Jennifer Love Hewitt covers the May/June issue of Women’s Running to promote “The Client List.” I think JLH is a total sweetheart, and she’s eternally cute with a banging bod, but ugh, is Women’s Running really going the celebrity route? I’m used to them featuring either elite athletes or civilian cover girls like last year’s Nov/Dec model, Dorothy Beal, who is a stay-at-home mom of three kids and has run 24 marathons. Beal was last year’s female winner of the B&A trail marathon, for crying out loud. Now the magazine has got JLH vamping it up in the editiorial.

Not that I want to sound like a running snob or anything (as I still haven’t run a full marathon myself) — I just find the above photo to be utterly hilarious and out of place in a training-based magazine. Oh well, let’s do some interview excerpts:

Her exercise routine: “I do yoga, a little bit of Pilates and obviously running on an incline is great. So I try to go back and fourth between all those things.”

Why she runs: “My mom was a runner. I enjoy running, but she was a runner. She loved it and was able to go miles and miles and miles, you know, was crazy about it. The first I did a big run was the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Los Angeles [in 2010]. It was a blast – I absolutely loved it. What you put your body through is incredible, how sore you are the next day is quite crazy. But the benefits of it, cardiovascular-wise, body-wise, toning-wise, all of that, there’s nothing really that gets you in shape like [a race].”

On her curves: “I do find that as a curvy girl, as I guess I’ve sort of been deemed, I don’t think you want to run your curves off, because then you’re just not yourself. But it definitely helps your butt, that’s for sure. It helps with the badonk-a-donk!”

On the pressure of Hollywood: “I’m an actress, I live in L.A., I work in Hollywood. But I’ve learned that if you’re too skinny, they’ll say something about it. If you’re not skinny enough, they’ll say something about it. I just try to feel good in my own skin as much as I can.”

You know, I just wish that JLH would be honest here and admit that she runs (or at least started running) to stave off the weight. Most women runners (myself included) started for that very purpose, and there’s nothing wrong with that! Then you get sucked in by how good the sport makes you feel, and hopefully you won’t get injured along the way.

As for Jennifer Love’s statements on embracing her curves, I don’t know if I believe her. This is a woman who readily believes her own Photoshop. This is a woman who famously played tennis in a bikini so that she could sort of validate all of her size 2 claims. JLH has a fantastic body, but I don’t think that (boobs aside) she really loves her curves at all.

For once Jennifer Love Hewitt is saying something practical about romance and the prospect of “happily ever after.” We’ve heard her publicly pressure her then-boyfriend to propose (which of course didn’t work out for her), we’ve heard her expousing about how women should only take one “role” in their relationship or men will get confused, and she’s also admitted to trying on engagement rings every month since she was twelve years old. Now that Love-Hewitt is 34 and isn’t sure her current relationship is “the one,” she’s supposedly considering freezing her eggs for future use as needed. That’s smart actually. Here’s more:

Jennifer Love Hewitt is planning ahead! Though the actress, 34, has been dating her Client List costar Brian Hallisay, 34, since last spring, “she has been asking a few women she knows about freezing her eggs,” a source revealed in the March 11 issue of Us Weekly.

The unlucky-in-love actress — whose exes include John Mayer, Patrick Wilson, Carson Daly, Jamie Kennedy, Alex Beh, Wilmer Valderrama and ex-fiance Ross McCall — “feels worried that she will end up single, since none of her relationships have been successful,” the source continues.

Hewitt merely wants to have options, the source adds, saying, “If it doesn’t work out with Brian, she can still be a mom one day.”

The actress hasn’t exactly been quiet about her quest to become a parent. “I would love to have babies. I’m obsessed with babies,” Hewitt told Us in 2010. “I would love to have them one day.”

Despite her high-profile heartbreaks, Hewitt said she hasn’t given up on love. “I think you learn a lot from every break up,” the star explained. “It is so much more important that you love yourself rather than someone else. I’ve had breakups and they’ve been public, but I don’t regret any of them. I adore them all. I’ve gotten very lucky.”

Another smart thing about this story? Love-Hewitt gave this news to US Weekly off the record. She’s not admitting in a quote that she’s thinking about this, she did it in a roundabout way. (And you know she told them, this just happens to coincide with the season premiere of her show “The Client List.”) Maybe she’s wising up about her public image. It’s making me like her more. I’ve always kind of chuckled at her but found her sweet and harmless. She lets it all hang out a little too much, and she’s reigning that in. Also, I think she would make a great mom.

