could’ve stolen some of Harry & Meghan’s thunder.

    • Serena says:

      Yep, 100% this.

    • BayTampaBay says:

“It was the only surefire way they could’ve stolen some of Harry & Meghan’s thunder.”

So true. I was thinking the exact same thing.

    • K-Peace says:

Exactly. Hopefully people are starting to see that something is very, VERY WRONG regarding Kate. They absolutely would’ve had her make an appearance of some sort, (like you said) to steal Meghan & Harry’s thunder, if they were able to. But they didn’t, and still Kate hasn’t been seen since December! And i don’t want to hear from people “Well, Kate just doesn’t want to be seen while she’s not looking her best.”—That makes no sense, because if the cancer announcement video was real (which it wasn’t—it was A.I.-created), Kate looked absolutely fine in that. I don’t want to hear “Well, maybe her hair’s fallen out due to chemo and she doesn’t want to wear a wig.”—Kate has already worn wigs in public! If things were really as the palace is saying they are, that Kate HAD cancer and has been undergoing preventative chemo and is doing “very well” according to William, then there is NO reason they wouldn’t have brought her out to A) stop the speculation that something nefarious is going on, and B) to steal press headlines away from M & H. That they didn’t, speaks volumes. Kate is either dead or incapacitated.—It’s beyond obvious now.

      • Julianna says:

Exactly @K-Peace. Perfect comment. At this point, if they could have wheeled Kate out in a wheel chair completely bald they would have even done that to try and overshadow this Nigeria tour. Thank you for addressing all the ridiculous excuses though. None of it makes sense and it’s beyond obvious something has happened to her.

    • Proud Mary says:

Yep, that’s why I believe her situation is dire. A whole weekend of Meghan outfits for Kate to copy, and nothing. They needed a huge distraction, considering the success of that tour. That’s why I lean towards this being the reason for Rose being out there.

      • ohwell says:

The palace and media cut a deal to give Kate time to recover from surgery and time out of the spotlight. Since the media can’t photograph Kate they are using Rose. Kate is just sitting out till the deal expires.

  20. Cerys says:

I don’t know anything about the state of Rose’s marriage but if she ever splits from her husband, I’m sure she could do much better than a spoiled manchild with anger issues.

I also think it’s a subtle reminder to Kate she will have to deal with Rose when William becomes king. Rose’s husband David will take his rotation as Lord Chamberlain. Neither Kate or the Middletons can get rid of her.

    • Interested Gawker says:

Yeah, they are baked in to William’s reign. The Middletons were foolish thinking they even had weight to throw around at Rose, let alone try.

  22. Interested Gawker says:

Well, Kate and Carole F’ed around with the Turnip Toffs and found out. I suppose wearing blue is a sweet nod to the last time Kate was seen in a blue coat at Christmas and low key shade over Kate’s copykeening and obsessed need to answer Meghan saying she wore neutrals when she was in the family. Here we have Cam continuing to wrest the colour blue ‘from’ Kate and have no problem being matchy-matchy with Rose. I have a hard time believing this is a coincidence.

Ross showed Kate up at the coronation in pristine, unicorn level vintage and the same shoes Kate trolled Meghan with. Later, Kate was photographed looking worse for wear in drab black clothes on Rose’s property talking to elderly guests at what was said to be a rave/electronic dance event, looking decidedly uncool and now Rose shown being relaxed and chummy with Cam as we enter the fifth month of Kate being entirely vanished from public life. I don’t know what the Rocksavages get from being the shiny object for the Windsors. I don’t know if they are some kind of ‘Camilla 2.0’ for William in truth or strong armed into bearing all this speculation and gossip, to the point people use rose emojis as shorthand, for some sort of loyalty or indebtedness to the Crown but it’s deeply weird.

Kate should have been worrying about the aristos, not Meghan. Rose played above Kate’s league at every turn. I still don’t know what the game actually *is* but 🌹 definitely won it to date.

