Kate Hudson in a gold Gucci dress at the LACMA event: gorgeous or meh?

wenn3594627

Even more photos from the LACMA event for Clint Eastwood! I told you there were a lot of Fashion Girls there. Previously, I’ve covered Reese Witherspoon, Kate Bosworth, Evan Rachel Wood and Camilla Belle. Hopefully, this will be my last post regarding this event with really bad lighting. First up: Kate Hudson in this gold-bronze cocktail dress. I really, really like the dress, and I think Kate looks great, honestly. She lost the baby weight very quickly, and her lover was on her arm for the event. My only qualm about the styling is the dress looks a little extra baggy in the bust. In some of the photos from the event, she’s tugging at it so she doesn’t expose a tit. The fit could be better, but other than that, beautiful.

wenn3594641

Next up: Kate Beckinsale in the same white dress you always see her in. She’s always wearing white dresses, and this is a very familiar silhouette for Kate too. Meh. Her hair is horrible – and she has good hair naturally! She just did something funky with it here.

wenn3594624

wenn3594384

Emily Blunt, in what I’m guessing is Gucci. The dress is sexy, and her body is great. I HATE the hair, though. And the makeup. She looks very drag queen-y here.

wenn3594396

And finally, Amy Adams in Gucci. I don’t get why she wears these blush colors, they do nothing for her. She’s a pale redhead – she needs brighter colors.

Matt Bellamy’s bandmates hate Kate Hudson, call her “Yoko”

fp_7923822_big_hudsonbellamy_outabout_12_28

All things considered, I really shouldn’t like Kate Hudson that much. Her Hollywood acting career has consisted of one decent performance that could probably be attributed more to Cameron Crowe’s directing skills than any true talent on her part; and she’s coasted upon the goodwill from Almost Famous to make many millions of dollars from a deluge of insipid romantic comedies. Of course, she probably also got her start in acting thanks to her famous mother and father figure too, so there’s a great deal of nepotism at work. On some level though, I admire that Kate just doesn’t give a crap what people think. She makes the movies that pay her the most, dates a continual stream of eligible bachelors (some grubbier than others), and gives us all the metaphorical finger in the process. I can sort of respect that Kate lives her life the way she wants to even though her alleged potential seems so wasted.

However, Kate has not managed to charm everyone with her ways, and The Enquirer reports that the bandmates of her latest man (and baby dady), Matt Bellamy, absolutely detest Kate’s very existence as a rock groupie of sorts:

Kate Hudson may have won the heart of Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, but she’s not scoring any points with his band mates!

The “Almost Famous” actress has been accused of stifling her fiance’s creativity, getting too involved in band affairs, and being an annoying distraction. In fact, sources say the other Muse members are now calling her “Yoko Ono,” referring to the late John Lennon’s wife, whose meddling was blamed for The Beatles’ breakup.

“Kate was a constant presence at Muse’s songwriting sessions until she recently left to film her new movie. She thinks she’s a musical expert and nitpicks over Matt’s lyrics and pushes her unsolicited opinion on songs,” a source revealed. “Her interference was highly frustrating to the other band members.”

The 32-year-old Oscar-nominated actress began dating Matt in May 2010 and gave birth to their son, Bingham (“Bing”), this past July. Kate also has a 7-year-old son, Ryder, with her ex-husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson.

“Now that Matt and Kate have a baby together, Matt has been more prone to skipping recording sessions or cutting out early because he claims Kate needs him to help out at home or pick up something from the store,” continued the source.

“He’s turned from an edgy rocker into a house husband.”

Matt and the rest of the Muse musicians are currently working on their sixth album, a follow-up to their Grammy-winning release, The Resistance.

Although no one in the band has been willing to tell Kate to back off, they finally pulled Matt aside to talk to him about their concerns.

“They told him Kate is dampening his creativity and draining his energy,” noted the source. “They suggeted it might be better to limit her influence about their music.”

Hopefully, Matt will get the message.

