Naomi Campbell blames 9/11 attacks for her plane arrest

Naomi Campbell must be running out of excuses for her violent behaviour. ‘Having a bad day’ or ‘under the influence of prescription medication’ must have been taken, because she’s blaming terrorist attacks for her attack on a flight attendant. Naomi verbally abused crew on the flight, before being removed from the plane by police. Naomi spat at the police, but says the attack was provoked by a racial slur.

And now Campbell, who had been a loyal BA customer until the fracas, insists she will never step on board another BA plane, claiming the 2001 terrorist attacks in America have changed air travel forever.

She tells the Evening Standard, “I think after 9/11 you can’t say anything anymore on a plane. I’ve flown British Airways for years, since I was a child. The stewardesses will tell you that I would get on a plane, put on the blanket and go to sleep.

“I’ll never fly that airline again, but nothing’s really lost. I did get my luggage. I was reunited with my (Yves Saint Laurent), and everything was cool.”

San Francisco Chronicle

I’d love to think Naomi was joking about everything being okay because she has her clothes, but I suspect she’s deadly serious.

British Airways is probably breathing a sigh a relief at the fact that Naomi Campbell won’t be flying with them again, while other airlines wait nervously for her next trip.

Naomi is currently serving 200 hours of community service at a homeless shelter in London. For her previous attack on a maid she served a week with a sanitation crew in New York, where she paraded the streets in couture and featured her community service diary in a W magazine cover story.

Naomi Campbell starts second round of community service

Photobucket Image Hosting
Naomi Campbell is now serving her second stint at community service after a rageaholic abusive incident. In March, 2007 she served a week on a sanitation crew in New York city for an incident in which she battered a maid’s face with a blackberry after claiming the woman stole a pair of jeans that was misplaced. Now she’s been sentenced to 200 hours community service at a London charity after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers at Heathrow airport in April.

This is London reports that her service will be difficult and that she won’t be given special consideration or an easier time because of her celebrity status:

Naomi Campbell is finding out that her community service order for assaulting two police officers will be far tougher than she ever expected.

The 38-year-old model started 200 hours of work at London’s Whitechapel Mission today.

And the Mission has been quick to scotch early reports she has received preferential treatment and a cosy job filing paperwork at the drop-in centre.

‘The Whitechapel Mission has been dealing with probationers for 130 years and throughout that time every single one of them has been treated exactly the same,’ said an employee who did not wish to be named.

‘She will be working with some of the most needy people in the capital. So she is not going to be given an easy ride or treated as a special case.

‘She will not be allowed to parade the streets in an orange vest to please photographers like she did in America.

‘The centre deals with around 30 probationers a month and is regularly checked on by the probation service, magistrates and even judges. She will not be given an easy time.’

Known on the street as the Cavell Street Mission, the Whitechapel centre stands opposite the Blind Beggar public house, notorious for its connection to 60’s gangsters the Kray twins.

On an average day it deals with more than 150 homeless people who come in search of a cooked breakfast, a shower and some medical facilities after a night sleeping rough.

[From This is London]

I’m glad that they’re saying Campbell won’t be allowed to parade around in couture clothing for photographers like on her last community service stint. Her high-fashion entry into street sweeping last year was chronicled in W Magazine, which featured her sanitation diaries in a cover story.

How Paris Hilton ended up in jail for over a month on charges of driving with a suspended license but Campbell, with several high-profile abuse incidents, has only received two community service sentences is beyond me. Sure it’s “hard” to work at a charity mission, but it’s a lot easier than doing jail time, and many people have 40 hour a week jobs doing much more demanding work. The woman needs more punishment for her behavior. It’s not likely to change her sense of entitlement, but at least she won’t be able to any more damage if she’s behind bars. We’ll have to wait until she blows up again before more justice is meted out.

Classic 90s supermodels are back: Linda, Claudia, Christy and Naomi

Some of them never really went away, even when we wished they would (yes, Naomi, that means you), but others have been out of the limelight for years. Now, the supermodels who graced every magazine cover and ad campaign in the early 90s are making their triumphant return. Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and my favorite, Linda Evangelista, are all featured in fall fashion campaigns.

The veteran supermodels are back: two decades older but mysteriously unwrinkled, they are eclipsing rivals half their age this autumn.

An audit of the adverts in September’s Vogue shows that almost all of the best fashion houses are choosing the legendary models of the Eighties and Nineties to front their autumn/ winter campaigns.

Appearing in the magazine are Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista: the same faces who put modelling on the map more than 20 years ago.

