Heidi Klum’s tan belted loose jumpsuit: cute or fug?

heidiheader
I love Heidi Klum, and I love seeing her all over the place. Her fashion sense is whack though and she often fails miserably when it comes to dressing for events, especially awards shows. So her latest outfit, a loose tan backless jumpsuit almost cut to her navel, isn’t so much a fashion fail in my opinion as a curious choice. With Heidi, everything is relative. Plus, even considering the weird fringed scarf thing at the back, this is not the worst onesie that Heidi has worn by a longshot. It shows off her hot body without looking try hard. I also love her hair now, which she’s either grown out from that awful mom style or is using tasteful extensions with. She’s a gorgeous woman.

Heidi wore this getup to the 16th annual Los Angeles antiques show and I can image that plenty of people were dropping their bidding cards trying to get a glimpse of her cleavage. A tasteful suit would have been more appropriate, but Heidi usually gets a pass for bringing the sexy in a weird package. Plus, look what Lisa Kudrow and Kathy Hilton wore.

Also in attendance were Billy Corgan in an Elmer Fudd hat with the Veronicas, Grey’s Justin Chambers with his wife (I was thinking there was a scandal with him, but it was only a sleep disorder), and Lionel Richie. That dude is 61 years old! Does he ever age? He probably wears those glasses to hide all the work he’s had done.

Lisa Kudrow says the creators of ‘Friends’ don’t want a reunion

wenn2641026

It seems like people have been talking about a “Friends” reunion since before the show was even off the air. There have been all sorts of rumors about why it hasn’t happened; mostly having to do with which cast members weren’t on board. Supposedly there was always one holdout – Jennifer Aniston, perhaps? None of the other cast members would name names, but Jen has the biggest career of the six of them. Now Lisa Kudrow says the real hold outs are the show’s creators, who just don’t see any good coming from a “Friends” reunion.

Still hoping for a certain sextet to get back together for lattes, love and laughs at Central Perk?

The wait for a Friends reunion, sadly, might be forever.

Castmate Lisa Kudrow — a.k.a. Phoebe — broke the news to Usmagazine.com that “it doesn’t look like” a reunion for the blockbuster NBC sitcom will ever happen.

“Everyone is busy!” Kudrow explained at Sunday’s P.S. Arts Express Yourself event in Santa Monica, Calif.

The biggest objectors, Kudrow suggests, aren’t Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox or any of the actors, but the show’s original writer-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane. ” I guess they don’t think it’s a good idea,” she said.

Not that Kudrow, 46, is completely sold, either: “It would be fun, but I don’t know. How? Why? Really?”

The highly-rated series — its six regulars ended up making $1 million per episode by the finale — ran from 1994 to 2004.

[From Us Weekly]

I really enjoyed the show when it was on and made sure I never had anything planned on Thursday nights as a result (sad, I know). But I agree with Lisa – how and why? They wrapped things up reasonably well, and their last few seasons were really good. There were some seasons in the middle that were absolutely awful, so it’s good that they got to go out on a high note. Why mess with that? People are going to be so critical of it, no matter what. The standards would be impossibly high.

I think the problem is that there are no traditional sitcoms left on the air that are any good. People miss the laugh track. Friends was reliable – even when it sucked, it was still better than most of the other stuff on television. It’s comforting and familiar, like that ex-boyfriend you migrate back to in between better guys. There’s nothing novel or interesting about it, but it can make a reappearance in your life every so often to fill in the gaps. That’s what reruns are for.

Lisa Kudrow to appear on Courtney Cox’s ‘Cougar Town’

wenn2593453
Courtney Cox’s old “Friends” castmate, Lisa Kudrow, will make a cameo on Cox’s new ABC sitcom, “Cougar Town”, which airs Wednesdays at 9:30. The show is performing well in the ratings and has been picked up by ABC for a new season, so it doesn’t particularly need a boost. Kudrow could benefit from the appearance as much as the show – she hasn’t been seen much since her HBO faux reality series “The Comeback” was canceled after one season in 2005. She now stars on an improvised Internet-based show called Web Therapy that’s earning praise from fans.