USA Today has a new video interview with Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is always good for a wacky interview. This one was particularly fun and I enjoyed her energy. After checking out USA Today’s website, I would just like to complain for a moment about this new trend of sites being very video-heavy, overly simple to the point of hiding features, and not including quotes. It bothers me that sites are doing this, and that they’re modeling their design after mobile devices. How many times have you/your friends/family bought a new phone and had no idea how to use it? It’s one thing when technology is streamlined, it’s another when a flashy design hides features you can’t find.

Ok, thanks for following me on that tangent for a while. Getting back to Love-Hewitt, several outlets are excerpting these quotes and you really have to see them in context to realize that she was asked specifically about insuring her boobs, and that she was being goofy and having fun with it. (So maybe I just countered my own argument.) Love Hewitt is promoting the second season of The Client List, which premiered last night.

On if she would insure her boobs
I need, like, an insurance invitation. If somebody was like, ‘Hey, you know what? We would like to insure your boobs for $2.5 million dollars,’ I’d be like, ‘Do it. Love it! Why not?’ These things right here are worth $5 million!

Her grandmother’s nickname for her
My grandmother loves to call me ‘The TV ‘Ho,’ she thinks it’s hysterical and it’s so disturbing because she’s my 86 year-old grandmother.

Why she loves her job
I get to rub abs for a living. I never thought that that would be my job, so that’s exciting. It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it, and I’m glad it’s me!

On how the men are more self conscious on her show than she is
I’ll be sitting there eating a sandwich and the guys will be doing jumping jacks or push-ups to work out their arms

Her casual style
I’ve cut down on the lingerie in my own life because I wear it all the time. So, it’s like I don’t want to go home and even think about another cute bra and panties set. I’m over it! I’m a soft, cozy T-shirt or tank top and big baggy sweatpants girl.

There’s going to be some consternation over Hewitt saying her boobs are worth millions of dollars but again she was just messing around about insuring body parts, and the interviewer is the one who brought it up. (I think, that was off camera.) She knows her boobs are worth the $5g they probably cost. I’m joking, her boobs are probably natural. She’s always been busty from what I remember, and most older photos of her show that. Say what you will about Love-Hewitt, she’s very natural looking and we haven’t seen her with puffy lips, obvious botox or fillers, or even a nose job. Our standards are really low, right?

Y’all know I like Jennifer Love Hewitt. The girl’s kind of crazy, but she seems harmless and sweet. Since her mom died last year, I think J.Love has been doing some maturing, some growing up and some deep mourning. She hasn’t been getting pap’d every two seconds and she hasn’t been shoving her latest boyfriend(s) down our throats. But does our general warmth for J.Love mean that we have to accept this Shape Magazine cover as real? It’s not her fault that they Photoshopped the crap out of her body… but I still get the feeling that Jennifer would approve. This is the same person who claimed to be a size 2 when there was significant evidence to the contrary. I mean… those aren’t even her real breasts on the cover!!! Still, I’ll give her a pass I guess. Especially since she’s talking about how working out saved her life after her mom died:

Jennifer Love Hewitt looks strong and confident on the cover of the March issue of Shape magazine, donning an electric pink and white bikini and her adorable girl-next-door smile. Some might shy away from baring their bodies in front of millions, but the 34-year-old actress isn’t phased, especially after taking on the racy role as a massage therapist on Lifetime’s The Client List, which requires her to strut her stuff on national TV every week.

While Jennifer looks and feels better than ever, it hasn’t always been an easy road. In 2007 she was blasted by the media after some not-so-flattering photos surfaced of the newly engaged Texas native vacationing in Hawaii. Many women may have wanted to avoid the spotlight after undergoing the widely publicized scrutiny, but Hewitt took the opportunity to speak out and embrace her body in a whole new way. A size 2 at the time, she defended her physique in an interview with PEOPLE magazine. So where does she derive her motivation and confidence? Being a role model inspires her to look her best, she says. She’ll read tweets from fans and finds encouragement knowing that she’s being looked up to.

“I know they’re counting on me to feel powerful,” she says in the March issue.

Taking care of herself is not just about feeling great and looking dynamite in a swimsuit. A healthy life has much more meaning to the actress after her mother, Patricia, passed away last June. Completely devastated, Hewitt wanted to crawl into a hole, but her friends urged her to get active. And she did.