    • Jais says:

Okay, I’m laughing bc one of the elderly guests Kate was photographed with at the festival was probably Rose’s husband.

      • Interested Gawker says:

One she looked to be speaking with actually might have been! I think he looks good for his age tbh. There seemed to be a much older guy standing behind her too. The story seemed to be trolling Kate on the back of whatever H or M had been reported doing at the time because one expected her to dancing and partying with Rose and glamorous attendees. It was decidedly not that and the picture seemed like an amateur sold a phone pic. A ‘take that Meghan! Kate is hip too!’ framing but firmly at Kate’s expense. When you look back at stories from last August the drum beat for William positioning divorce looked to be in full swing…

      • Jais says:

The vibe of the story really was v “take that Meghan” but at the end of the day, it felt a little more sad. Here’s Kate hanging out with with friends at a rave but actually it was her neighbors that she previously had a feud with feeling sorry for her and including her. David does not look bad at all but it just made me laugh to hear about Kate hanging out with the elderly.

Camilla giving Rose tips on how it’s done

  24. Sara says:

Funny! This is the best I’ve seen Rose look in a long time. The jacket doesn’t fit, but at least it’s not one of her roomy florals. She looks modern here and her skin looks better. Wonder if David’s in France? Camilla’s giving people something to talk about other than Harry and Meghan.

  25. Libra says:

Rose and David obviously have an arrangement that works for them. They have 3 young children. I can’t see changing that arrangement anytime soon. Rose is there at Camilla invitation, nothing else.

    • Interested Gawker says:

I agree that Rose and David are content with their relationship but I can’t help thinking there’s a ‘second wing’ built on in their relationship to the Windsors. What it is and how Cam fits in the Parker Bowles into apparatus (through her niece? Her son? Herself?) I have no idea but being the publicly named face of all these rumours, not lifting a finger to push back at home but sent a legal letter to an American late night programme seems peculiar. And William didn’t get a superinjuction over it all for no reason.

Rose might of been there of her own accord but being photographed and written about like this (as well as dressing harmoniously in blue) is provocative, if not on her or Cam’s part the newspaper’s at least.

      • Jais says:

Rose used to work for Michael Gove and walked into a state dinner with his ex-wife, the vile Sara Vine who wrote that horrible DM headline about having “niggling worries” about Meghan. Rose chooses to surround herself with some pretty racist and shitty people. Camilla included.

      • Interested Gawker says:

No doubt. Rose is firmly apart of that world and it isn’t very progressive.

The ongoing zeal of the BM to link Rose with the Windors, even in that photo of her walking next to Vine, that she “doesn’t complain or explain” about being “used” in this manner, the peek a boo quality of it; that the press hint so aggressively yet give her and her husband hands off treatment at some points and sh*t stirring articles about them at other times is hard to get a good grip on. Clearly something is going between the two families alongside the ancestral role. Clearly the media know more than they (are allowed to) say and the limited hangout of her notoriety seems to be agreed upon to some degree. Why? And now that Kate is missing what configuration does it become now? If she isn’t returning, for what ever reason, how does Cam benefit? Does she have a stake in whatever this alliance is?

      • Jais says:

peek-a-boo quality is a really good way of describing it.

    • Lulu says:

Camilla and Andrew had an arrangement. Until they didn’t, when Charles finally freed his wife. Clearly marriage is not sacred to the folks.

  26. HerrGreter says:

The Badminton Horse Trials are THE fav eventing competition if the RF though. Its pretty normal that they attend and Princess Anne usually hands out the prize. And Zara Tindall did quite well (Badminton was an important event for the british riders to be selected for the olympics) so it kind of makes sense that all the Tindalls were there. Also for The Chomomomlisis to attend, as they host eventing competitions on their property, too.
    Just to give some context…
Still – funny that this year is the year Rose is photographed with the clan.

    • Jais says:

Or this year the press was allowed to photograph them together. For all we know they could talk to each other at events all the time but this time they let the press talk about it.

    • tamsin says:

I think I recall Kate attending this event more than once, and with her children, so I’ll buy that this photo op with Rose may have some significance.