This excerpt has spoilers for Cougar Town beyond the news that Kudrow will appear:

We know this much to be true: Any Friends rerun playing at 11:30 p.m. on channel 5 is still as good or better than most of the original episodes of TV airing on any given day.

Friends still rules, after all this time, which is why we’re delighted that five years after the series went off the air, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow are reuniting onscreen!

ABC sources confirm that Kudrow is set to film an episode of Cox’s hit freshman series, Cougar Town, later this month.

But who will Lisa play, and when will we see the episode onscreen? Here’s what we can tell you…

According to Ms. Cox herself in TV Guide magazine, “If it all works out, she’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though the doctor is mean to me…whatever it is [she does], she’s the best in town at what she does and I become addicted.”

Words that could apply equally well to Cox, Kudrow and their fellow Friendly brethren: Best in town and addictive. (Yay for this reunion!)

The Kudrow-Cox joint is expected to premiere in early 2010 on ABC.

Do you already love Cougar Town, or can you live without it until Kudrow comes by?

[From E! Online]

I really loved Friends, but Cougar Town is no Friends with benefits. I’ve tried to watch the show and sat through the whole first episode. Some of the jokes made me cringe and the dialogue is over the top and unrealistic. The characters get in ridiculous situations that could never happen in real life. I watched about ten minutes of the second episode before I switched it off. A lot of people enjoy Cougar Town, and I’ve seen people raving about it online, but it’s just not for me. It seems like it appeals to the same fans of Scrubs, which I also couldn’t get into. For that type of genre it’s probably a great show that I’m just not able to appreciate.

I enjoy more subtle kind of humor – like Friends, that was a great show. Eastwick on ABC is a supernatural dramedy that I really enjoy this season, too, and the rest of my favorites are dramas. I’d love to see more of the former Freinds castmembers and this is good news that Kudrow will be popping up in Cougar Town.

Lisa Kudrow plays “Smelly Cat” at charity event

Lisa Kudrow proved herself to be quite the good sport last night at Feeding America’s Rock a Little, Feed a Lot charity concert. Kudrow wasn’t there to sing – she was just supposed to introduce Sheryl Crow with Courteney Cox. As the two came out on the stage, someone from the audience called out for her to sing “Smelly Cat,” the infamously terrible song her character on “Friends” sang. Courteney got someone to give Lisa a guitar, and she was accommodating enough to sing a few bars – and even remembered to include the awkward warbles.

With Friends like these, who needs reruns?

Phoebe Buffay Lisa Kudrow, with forever-linked-pal Courteney Cox by her side, last night broke out the guitar and delighted the crowd with a few bars of “Smelly Cat” at Feeding America’s Rock a Little, Feed a Lot charity concert.

OK, not so much broke out the guitar as had the guitar unsuspectingly foisted upon her by a goading crowd, but still.

Kudrow and Cox had made their way onstage with the express purpose of introducing Sheryl Crow, when an overeager (and possibly stuck in the ’90s) audience member called out for the tune.

And while Kudrow hesitated at first, well, it’s nice to surround yourself with people you know you can count on. Of which her former costar is apparently not one.

“Get her a guitar, people!” Cox yelled out.

“Is this a setup?” Kudrow asked, before giving in and entertaining the crowd.

[From E! News]

My favorite “Smelly Cat” episode from “Friends” was when Phoebe made the music video for the song and didn’t realize they’d dubbed her voice. Ahhh, those were the days, the mid-90s when everything was peaceful and we still thought “Friends” was funny. Now when I watch the reruns I find myself wincing a lot.