“When life hits you so hard—whether someone you care for dies or your lover leaves you—working out can save your life. It certainly saved mine.”

I understand what she’s saying about working out saving her life, I think. It gives you something to do, it gives you something to work on, and it burns off energy. I would rather be sad and physically exhausted, you know? And that’s just it – working out makes so many people feel better mentally, and even if I’m in a really crappy place, I always feel better after a workout. But what bugs me about Jennifer’s comment is that she seems to be equating one of her asinine breakups (with some dude that she thought she would marry after dating for a few weeks) with her mother’s death. It’s not the same kind of grief!

These are some photos from an event in LA on Friday night. The event was “Variety’s 4th Annual Power of Women presented by Lifetime” in which many actresses and entertainers were honored for their “impact on the philanthropic and charitable causes closest to their hearts.” The event actually scored some A-listers and some interesting fashion moments, so I’ll be splitting up the photos into two posts. First up, Halle Berry and her man Olivier Martinez. It feels like we haven’t seen Olivier in a while, or maybe it just FEELS like that for Olivier, since I tend to think Halle keeps him locked in some kind of dungeon in between happy-family photo ops. Halle’s dress is Roland Mouret – which goes a long way to explaining why I was immediately like, “Damn, is Halle wearing Victoria Beckham?” Because VB looks a lot like Mouret, etc. Anyway, I really like Halle’s dress. Occasion-appropriate, flattering and simply a great LBD.

Poor Jennifer Love Hewitt. Bless her heart. For real. J.Love has a habit of telegraphing to the world whenever she thinks she’s gained weight. Whenever she thinks she looks good, she pours herself into a Herve Leger dress. Whenever she thinks she’s gained weight, she has an endless supply of muumuus. I don’t even think she looks heavy at all, from what I can see of her figure. But this muumuu is not good. It ADDS weight. And the color isn’t great on her either, but you know me – I hate most bright yellows and oranges on most people.

Queen Latifah is a Queen. I think this dress looks great on her. She’s so beautiful. One complaint: the shoes are a little too matchy-matchy.

At first I was going to applaud Katherine Heigl for at least going with an inoffensive outfit and hairstyle, which… that’s about all I can say. The dress isn’t actively bad, and the hair is actually slightly improved (slightly!). But then I saw the mess below the waist. Heigl is wearing shiny white-beige stockings, like, what I nurse would wear. And she’s wearing them with open-toe BROWN shoes. OH HONEY. WTF?!?! Sidenote: She looks hella Botoxy, right?

Update: a lot of you have commented that you’ve seen Brian Hallisay on television and that this is not him. He does look like him to me, and the photo agency identifies him as Hallisay, but they’ve definitely been wrong before. So I’m more likely to buy the “assistant” story, and maybe she has a secret romance with another guy on the side. Here’s hoping.

This story confuses me. Kaiser found it for me and she originally titled this post “Jennifer Love Hewitt shows off her boyfriend of three months, Brian Hallisay.” The photo agency identifies the guy out hiking with J.Love yesterday as Brian Hallisay, he looks just like him, and back in May we ran a story from The National Enquirer that J.Love had taken Hallisay on a week long vacation to Tahiti to test their new relationship. (This was the second Enquirer story claiming that J.Love and Hallisay, her co-star on “The Client List,” were dating.) J.Love tweeted at the time that she was on vacation, but she played this close to her chest and never revealed that she was with a guy. This is a good strategy for her, since she’s typically been way too open about her love life.

This is at least the second time we’ve seen photos of Hewitt with Hallisay. I found these other pictures of them out at lunch on July 11th. (Where she’s in the green sleeveless top.) But in response to these photos, she tweeted that the guy she was walking with is just her “assistant and friend.”

If this is true I’m a little bummed! I was hoping that Hewitt had something going on with this guy and that she was wisely playing it cool. He’s exactly her type – she goes for dark-haired handsome types. Or is she trying to throw the press off by claiming he’s just a “friend” and “assistant”? If she really is with him that’s a little insulting to the guy. He seems to have a semi-decent television career judging by his IMDB. He could be her assistant and/or he might play for the other team, some of these photos give me that vibe. (Here’s a link to a profile of Brian from OK! last year in which he gives the impression that he’s straight.) Either way, I’m happy to see her out and about and looking well. She lost her mom a couple of months ago and it had to be a very hard summer for her.

These are new photos of Jennifer Love Hewitt leaving a gym on Saturday. Curious timing? Curious style? Just wait for it.