  27. AMB says:

Anymore these days, I feel for Rose the way I feel for RFKjr’s brain worm.

We can’t blame either of them for EVERYTHING.

    • Underhill says:

Lol. Poor Rose, poor brainworm. Both thrust into the spotlight when they’d rather not.

      • tamsin says:

I thought I read Rose wanted to sue Stephen Colbert. Whatever became of that?

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

tamsin, oh, she had her lawyer send a letter. Stephen Colbert DID NOT apologize. He did a piece (he was serious) about the just announced cancer video of Bone Idle. If Rose or the brf think that’s going to slow down late night TV, it won’t. Stephen Colbert has never held his punches when it comes to the brf. The legal letter was all show and no pony.

  28. Dora says:

Camilla is giving Rose pointers on how to survive until she too can take her place as the Queen beside William. Rose is the future Camilla. Only William won’t be so stupid as to be caught moaning about becoming Rose’s tampon while she pegs him.

  29. VilleRose says:

Rose is very pretty, I didn’t get it when I first saw pics of her but after seeing pics of her in her younger days I get it now. So if William did fool around with her, even for a short while, I have to say he at least has better taste than his dad in the looks department mistress wise. Her fashion is also miles better than Kate’s. I don’t like her outfit in these pics though and she does look a bit rougher. I’m guessing all the rumors going around in March were probably pretty stressful to deal with, whether true or not. Her hair also looks really messy (I say this as someone with similar hair to hers, I have very wavy thick hair). It’s not entirely weird for her to be here given her husband’s position as Lord in waiting but Camilla is definitely up to her little trolling schemes.

  30. sparrow says:

Charlotte Tilbury! What a strange photo of three people you wouldn’t put together. I suppose Camilla and Rose as royal bits on the side, but I don’t really think Rose was an affair. ANYWAY it’s my usual Monday ramble. I think Rose looks really good here. She is such a strange looking woman who manages to pull off a sexy, who cares look. I suppose sexy does come from confidence. I’ve never thought Kate has allure.

    • esquire says:

Charlotte Tilbury strikes me as a social climber, she’s often photographed with high society and celebrities. I prefer Lisa Eldridge as a makeup artist and person.

      • sparrow says:

You are SO right, esquire. Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup is overpriced grease, and her actual artistry is limited. You only have to look at her to think, why would I want my makeup to look like the makeup you’ve done to yourself. I prefer anyone over her. Pat McGrath is my all time favourite and, yes, Lisa Eldridge is good. Hats off to Tilbury, though, she has made a fortune. To me, her “in” has been marketing to teenagers and young adults who love the selfie look – lots of heavy contouring and highlighting, glitter and gloss. The full beat face she popularises is horrible in daylight, where it looks too dark, too sculpted, and too clown like. Kate Moss loves her, though. When I first saw her, years ago, it was a photo with no credit, and I thought she was a country and western tribute singer. No offence to country artists, I love that music, but my reaction speaks volumes about her over the top makeup.

      • WithTheAmerican says:

Lisa is the real deal. Her make up tutorials are incredible.

      • Square2 says:

Wait, pardon my ignorance, (I don’t really follow the makeup/beauty world,) I thought Charlotte Tilbury became famous from her skin care products?

P.S. Upkeep messy aristocratic hair & wardrobe is really a non-black person privilege. *sign*

      • esquire says:

@sparrow: agree, Tilbury is clever. I never thought that she was interested in appealing to the masses, but rather, celebrities and top models like Kate Moss. I think Moss advertises for her. Tilbury’s makeup holds no interest for me. It’s sold in stores in Australia now and I’ve not even bothered.