[From Enquirer, print edition, November 7, 2011]

I can sort of buy that Kate would think she’s a “musical expert” after previously being married to a rock musician for several years, but she’s a bloody actress, and not a very good one at that. If she’s truly breathing down the band’s collective neck at rehearsals, maybe she should stay home and let them do their business. Then again, if Bellamy is writing lyrics that are about her that could be interpreted as unflattering, well, maybe she has a right to say something, but that’s the extent of it. And I doubt that Bellamy would say anything bad about his woman because he knows, just as well as everyone else, that he’s dating a serial monogamist. Bellamy is very easily replaceable in Kate’s life, so writing lyrics that compared her hair to freshly harvested corn husks would be a very stupid thing to do.

On the other hand, the “Yoko” comparisons are out of line and are likely spawned from frustration, but that doesn’t make them any better. While I’m sure that the Muse guys would prefer Bellamy to stick around and be funky with them for hours instead of heading home to help with the baby, calling a woman “Yoko” won’t work progress in any shape or form. It will only make Bellamy angry in the long run. I recall Trent Reznor’s fangirls referring to his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, as the Yoko of NIN, which was pretty unjustified as well, since Reznor had announced his intention to shelve NIN long before Mariqueen came into the picture. As for the implication that, somehow, Matt Bellamy is equal to John Lennon — whatever. Muse might be popular with the kiddies, but they’re certainly not the modern-day incarnation of The Beatles.

By the way, this guy isn’t exactly upset at being photographed by the paparazzi, right? He actually seems positively chuffed by the prospect.

Kate Hudson goes brunette for a serious film: budget wiglet or flattering?

68114pcn_hudson11

If this isn’t one of the most awful wigs I’ve ever seen. Surely this isn’t Kate Hudson’s real hair, right? Because this junk is busted. I think Kate has done shades of brunette before, although I honestly can’t recall any big Kate-as-a-brunette style moment. She’s spent almost all of her career as a blonde. And now we see why, and it’s not just the stiff-looking, budget wiglet. Kate looks so much better as a blonde. Maybe it’s just this shade of brown? It’s too dark.

Anyway, these are photos of Kate filming The Reluctant Fundamentalist yesterday in NYC. Kate just gave birth to little Bingham Bellamy in July, and it looks like her figure bounced back pretty quickly too. She had a much easier time with this pregnancy than with her first one. Anyway, this film is directed by Mira Nair and it’s about… a Pakistani man who lives in America and begins to feel hatred and disgust for America. You can read a summary of the book here. Some say Kate is playing the narrator’s girlfriend/fiancée. Serious stuff for Kate… and the busted wig isn’t inspiring confidence that she’s bringing weight to the subject matter.

Bill Hudson calls out Goldie Hawn & daughter Kate as twin slutty maneaters

fp_7884133_big_hudson_bellamy_09_22

I’m rather perplexed about these pictures of Kate Hudson (with boyfriend and baby daddy Matt Bellamy) on 9/15 that feature Kate hiding the lower part of her face from the photographers. It isn’t as if she’s pulling her entire face under a hat, just the lower portion. Not that this necessarily means anything, but it’s slightly odd. What’s she hiding?

Speaking of various shades of privacy, Kate’s father, Bill is still leaking excerpts from his upcoming memoir, Two Versions: The other side of fame and family. Last time, we discussed his claims that Kate has done really “awful” things and that Goldie hasn’t helped matters due to her alleged pattern of parental alienation. Both sides seemed truly pathetic, but many of you agreed that Bill was the douchier party because he’s the one airing the family’s dirty laundry in public for some cash. The whole vibe was geared towards selling a book that no one would otherwise want to read at the expense of dragging out decades-old trash to the pop culture curb; and my assumption was that he was only in it for the money and not that he was pulling a Billy Ray Cyrus by emotionally blackmailing his daughter into rebuilding their lost daddy-daughter relationship. However, the latter notion is exactly what Bill claims to be hoping for after the release of his memoir. Yet the fact that he’s completely calling out Goldie as a cheating wife and slutty bed-hopper and declaring that Kate’s going the same slutty way, well, that doesn’t bode well for Bill’s self-declared good intentions. Unsurprisingly, there’s lots of drug-related stuff in the memoir too:

Kate Hudson may have inherited more than just her megawatt smile from mom Goldie Hawn. In an explosive new tell-all, Kate’s estranged father, Bill Hudson claims that Goldie was a drugged-out absentee mother who passed her bed-hopping ways along to her A-list daughter.