Within maybe 30 minutes of hearing that Katie Holmes had cut five and a half feet of unhinged Xenu-lovin’ out of her life, Bedhead and I were already theorizing about Tom Cruise’s next girlfriend/wife/brainwashing victim. I think I have a good enough idea of what Tom likes in a girl – he likes ‘em young, he likes ‘em to have careers (but not careers that could in any way compete with his career), he doesn’t do A-listers, and he tends to avoid the obvious choices, the Hollywood blondes and the girls that top the “Sexiest Blah of Blah” lists. Although… rumor was that Tom “auditioned” the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan to be his Bride of Xenu before he settled on Katie Holmes, so maybe I have Tom’s “type” wrong. Still, I feel like there’s ample evidence to suggest that Tom might go with my suggestion, which came to me almost immediately – who should Tom go for next? JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT!!!!!

Think it through. She’s famous in her own right, but she’s pretty much a solid C-list with B-list name recognition. She’s got a career (that Lifetime show about handies), but it won’t interfere with Tom’s whatsoever. She’s not “obvious” – she’s not, like, Ashley Greene or some Gossip Girl. She’s pretty in the same way Katie Holmes is pretty – accessible, girl-next-door, etc. Plus, let’s face it – J.Love is ALREADY crazy. I’m surprised that she’s not already down with Xenu – imagine what she would do for Xenu if Tom Cruise promised J.Love her Tiffany’s Pre-Selected Engagement Ring Option #1? She would agree to a million audits.

Of course, I theorized J.Love would be down for Tom Cruise before I heard about Tom’s weird “33” thing – all of his marriages have broken apart when the wife is 33. Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and now Katie Holmes – all were 33 when divorce proceedings began. Jennifer Love is 33 years old right now. Maybe Tom should start a new cycle – start dating them when they’re 33. Except that most 33-year-olds probably know better than to get involved with Tom. J. Love doesn’t know any better. Trust me. She would be perfect.

I think that’s why J.Love went to the gym on Saturday. She’s getting in shape so she’ll be ready when Tom calls.

UPDATE: Yes, J.Love’s mom died recently, and I’m sad for her. But… I still think she would be great with Tom.

This news really made me feel for Jennifer Love Hewitt, and to identify with her. Her mother just passed from cancer at the age of 67. My mom is around that age, and I can’t imagine how devastating it would be to lose her. So I’m thinking of J.Love and hoping that she’s ok. Jennifer’s mom moved to L.A. from Texas when Jennifer was just 10 in order to help her daughter pursue an acting career. The two were particularly close, and Jennifer lived with her mom until she was into her 20s. The last photos we have of the two of them together are from this Mother’s Day just a month ago. (They’re the photos with both Jennifer and her Mom in white dresses.) So they probably spent a lot of time together and this has got to hit her hard. Here’s more:

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s biggest supporter has died.

The actress’s mom Patricia, 67, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, Hewitt’s rep announced in a statement.

“Her family mourns her loss,” the rep says. “She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place. They ask for privacy at this difficult time. No further details are being provided.”

Hewitt, 33, who kept her mom’s illness private, appreciated her acceptance of the career decisions she made.

For example, the actress’s mother was able to find her role as a prostitute on The Client List “hilarious,” Hewitt joked two years ago.

“She was like, ‘So let’s review … For 15 years people have been talking about your boobs. Earlier this year, you wrote about your hoo haw in a book. Now you’re playing a crack ho on TV.’ She was like, ‘Do you think maybe you could do an animated movie next?’ “

I checked J.Love’s twitter account, and she normally tweets constantly, but she went quiet a few days ago and her last tweet is on June 11. She said she was headed to Monte Carlo at that time, and OK! reports that she flew back to L.A. after her mother passed. This is sad news, and I hope Jennifer has friends and family around her for support.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has a long history of dating her coworkers. She also has a long history of getting involved fast, falling hard, and the publicly pressuring her boyfriend into giving her a ring. So I’m reading this latest story about how she just spent a week in Tahiti with a co-star with some skepticism. If it really happened, then she just put aside her business commitments, her friends, and her busy life for a whole week in order to foot the bill on a romantic vacation with a guy she’s probably been dating less than a month. (I mean this is the first I’m hearing of him and she usually tells the press almost immediately after she dates someone.) The Enquirer frames this like she was “testing” her new man to see if the romance was there, and they mention that they’ve been dating since April. Pressure!