Today, 43-year-old Evangelista fronts the campaign for Italian label Prada. Her predecessor, Russian Sasha Pivovarova, 23, had appeared in six consecutive campaigns.

Chanel has also left young models by the wayside, enlisting Turlington - who also models in fashion house Escada’s autumn/winter campaign - to appear in an eyewear commercial.

Schiffer, 38 - barely recognisable in a dark brown wig - is the face of the mainline Chanel collection. Now a mother of two, she also appears in an advert for Italian shoe label Salvatore Ferragamo…

Recalling the heyday of the supermodel, Mr Pilati said: “They were 12 of the most amazing girls. Today there are beautiful girls more or less but they don’t have that attitude.”

The resurgence of the supermodel shows a change in direction for a fashion industry accustomed to using very thin and young girls to head big campaigns.

“It’s not surprising when you consider where the spending power lies,” says Simon Chambers, managing director of Storm Model Management, which represents Kate Moss.

“When it comes to fashion photography, these girls are the best there are. It’s not surprising clients come back to them.”

[From The Daily Mail]

I remember being obsessed with the George Michael music video, “Freedom,” which featured all of those supermodels- Cindy Crawford, Naomi, Christy, Linda and Tatjana Patitz, who had that Greta Garbo look going on. My friends and I used to strut around and pretend to be each of them. I even had the short blond Linda Evangelista haircut. Sigh. Good times. I’m glad to see these ladies return to Vogue. Most of today’s models are little more than glorified clothes hangers. These ladies had style, attitude, and each one had a unique look.

Nelson Mandela bans Naomi Campbell from 90th birthday concert

Boy you really do learn something new every day. So far my most surprising revelation is that Nelson Mandela and Naomi Campbell have been longtime friends. I just cannot imagine two such polar opposites. But apparently their history goes way back, with Campbell hosting several events for 46664 – Mandela’s prison number while he was jailed for 27 years, and now the name of his AIDS awareness campaign.

Mandela was so upset, disappointed, and embarrassed by Campbell’s recent arrest for assaulting two police officers during a scuffle on a British Airways plane that he has personally banned her from his upcoming 90th birthday celebration concert in London.

Nelson Mandela intervened personally to ensure Naomi Campbell does not appear on stage at his 90th birthday concert. He told organisers to take her off the line-up for Friday’s Hyde Park charity event. The former South African leader, who met the Queen at Buckingham Palace today, made his decision after Campbell, 38, was fined and sentenced to 200 hours’ community service last week for assaulting two police officers on a BA flight at Heathrow in April.

A source close to the event said: ‘The man himself intervened and she was pulled off the list. He was disappointed with her recent arrest - particularly as she was wearing a 46664 baseball cap at the time.’ The model, who calls Mr Mandela her ‘honorary grandfather’, has been deeply involved with his charity.

‘Naomi was on the list to play quite an integral role, such as introducing acts on stage. ‘But all plans were scrapped when pictures emerged of her being arrested wearing the baseball cap with the Mandela number on it. She will be allowed to sit in the grandstand and watch the performances, but that is as far as it goes.’

‘Everyone hopes this may teach her a lesson as the concert means so much to her.’

[From the Daily Mail]

Naomi’s rep of course denies the whole thing. Her response was that Naomi never planned on going to the concert in the first place. Which seems to be utter hogwash, considering she’s been at all the important 46664 events of the last ten years. We’re supposed to believe she was never going to attend the biggest one yet? Right. Way to save face.

I doubt anything will ever teach Naomi Campbell a lesson. But if anything could, it’d be this.

Here’s Nelson Mandela leaving the Dorchester hotel in London today in preparation for some of his birthday festivities this weekend. Naomi Campbell Pleads Guilty to Air Rage Assault

Rageaholic Naomi Campbell got off with a pretty lenient sentence for her latest criminal-level temper tantrum. The Daily Mail has a super detailed rundown of exactly what happened when she freaked out on a flight and attacked the crew and police officers in April. She really sounds more like a rabid animal than a person. I cannot even begin to imagine what is wrong with her – but it sounds like more than just a crazy entitlement complex. She’s definitely certifiably batshit insane.

Naomi Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours community service and fined $4,500 on Friday after her guilty plea in court, where she admitted to assaulting two police officers in London’s Heathrow airport this April, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The supermodel, 38, admitted guilt to four of the six charges she was facing – two counts of assaulting a police officer; one of using threatening, abusive words or behavior to cabin crew; and one of using insulting, abusive, threatening behavior or disorderly conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to pursue the other two charges.

“Ms. Campbell was aggressive, hostile and violent to people who were simply trying to do their jobs,” C.P.S. director Nazir Afzal said in a statement. “Her behavior fell far short of what is acceptable.”