In a Star world exclusive, Bill, 61, is releasing excerpts from Two Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family, due out by Nov. 1. He recalls falling for Goldie by their second date at a Rolling Stones concert in 1975, despite her drug use. “A joint got passed to Goldie, and she took a giant toke. A large plate of cocaine came by, and she took a huge snort. We headed back to her house…had some wine, and both smoked some pot. We spent most of the night getting high.

The pair ultimately wed and had a son, Oliver, in 1976. But Goldie’s focus soon changed. “Her priorities shifted when she filmed Foul Play with Chevy Chose, and our kids were her [second] priority,” Bill writes, revealing that by the time Kate was born in 1979, he felt like a sperm donor. “It was very businesslike,” he writes. “The attitude was to basically have this baby, get it done, and keep moving. It felt like another project.”

But it was Goldie’s insistence on an “open” relationship, not her ambition, that doomed their marriage, he claims. “She was more into show business than I ever was, and I could live with that, but not the infidelity,” Bill says.

Notorious ladies’ man Warren Beatty came between the couple after he costarred with Goldie in Shampoo, but the last straw was her fling with french actor Yves Renier, whom she met while filming Private Benjamin. Bill filed for divorce when Kate was just a year old.

His ability to bond with his daughter was hampered even more by Goldie’s new man, Kurt Russell. “The lack of visitation meant many knock-down, drag-out fights [with] Goldie,” Bill writes. “[The kids] didn’t realize that I was slowly but surely being replaced as their father figure.” As the fighting intensified, so did the distance between Bill and his children. Finally, he simply gave up: “I will honestly regret that decision until the day I die,” he admits.

Bill still harbors some hard feelings against Kate, who he says is doing the same thing as her mother. “Kate was married to Chris Robinson and then divorced him to be with Owen Wilson. It closely mirrored my situation with Goldie.”

Bill hopes that his memoir will serve as an olive branch and lead to a reconciliation with his children. “I realize there’s nothing I can do to fix it, but I hope there is eventually a resolution.”

[From Star, print edition, October 3, 2011]

Part of me wants to feel sorry for Bill if he was truly pushed out of his children’s lives, but I also think that if he really wanted to be involved, he wouldn’t have given up in the face of any amount of pressure. Also, Bill makes quite the assumption that Kate divorced Robinson just to be with Owen Wilson. Exactly how does he know the inner workings of his daughter’s romantic life if he hasn’t spoken to her in decades? Even if Bill is unconsciously projecting Goldie’s alleged ways onto Kate, it’s still out of line for a father to say this in public about his own daughter. I mean, we all know that Kate is a serial monogamist and can’t be without a man for even a moment, but seriously, “Dad,” shut your mouth.

Kate Hudson’s dad: “I love her but she has done stuff that is just awful”

hudsonbook1

This story is kind of pathetic, and I’m not entirely sure that there’s a winning side at all, but there is definitely a douchier side with which to reckon. Kate Hudson’s biological father, Bill Hudson, has “written” his memoirs; and from what Radar has learned, Bill has really dug down deep to drag his daughter and her mother, Goldie Hawn, through the mud. At first glance, one might think that this is some sort of Billy Ray Cyrus-styled emotional blackmail (in the vein of fame destroying a family) at work here, but I think it’s not quite that deep. Instead, I’m thinking that Bill Hudson is a major wanker trying to make a buck off his daughter, who he says has done “horrible things.” Surprisingly, he’s not even talking about all of the crappy romantic comedies that she’s made! Instead, this has to do with Kate being a bad daughter and granddaughter, and he accuses Goldie of creating the perfect storm of “parental alienation” (which is a legal term of art that can be classified as child abuse) against him. If you ask me (and you haven’t), Bill Hudson shouldn’t have waited to bringing this complaint up in a public venue like a published memoir; but rather, he should have done so in a court of law when Kate was much younger. Yeah, this is gonna get messy:

Goldie Hawn and daughter Kate Hudson are about to be exposed by someone who was once very close to them.