Jennifer Love Hewitt wanted to give her “Client List” co-star a romantic “test drive,” so she took him on a secret getaway to the South Pacific.

The actress has stepped up her relationship with 33 year-old Brian Hallisay. In mid-May, she treated him to a week-long tropical retreat at the secluded Yasawa Island Resort & Spa in Fiji.

“Jennifer is nuts about Brian, but she wanted to 100 percent sure so she took him on the vacation,” a close source told The Enquirer.

“She said this was going to be the test. If they could get along for a week with no distractions, then she’d be ready to go public with their romance.”

The love match, first disclosed by The Enquirer in April, soared to new heights during the island retreat – and 33 year-old Jennifer is thrilled, say sources.

Hewitt sort-of denied the earlier story that she was dating Hallisay. She tweeted that she was single, which isn’t exactly saying that she’s not dating him. I checked J.Love’s Twitter and she did go silent for a week in the middle of May, tweeting on May 14th: “Need to zen out tweet free for a week… Gonna work on book two! Xo.” Then she tweeted on May 22 “Hello lovelys!! Im back! Needed a week to just be with a group of friends, write, sleep and rest! Missed ya! Xoxo.” At least she’s not tweeting vacation photos and direct messages to her new guy. She’s sort of playing it close to her chest, so that’s something.

On one hand a week long vacation with a new person is romantic. It shows that you’re fun, spontaneous and ready to be there for your new partner. On the other, what does that say to a guy you just started dating when you drop absolutely everything to spend an entire week with him? Does it give the message he’s more important to you than your friends and whatever you have going on back home?

I don’t have a problem with Hewitt footing the bill, considering that she’s a wealthy woman. I hope this works out for her and that she’s happy and found “the one.” It would just be nice to read a story about her acting elusive for once.

Update: as many of you are pointing out, Hewitt was rumored to be dating another co-star, Collin Egglesfield, late last month. That probably fizzled out before she hooked up with this other guy.

Of all the dumb things Jennifer Love Hewitt has said over the years, she really seemed to get the ball rolling by telling outlets that she got over her 2010 split with comic Jamie Kennedy by “vajazzling” her hoo-ha. This involves getting a Brazilian wax and then getting rhinestones glued on your private area, basically making your mons look like a cheap QVC t-shirt that your grandma would wear for a night out out Sizzler. (I learned way more about this process than I ever wanted to know when an editor for the Huffington Post endured vajazzling at a salon and then made a video about it.) Well Hewitt is still vajazzling, just like she’s probably still visiting her three engagement rings at Tiffany’s every month. She told the NY Daily News that she’s currently vajazzled and that it balances her energy or something. Over-share.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT doesn’t just get dressed up for special occasions — she gets vajazzled. At Wednesday’s A&E Networks 2012 Upfront event, “The Client List” star told us that beneath her cleavage-bearing Alexander McQueen dress she was vajazzled because “it’s a special occasion.” Hewitt created a stir several years ago when she told then-TBS talk-show host George Lopez she was a fan of vajazzling. For the uninitiated, that’s when women apply glitter and jewels to their nether regions for esthetic purposes. When we asked the 33-year-old hottie if she was emblazoned with clear crystals — said to balance energy disturbances when placed on the body — she enthusiastically confirmed that “I’m full of good energy.”

I understand that this woman has something to promote, and that claiming she wants to be a Victoria’s Secret angel and telling the world her crotch is bedazzled get her press. Her show “The Client List” glamorizes prostitution, so maybe she’s trying to play up that sexy image with all these ridiculous quotes she’s giving. At some point she’s got to realize that her primary goal, getting and keeping man, is not going to be fulfilled if she keeps looking so desperate. It was one thing to spread the word about vajazzling back when it was a novelty, and to dedicate a chapter of her book on it. It’s another thing to continue to share her personal grooming habits. Men like mystery. They don’t want to know that there are jewels on your crotch prior to earning the right to see said nether region. That should be between Hewitt and whatever dude is going to hit it and quit it, to quote one of our commenters. I don’t know why I bother, since it’s always the same thing from her.

Hewitt’s Client List was of course renewed for a second season by Lifetime. She’s shown here at the A&E upfronts on Saturday. I like her flattering red dress and her style has improved quite a bit lately. She needs to ditch those terrible huge fake eyelashes of course. Hewitt has been looking like she’s got caterpillars on her eyes in most of her recent appearances.