The magistrate told Campbell that her behavior aboard the British Airways plane was “reckless.”

[From People]

Several police reps criticized Campbell’s lenient sentence and said she should at least serve some jail time for assaulting two police officers. It seems to me that the court should also have considered her long history of assaulting innocent people during her fits of rage. What’s most odd to me is that these things always seem to happen over relatively minor problems: accusing her assistant of stealing a pair of jeans, a lost bag, etc. Clearly something is seriously, seriously wrong with the woman – and she’s a danger to others. At the very least, she should be ordered to undergo psychological counseling.

Naomi Campbell wasn’t drunk, she was playing a game

I can easily accept Naomi Campbell’s most recent bizarre behavior because it’s not verbally or physically abusive for once, but what I can’t understand is her publicist’s explanation. Naomi was pictured stumbling around allegedly drunk, which given that she’s a supermodel and probably only ate one lettuce leaf all day, then had half a glass of champagne on an empty stomach, probably isn’t an indication of binge drinking. According to her publicist, Naomi has something in common with teenage girls besides her weight - she also likes to play the ‘trust game’.

However, the star’s representative states the 38-year-old was not suffering the effects of a heavy night of drinking, but, in fact, was playing a “trust” game with friends.

The representative tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “It was just a bit of fun and not down to drink. Naomi was playing this trust game, where you fall into a friend’s arms.”

And in a bizarre twist, the representative also blames Italy’s scorching temperatures on the stumble: “It’s very hot there, so that could also have had something to do with it.”

San Francisco Chronicle

So, which one is it? Does Naomi like to play the game, or was she overcome by the heat? Did she decide to play the game because it was hot? Isn’t more embarrassing for a 38-year-old woman to admit to playing the trust game than admit she was drunk? Looking at the pictures, Naomi stumbled on something, possibly her gladiator sandal style high heel. She was definitely not playing the trust game, as you usually stand in front of the person who is meant to catch you, not stumble face first into them while they and someone else help hoist you off the floor.

Like Tatum O’Neal, Naomi needs to learn that when you want an explanation to be convincing, you need to choose one story and stick to it.

Naomi Campbell gets mysterious surgery so that she can get pregnant

Great gobs of Gucci. Naomi Campbell wants offspring. That is a scary thought. The glamazon is ready to reproduce and has undergone a procedure to enable her to become a mother.

She says, “Now I can have a child I would like one. I’m even willing to have one without a father. I know that I am ready. I know that with a baby I would change, I’d calm down. With a child you cannot accept compromises. You have to give your full self.”

[Starpulse]

Exactly what type of surgery she had done to give her the opportunity to have children is a secret. All that is known is that she had a “condition” which prevented her from being able to have a baby. She is also considering artificial insemination. A friend of Campbell states that she is ready to take on the impregnation process and child rearing alone if she cannot find a suitable mate.

“She sees one solution is to have artificial insemination. Naomi is a strong woman and thinks she can give the child everything he or she needs without a man. She has lots of close friends who she could rely on for help and she is financially secure. Naomi is aware that her biological clock is ticking.”

[Fametastic UK]

I pity the male she chooses to impregnate her. Should she go that route. I am not sure how it will work out, but I am guessing it is going to end with the eating of her mate circa “Species.” Let us pray she has a turkey baster baby.

Naomi Campbell charged with assaulting a police officer

Naomi Campbell should be locked up in a rubber room until further notice- either that, or sent into the mountains of Afghanistan to scare terrorists. The irrelevant British model was arrested in April at Heathrow airport after she threw a fit when her bags wound up lost. She got physical with a security officer and was taken into custody. No word on whether her cell phone was confiscated as a weapon of mass destruction. She was officially charged this morning with assaulting two police officers for that incident and must report to court on June 20 to face charges.

Naomi Campbell has been charged with assaulting a police officer at London’s Heathrow Airport, her lawyer told BBC News Thursday.

She has also been charged with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of using threatening, abusive words or behavior towards cabin crew.

The model, 38, was arrested in April aboard a British Airways flight when she threw a fit after her carry-on bags came up missing.

“Miss Campbell is bitterly disappointed that the prosecutors have advised her she is to be prosecuted for various offences,” her lawyer said in a statement after she answered bail at a London police station Thursday.

“She respects that decision and she hopes this matter is dealt with expeditiously,” he said.

She is due in court June 20.

Last year, Campbell was ordered to spend a week mopping floors at a NYC warehouse for assaulting her maid with a cell phone.