Goldie’s ex-husband and father of Kate, Bill Hudson, has written a tell-all that will be released this fall and RadarOnline.com has obtained the cover of the book titled 2 Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family.

Bill, 61, married Goldie in 1976 and the couple had Kate and brother Oliver Hudson together before divorcing in 1980, and the children were ultimately raised by Goldie’s life partner, Kurt Russell, who she met shortly after her relationship with Bill ended.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that Bill was shopping his tell-all book, and RadarOnline.com has learned pre-orders are already being taken online and it will hit stands on November 1, 2011.

“Life in the spotlight is not without its consequences, and the Hudson family was no exception,” the book’s website touts. “While enjoying success as a part of the 1970s musical group The Hudson Brothers, Bill Hudson fell in love and married actress Goldie Hawn.

“After their divorce, Bill found himself in the middle of the controversial issue of parental alienation. His rights as a father to see his children were often played out in the media because Oliver and Kate became actors themselves.”

Devastating secrets and salacious details of both Goldie and Kate’s lives are expected to be revealed.

As RadarOnline.com was first to report, Bill accused Kate of not visiting or calling her dying grandma, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.

“Kate doesn’t have to talk to me and she doesn’t have to give her a dime of her millions. All I want is for her to call and say, ‘Hi grandma’, before it’s too late,” Bill said.

“I love Kate, but… She has done stuff which is just awful. She is a spoiled brat in my eyes and at the end of the day, she should meet her little sister. I should meet my grandchild and she should help her grandmother.”

Along with Goldie, Bill also had a marriage to “Laverne & Shirley” star Cindy Williams, and promises to dish on stories about her as well.

“Now Bill is ready to share his fascinating Hollywood stories of life as a teen idol and husband to two famous women, Goldie Hawn and Cindy Williams,” the book’s site says.

“His book also talks about how parents can often become alienated from their children when they don’t have primary custody. Hopefully, at some point, this family will be able to have a healthy adult relationship before it’s too late.”

[From Radar]

As an aside, according to Amazon, the actual title of the book is So You Are A Star: Coming to Terms with Fame, Infatuation, and Family. This book is also one that no one would probably buy without Bill injecting as much controversy into it as humanly possible because — let’s face it — nobody has really cared about Bill Hudson in a number of decades. While I’m not saying that Kate Hudson isn’t an entitled brat (she probably is), she certainly doesn’t deserve for her bio dad to be using her name to make money. There’s probably a good reason (more like several) that Kate has always considered Kurt Russell to be more of a father than Bill Hudson, and I think the fact that Bill is airing his family’s dirty laundry in public is a good illustration of why.

Matt Bellamy twit-pics first photo of Kate Hudson & baby Bingham Hawn

kate12

Matt Bellamy twit-pic’d the above photo yesterday – it’s the first public photo of baby Bing Bellamy! Huzzah! I really love this photo of Bing and mom Kate Hudson. So pretty, and it doesn’t look posed and everything. Matt tweeted it with the comment “Family life” but then he went off on the paparazzi trying to get photos of the baby, writing, “Wow, these paps are annoying. Thought we’d tweet pic in hope of paps backing off, didn’t work! There should be laws protecting minors… Daily mail – expect to hear from lawyers soon ;) ”. So I guess Matt and Kate decided to release the first photo, Beckham-style, on their Twitter account in the hopes that the paparazzi would just settle down and stop trying to get the first photo of baby Bing.

In case you still have questions about why Kate and Matt named their kid Bing – Matt explained that Bingham is his mother’s maiden name, and Kurt Russell’s father’s name was Bing. The kid’s full name is Bingham Hawn Bellamy, which I still find absolutely adorable.

Kate Hudson on parenting: Kids should “make mistakes without too much judgment”

fp_7702273_hudson_kate_fp7_19_31

Kate Hudson stepped out with son Ryder earlier this week without (gasp!) putting on any makeup, and the paparazzi went wild in response. Seriously and as a rule, I generally don’t like Kate’s movies, but I do love that she occasionally goes outside without bothering to put on makeup. It makes me feel prettier, somehow. Anyway, Kate also recently (while she was still pregnant with Matt Bellamy’s child) took part in a very airbrushed photoshoot and interview with Elle magazine. In the interview, Kate promotes the launch of her new jewelry line, CH+KH, with her good friend Laurie Lynn Stark of Chrome Hearts. The line (which you can see more of here) is very bohemian, 1970s vintage-inspired and quite aquamarine heavy. In the meantime, Hudson also doles out a few tidbits that are of interest for us gossip-leaning types:

On Whether She’ll Marry Matt Bellamy: One thing at a time. We’ll say hello to our new one and enjoy that for a while.