You don’t see Lisa out with Courteney and Jennifer Aniston much. From their easy and natural interaction on stage it’s clear she and Cox are still friends, but Kudrow has definitely lived a much more quiet and private life since the end of the show. I still think she has the most talent of any of the three ladies, but she probably just doesn’t have the desire to do a bunch of romantic comedies. She does smaller independent films here and there, and isn’t flashy about it. But man, she still can sing.

Is a ‘Friends’ movie coming?

friends1
Rumors have resurfaced that a “Friends” movie, based on the hit NBC sitcom that ran for ten years, is in the works. “Friends” has been off the air for five years and it seems like we’ve been hearing stories of a big screen version ever since. Last year, The Daily Mail claimed that a Friends movie was forthcoming, and that it would be produced by Warner Brothers, a claim that Warner Brothers promptly denied. Now News of The World has a new interview with James Michael Tyler, who played cute bald barista Gunther at the show’s coffee house, Central Perk. Tyler allegedly confirms that a film is underway, and that everyone has signed on, including presumed holdout Jennifer Aniston:

Hugs all round – because we can reveal that Friends is back for a big-screen version of the hit sitcom.

Studio bosses have got together for an oversized mug of coffee to prepare a script for a film version of the series.

And they are ready to break the bank with a multi-million package to get the main cast on board.

In an exclusive interview with the News of the World, James Michael Tyler – who played Central Perk oddball Gunther – confirmed: “Friends: The Movie is definitely on. I still keep in touch with a lot of the cast and they say that they are really keen.”

The film comes in the wake of the big screen version of Sex And The City which took an astonishing $408,921,925 at the box office.

The cast have always made no secret about a desire to do a film and Lisa Kudrow said: “It would be so fun to be with all those people again.

“But our show was not like Sex and the City – ours was multi-camera, in front of a live audience.

“It’s a completely different feel. You’d have to bring the tone down, and I don’t know how it would be. I’ll just stay open.”

Meanwhile actor James, 47, who is in London for the launch of a Central Perk themed coffee shop in Soho, is keen to reprise his role as Gunther on the big screen.

He said: “The one thing I can tell you is that I am definitely on board to do the film.

“I really loved my time on the show and I am looking forward to meeting up with the old gang again.

“I just hope we can do justice to the show in a film.”

[From News of The World]

Jennifer Aniston is just about the only castmember who seems busy and successful enough to want to avoid a film version of “Friends.” She’s been gracious to the show that helped launch her career but has said several times that she’s moved on and doesn’t want to do a movie. Aniston has her own production company and according to IMDB she has three films in post production and a whopping seven films in development. I doubt she has the time or inclination to remind us yet again how well she plays Rachel Green. Courtney Cox has a new sitcom, “Cougar Town,” that premiered last week and is doing well in the ratings. (I saw it and thought it was goofy and trying too hard, but people seem to like it.) She isn’t that booked and would probably gladly do a “Friends” movie. The other cast members, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, have all kind of floundered in their careers post-”Friends” and would probably love to a do a film.

That said, it’s possible that News of the World is either making this up (they’ve been known to fabricate entire interviews) or that they’re twisting Tyler’s words to make it sound like a movie is in the works when all he said was that he’d be open to it. It seems like all the latest films are based on old ideas and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was in the works, but I won’t believe it until I hear confirmation from a reliable source. “Friends” was a great show, though, and I would definitely go see the movie if this is true.

Is “Friends” finally coming to the big screen? (update: probably not)

Rumors have abounded since Friends ended its successful ten year run in 2004 that the cast would make a movie. Every so often one of the cast members would admit they’ve been talking about it, but there was always one holdout, who no one would ever name. Sometimes they’d claim it was one of the guys, though it was often rumored to be Jennifer Aniston.

Supposedly they’re really going to make the film now, inspired by the success (and I’m guessing the money) of the recent Sex & the City film.

The highly anticipated film production of TV series Friends has finally been given the go-ahead, MailOnline has learned. The actors have been inspired by the recent success of Sex And The City, which recently hit cinemas worldwide. A source said: ‘Jennifer, Courteney and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances.