[From Us Weekly]

What is this bitch’s problem? Look, we all know how much flying sucks. There’s the nightmare that is airport security, the endless flight delays, and the knowledge that your luggage is probably headed to Fiji while you are in Cleveland. But that doesn’t justify acting like a stark-raving lunatic and putting your hands on a cop! What’s so special about her that she gets to act like this? I’m glad she got charged - but I’d like to see her get in a lot more trouble this time. Someone needs to commit this hag before she really hurts someone. Just tell her that the padded room is a trendy new nightclub and the straightjacket is from the new Calvin Klein summer collection. Then throw away the key.

Note by Celebitchy: Naomi’s assault charges carries “a maximum sentence of six months in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000,” according to the Associated Press. Hopefully the judge will take her prior record into consideration and throw the book at her - hard.

Diddy makes Naomi Campbell cry on her birthday

Rageaholic model Naomi Campbell got some major drama dished her way on her 38th birthday on Wednesday. The former “it” girl spent the day with friends in Cannes. Sounds like a nice birthday, no? Well late that night – sometime around three in the morning – Campbell and company joined a party on P Diddy’s yacht. And that’s where are the trouble started.

Turns out Diddy and Naomi have a long history of drama. In fact it seems that it’s more him than her, surprising as it may be. So chilling with a guy that doesn’t like you probably wasn’t the best way to end an evening for Naomi.

Naomi Campbell was reduced to tears on her birthday last night - recalling quite vividly the Lesley Gore hit song It’s My Party And I’ll Cry If I Want To. Naomi celebrated her 38th birthday with friends in Cannes, and then moved on to a VIP party aboard music mogul P Diddy’s yacht.

She was all smiles as she arrived in a glamorous lace frock but, around 3am this morning, she was spotted looking clearly upset.

The reason for her meltdown remains unclear, but Naomi and Diddy do have a history of confrontation.

According to reports last year — at Jermaine Dupri’s Grammy afterparty in LA — Diddy shouted at Naomi in the middle of the party, leaving her shocked and upset.

[From the Daily Mail]

TMZ says that Naomi didn’t just leave Diddy’s boat – he threw her off. Which, when you’re talking about a boat, sounds much more dramatic than getting thrown out of a club. Unfortunately he didn’t make her walk the blank or actually dump her ass of the side of the boat. Bummer.

Naomi garnered a lot of negative press for bringing convicted con man Christophe Rocancourt as her date to the Cannes premiere of Che. He conned several A and B-list Hollywood celebs, so perhaps that had something to do with the Diddy/Campbell blowup.

Here’s Naomi with Christophe Rocancourt on May 21st in Cannes. Diddy is shown at amfAR’s annual Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes on May 22nd. Images thanks to WENN.

Naomi Campbell hurled racial slurs at British cops

Last week, Naomi Campbell was hauled of a British Airlines flight after throwing a shit fit when they lost one of her bags. It was first reported that Naomi was then arrested in the first class lounge, but it appears that she was actually dragged off the airplane by police. Which makes me really happy, because I have this image of four cops against one Naomi Campbell, and it’s still barely a fair fight. Since then, it’s emerged that Naomi threw out some racial slurs at the cops as well. Because she can never just go out graceful.

Bucking clothes horse Naomi Campbell has been accused of hurling a torrent of racial abuse at a woman cop during her arrest at Heathrow last week. The supermodel later claimed police only nicked her because she was black. Now cops claim she called a WPC a “white ****” and a “white s**g” as she was dragged off the LA-bound jet in handcuffs.

The police source said Naomi continued, screaming: “f***ing white honkeys” at the officer and her colleagues. Those anger management classes have clearly been a great success, then. Campbell went berserk when she discovered one of her bags was missing at Terminal 5 last Thursday, allegedly spitting at officers who approached. Senior Scotland Yard staff were furious when Naomi later claimed police only arrested her because of her colour.

[From the Sun via the Huffington Post]

I took a criminology course in London four years ago during which time I learned just how serious the British criminal justice system takes racial slurs. One of the professors gave the example of someone yelling at a bouncer who kicked them out of a club, and the bouncer was Indian. If the guy called the bouncer a jerk and walked away, nothing would happen. But if the guy called the bouncer a jerk and mentioned his ethnicity in any way, that would be considered a hate crime and he could be arrested. I have no idea how often people are actually punished for it, but they made it sound like it was a pretty serious offense that they dealt with harshly.

Hopefully Naomi Campbell will finally do some real jail time. I doubt it’ll be anything legendary in terms of length, but anger management and community service clearly hasn’t done a thing for her. She still thinks she’s mightily entitled to do whatever she feels like and treat people like crap.