On Maintaining A Long-Distance Relationship: “Most relationships I’ve had in my life have been with people who travel quite a bit for work,” Hudson says. “I don’t know if I’m attracted to that specifically. but it is nice to be with somebody who understands having to be on the move.” Although she’s excited to get back to work (among the upcoming projects she’s involved in is a Linda Lovelace biopic), she concedes that logistics are “definitely getting harder. You have to think about things like, ‘Where is it? How long is it going to keep me away from my family”‘ ” She laughs. “But, you know, life moves on. I would never want to be someone who complains and goes, ‘Oh my God, my life is so crazy,’ ” she says. “If you make the best of it, it can be amazing.”

On Turning To Her Mom For Advice: “We’ve definitely had lots of talks about parenting and being a working mom,” she says. “She never hands out unsolicited preachy words of wisdom, though. My parents allowed my brother and I to have our freedom and be ourselves and feel confident in our choices and to make mistakes without too much judgment. I hope that I can do as good a job.”

[From Elle]

From what little Hudson says about her relationship with Bellamy, I’m inclined to believe that she’s in no huge hurry to marry him, and she may very well never marry again. After all, her first marriage to Chris Robinson didn’t work out, and her mother and Kurt Russell have been going strong for decades without formally tying the knot, so she might decide to just be like mom in that regard.

At any rate, Kate’s words about parenting and kids being allowed to make mistakes seems like a bit of a cop out; but then again, she’s merely working with (or against) the questions posed by the journalist in question. Regardless of whether or not parents allow kids to make mistakes, kids will do just that regardless. After all, I was raised by very strict parents and still found a few moments to sneak cigarettes and vodka here and there. In short, there is no golden ticket to parenthood, and we’re all flying by the seat of our pants. In raising my own daughter, I feel like there are very definable qualities to “bad” parenting but very loose qualities to “good” parenting, and I hope that I’ll get lucky and fall into the latter category, but only time will tell.

Here’s a few Elle photoshoot snaps, which are strategically followed by more photos of a makeup-less Hudson so that we can all feel prettier. Feel free to thank me at your leisure.

Kate Hudson doesn’t care that people are seeing her post-birth

fp_7617996_hudson_kate_fp6_00_63

These are some new photos of Kate Hudson, Matt Bellamy and Kate’s son Ryder in Malibu yesterday. Kate just gave birth to her son Bing Bellamy ten days ago, and we’re not used to seeing new celebrity moms out and about so quickly. Kate’s stomach hasn’t even gone down – but she still looks really great. This pregnancy was so different than Kate’s first. When she was pregnant with Ryder, she put on so much weight, and it went to her face. As you can see here, her face still looks thin, and she carried most of her weight in her mid-section. This is also, like, the fifth photo set of Kate and Matt post-birth. Kate really is a hippie mom, and she’s not vain about people seeing her just after she’s given birth.

What consistently surprises me about Matt Bellamy is how he seems so “into” Kate and her world. Kate goes from casual to super-serious in relationships in the blink of an eye, and most men run away screaming. Not Matt, though. He seems committed to her and committed to being part of her life, and being a great step-dad to Ryder. This Malibu outing was just Kate, Matt and Ryder building sandcastles, and Matt looks really into it. I’ll just say it: Bless skinny, pale British boys. I love them. They’re overwhelmingly sweet, aren’t they?

By the way, I can’t wait to see photos of little Bing Hawn Bellamy! I wonder if Kate is going to sell photos of the kid to one of the magazines? As far as explaining the name “Bing”, Bellamy wrote on Twitter, “For those wondering, Bingham is my mum’s maiden name and Bing Russell was Kurt’s dad. Family connections all round!” I still think it’s a super-cute, old-school name.