‘The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right. Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions.’

While Cox, 44, LeBlanc, 40, Perry, 39, Kudrow, 45 and Schwimmer, 41, were believed to be keen on the reunion, Aniston, 39, is believed to have dragged her heels. Now, however, she is keen to move ahead with the project, which will be produced by Warner Bros. ‘She says she and Courteney have already talked this summer about what they want out of a Friends movie, and if deals can be made with them, everything else can fall into place rather quickly.

[From the Daily Mail]

It sounds like things are as close to happening as they’ve ever been. But when the same rumor has been floating around for four years, it’s hard to tell when/if it’s actually become legitimate. Even though Jennifer Aniston is probably the biggest star from the show, I think all of them could benefit from a successful film. The Daily Mail pointed out that Aniston has had a few okay movies, but she’s still much better known for her personal life than her great movie career. And I’m pretty sure that at this point, Matt LeBlanc should take whatever he can get.

It seemed like there was a bit of a Friends backlash right after the series finale. Suddenly everyone was claiming they never found it funny. Television comedies have really moved in a different direction since then. There are very few traditional sitcoms left on the air – and almost none of them are filmed in front of a live audience anymore. It’ll be interesting to see if people still find the show’s brand of humor funny. Something tells me that no matter what, it won’t compare to the financial success of the Sex & the City film.

Update by Celebitchy: A representative for Warner Brothers has denied that there’s a Friends movie in the works, saying “(There’s) no truth in the story.” Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry’s spokespeople have also denied that there’s a Friends movie being planned. [Details From SFGate]

“Friends” reunion is coming – really!

The NY Post’s Cindy Adams reports that a long-rumored “Friends” reunion is now in the works, and that holdout Jennifer Aniston finally agreed to it:

JENNIFER Aniston, and whatever reason changed her mind, who knows, finally OK’d a “Friends” reunion. The primary holdout, she, now, for whatever reason, who knows, has agreed to it. Everyone’s thrilled. It’s big bucks for the whole bunch. Jennifer always loved the show’s Thanksgiving episodes – for whatever reason, who knows – so she’s encouraging the script to be something Thanksgiving-y, or at least to center around that holiday. Please, no remarks about a turkey.

A while ago it was rumored that Lisa Kudrow said that “one of the guys” was holding up the reunion after Kathleen Turner let it slip that she was approached to reprise her role as Chandler’s mom, but then Kudrow denied that a reunion was in the works.

Now that Cindy Adams has reported it, it’s probably true, and I can’t wait! I love that show, although it’s hard to watch now that I have such a poor opinion of Aniston. She must have realized how much she owes to “Friends” and maybe she’ll be grateful to the show for making her famous.

Lisa Kudrow says the Friends reunion was just a rumor

First aging alcoholic Kathleen Turner had everyone buzzing that a Friends reunion was in the works by saying that she was approached to reprise her role as Chandler’s mom. Then Lisa Kudrow supposedly said that one of the guys was holding up a reunion. Now Kudrow is saying that’s just a rumor and there was never a Friends reunion planned:

Lisa Kudrow has ruled out the possibility of the Friends cast reuniting any time in the near future.

The news puts paid to recent speculation that NBC was hoping to persuade the stars to return for a limited number of episodes later this year.

“It’s not even a little bit true,” Kudrow insisted in an interview for the Paul O’Grady Show. “Not even any part of it is true. It’s just not possible.”

A Friends reunion seems to be wishful thinking by fans, and it’s too bad it’s not happening. It seemed like it was being planned, but with all this conflicting information it may have been canned in the early stages.

Here is Kudrow last night in London to launch the 20th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. She was promoting her film “Happy Endings.”

The film features Kudrow as a neurotic counsellor at an abortion clinic, who is blackmailed over an affair with her now-gay step-brother.