That “magic” cream is not magic at all. Before she commercialised it, she was putting it on the skin of models/celebs. But I would never allow something on my face without knowing the ingredients. That tells you something … can’t imagine LE doing that. Lisa doesn’t need to be ‘exciting’, she’s professional and very soothing to listen to. 🙂

@WithTheAmerican: Lisa E is amazing. She’s so genuinely interested in all women and not just courting the celeb/model crowd. LE is a perfectionist, inclusive of all skin tones and ages, and her hygiene is second to none. I would love to sit in her makeup chair! Kate ought to have got Lisa to do her makeup on wedding day.

Lisa has been releasing makeup for years now. She started with just lipsticks and glosses, I think, but the line has now evolved to foundations etc. She also has a multi-purpose cleanser. The only reason I haven’t purchased is that it’s quite expensive for Australians and returning would be a pain. But, as per expectations re Lisa, everything looks very high quality.

    • sparrow says:

Hi Square2. Her skin care range, such as her “magic cream”, came on the back of her being an MUA who launched into makeup ranges. Over priced tat. I pay a lot for my skin care and make up but buy wisely. I wouldn’t call her products high end; like I said, they appeal more to the full beat crowd. Her skin care is a hit for the one up generation. My friends use it a lot. Anyway, she sold her business for an absolute fortune. Good for her, but it’s overrated imo. I’ve seen her talk through make up application and it’s dreadful. Lisa Eldridge is less exciting but better skilled by far.

  31. Ohwell says:

Rose looks naturally pretty even with her unkept hair.

  32. Julianna says:

This is interesting. I thought maybe their affair had already ended but after the coronation I started to have doubts again. And even more doubts about when she had that letter sent to Stephen Colbert about the affair and it was strangely worded.

Rose literally trolled Kate at the coronation with the same shoes that Kate used to copy and troll Meghan with. Rose knew what she was doing.

And then that picture of Kate popped up in the press of her where she looked a mess. The press had made the story out to be Kate was partying and raving at some glamorous event and then everyone saw that picture. It was definitely a choice to take and post that particular picture. Of course, that was also after Kate was trying to troll and compete with Meghan over the concert stories.

Its obvious that Peg was knee deep in that affair with 🌹 (and that Kate was completely bothered by it) but i did thnk that Rose would not have wanted to continue with it. Rose has Houghton Hall and if you have ever looked at her IG account, it really is pretty cool what she does with it. But maybe Rose is bored? Maybe Rose does aspire to be a side piece turned Queen- I have no idea. Maybe there is something more to these stories. She obviously knew what she was doing being photographed right next to Camilla in the press.

  33. WithTheAmerican says:

I said a while ago when Katie first disappeared that due to her looks going I wouldn’t be surprised if William replaced her with someone more photogenic, who can age well.

I doubt it’s Rose, but they’re using Rose for decoration and gossip, so for the moment she’s replaced Kate and not in a romantic way with William. Just as a pretty object for the front page.

  34. NikkiK says:

I don’t think there’s anything there with William and Rose or William and David. I don’t know much about Rose but from what I do know about her and her husband – I don’t see her being at all interested in William. Not at all.

  35. Scorpio says:

I like Cam’s blue print on her dress. There, I said something nice.

  36. Iolanthe says:

I wouldn’t think Rose would be interested in the least in that offish graceless person who calls himself Prince of Wales . David Rocksavage is older , I grant that , but he is a good looker still and has way more charm ,personality and brains than you know who . Not forgetting that they live in a fairy tale house that is on my bucket list to go and visit . And like the Waleses , they have two sons and a daughter , who are again exquisite. Why would Rose hazard all of that for an uneasy crown. Kate must have cut off from Rose as she has from all women friends who are everything she isn’t.

    • sparrow says:

Yes, exactly. I’ve never bought into the affair thing. She’s way too “more” than he is. I suspect she and William were/are friends, with connections amongst their set from years back. Kate would’ve been rattled by this alone. The only path I’ll start walking along is this: I think it’s possible Rose knew of a historic romance or a current flirtation that William was engaged in, and being keeper of this knowledge was enough for her to be cast out by Kate. But imagine being “cast out” by Kate. She’s a lightweight parvenu. It’d mean nothing to Rose and her friends. It’s almost laughable.