Kate Hudson & Matt Bellamy name their son Bingham “Bing” Hawn Bellamy

wenn3191690

I know there is going to be a lot of fighting over this one, but I just want to say at the beginning that I don’t hate it. Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have released the name of their newborn son, who Kate gave birth to on Saturday. The name? Bingham Hawn Bellamy. “Hawn” for Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn, I’m just taking a wild guess. Kate did that with Ryder too – Ryder’s middle name is Russell, after Kurt Russell, Kate’s stepfather and the man who raised her since she was very, very young. Screw you guys, I think “Bingham Hawn” is SO CUTE.

bellamy1

[From Matt’s Twitter]

Matt wrote “Bing” on his Twitter, like it was already the kid’s official nickname, like they’re just going to be calling him Bing Bellamy. See? How does that not make you laugh… in delight? It’s adorable! Bing Bellamy is the sidekick in a hilarious slapstick romantic comedy in 1948. Bing Bellamy is a song and a dance man. Bing Bellamy can do the Jitterbug. Bing Bellamy went to dinner with Sinatra in Palm Springs, and Bing Bellamy played craps with Dean Martin. BING BELLAMY RULES!

PS… Please don’t make a million “Chandler Bing” references. Please DO make a million Bing Crosby references.

Kate Hudson gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Saturday

wenn3324237

Oh noes! Kate Hudson wanted a girl so badly!! Kate’s rep is confirming that Kate Hudson gave birth to a healthy baby boy last night, in LA. Is anyone else surprised that she was due so soon? I thought she had another couple of months left. I’m also surprised that she didn’t gain more weight – when she was pregnant with Ryder, I remember how she got very heavy (and cute, I liked seeing her like that). Anyway, she and Matt Bellamy haven’t released the name yet.

Kate Hudson and fiance Matt Bellamy have a brand-new muse: Their first baby together! The Oscar-nominated actress, 32, gave birth to a “healthy baby boy” in Los Angeles on Saturday night, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

The little guy joins big brother Ryder, Hudson’s 7-year-old son with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. Us Weekly was first to break news of Hudson’s second pregnancy in January 2011. She and the Muse frontman Bellamy, 33, debuted their romance in late spring 2010; they reportedly met years ago in Australia.

“He’s lovely,” Hudson (whose mom is actress Goldie Hawn) told Elle UK back in September. After confirming her pregnancy in late January, she admitted that life was a little more chaotic with another baby on board. “I babble a lot. I forget words. And how to put sentences together,” Hudson laughs. “I just give up.”

“This is a totally different pregnancy, completely,” Hudson said in April. “It couldn’t be more opposite…With Ryder, I didn’t even have a nursery. I didn’t really have a house until I was seven months pregnant.”

Nabbing a Grammy in L.A. in February, British rocker Bellamy couldn’t help but give his love a shout-out, thanking his “beautiful pregnant girlfriend,” who watched proudly in the audience. Hudson initially poo-pood talk of getting married again. “I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she said on British chat show The Graham Norton Show. “I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.”

She clearly changed her mind — debuting a huge engagement ring (worth an estimated $200,000) and announcing her engagement to millions of viewers on The Today Show April 27. “I haven’t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice,” the Something Borrowed actress told Matt Lauer.

Famous pals like Courteney Cox, Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe feted the mom-to-be at a casual, family-friendly baby shower held June 5 at a private home in Malibu.

Time will tell if Hudson and Bellamy will add another to their brood — but Hudson is ready to sign up! “I love being pregnant,” she told Marie Claire last month. “Gosh, I could be pregnant all the time.”

For now, Hudson, Bellamy and the baby are expected to spend time together at Bellamy’s home in London while he records a new album, according to one source. “She’s crazy about him…Kate and Matt are so adorable together.” Adds another insider, “she’s a great mom.”

[From Us Weekly]

Congratulations to Kate and Matt! Do you think they’ll end getting married, or will they just be “engaged” until one day they’re over? It’s hard to tell… Kate doesn’t seem to care either way, but Matt has surprised me with how thrilled he is to be with Kate, so maybe he’ll be the one to force the marriage issue. In any case, I’m happy for them and I’m glad mother and child are healthy and happy.
