Christie Brinkley is “a cover girl for plastic surgery”

If you could get work done to your face, like whatever it entails, and you would look as good as Christie Brinkley at 58 would you do it? I totally would! I’m not saying that we would be as stunning as Christie Brinkley, (well some of you would, but not me) because we’re working with what we have, but if I could get someone to make me look like a fresh, slightly older version of how I looked when I was about 30 I would. (I turn 40 in a few months.) I’m not going to front like I’m above it or haven’t thought about it. It’s the bad work, the puffy lips, the too-thin noses, and the women who can barely move their faces who have me staying away from plastic surgery – for now. That’s your face and if you screw it up you’re f*ked! But Christie did it the right way, and she has much better luck at picking surgeons that she does husbands. The shrewd doctor that Radar has on speed dial is praising her plastic surgeon for his fine work. Here’s more:

Speaking exclusively to RadarOnline.com, Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not treated the star, lifted the lid on the extensive surgery he believes Brinkley has had.

“It appears that Christie is a cover girl for plastic surgery!” said Youn, a board certified plastic surgeon and member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

“She still looks almost as young as she did in the 80s.

“Her skin is flawless, possibly due to a combination of laser treatments and chemical peels. Her forehead is impossibly smooth. Impossible without maybe a little Botox? I also suspect that her upper eyelids have been lifted surgically.

“Overall she still looks like a young Uptown Girl!”

The timeless model has never addressed reports of plastic surgery but puts her sensational figure and eternal youth down to a vegetarian diet and working out.

[From Radar]

Ok, so she’s had laser and chemical skin treatments, a little botox, and a little upper eye lift. I would also guess she also had surgery or lipo on her neck to make it look tight in that area. (Taking notes.) As you can tell, I’m firmly in the “whatever you need” camp when it comes to surgery, but I do think you should get it done as subtly as possible. All that said, I’m reminded of when I saw Christie on The Today Show bitching and fake-crying about her ex. Her face looked faker in motion than it does in photos, so there’s always a risk involved.

There was a crazy story about Christie last week. You know how she still has it out for her ex husband and has been bad mouthing him to the press? (He cheated on her with an 18 year-old girl for God’s sake, but Christie isn’t exactly playing happy co-parent with him to say the least.) Well her ex husband, Peter Cook, has a new wife, who gave a long statement to The NY Post about how Christie has allegedly been tormenting them. Peter’s new wife, Suzanne, went to Indonesia for a while (Probably after she read Eat, Pray, Love) and she blames it all on Christie, as if Christie drove her into hiding. She told The Post “There has been a lot of gossip circling around the reasons I have left the country for such an extended period. Mainly that I found evidence of infidelity, and I am filing for divorce. [The truth is] The black cloud of Christie Brinkley’s hate has hung over our lives for the five years I have been with Peter, and has taken an unhappy toll on me and my daughter’s life — on all our lives. I needed a break.” Suzanne went on to add that “To this day she has not stopped with her Peter Cook obsession.” This woman sounds like as much of a drama queen as Christie, but I don’t doubt that Christie tries to make her life hell. She seems like she’s sickly sweet on the outside but you better not cross her.

Christie Brinkley’s ex Peter Cook: she has been on a campaign to smear me

Yesterday Christie Brinkley went on The Today Show, allegedly to promote her role in “Chicago” on Broadway, but she spent the whole time talking about how her ex husband, Peter Cook, had done her wrong. Christie and Peter share custody of their two teen children after their 2008 divorce. Christie recently filed for unpaid child support from Peter, after he missed five months or so of his meager $1,200 a month support. Peter claimed he was watching the kids full time during the period while Christie was on Broadway, and that he contacted their lawyers beforehand and got permission not to pay child support for that time. He said this on “Nightline” earlier this month and also claimed that Christie was trying to “publicly castrate” him in the press. On “The Today Show” yesterday, Christie called Peter a narcissist, denied that she had fought to make their divorce public and stated that it was NY law that all divorces were public, and she also said that she never wanted to make the latest details of their court filings public at all.

Well now Peter is firing back, of course. This will never end. He issued a statement saying that Christie is just trying to continue to vilify him, basically, and that she lied about not deliberately trying to make their divorce public record.

Cook fired back in a furiously worded statement: “Christie was entirely dishonest about the circumstances surrounding the current court action which was precipitated by her and . . . is doing further damage to our children . . . I am also shocked by the blatant lies she told regarding our divorce proceedings of four years ago, including denying the indisputable fact that she fought for an open courtroom despite the warnings it would harm our children.” He fumed she, “will stop at nothing to continue the drama in our lives in order to harass me and keep herself relevant in the media.” He rails at the accusation that he’s a “deadbeat dad,” saying. “[She] does not want peace, she wants attention.” He concludes Brinkley still wants revenge on him for cheating with Diana Bianchi, adding: “Clearly, Christie does not believe I was punished enough four years ago for my indiscretions in our marriage, but for the sake of our children I wish she would find a way to move on.”

[From The NY Post]

It is true that family courts in NY State are technically supposed to be open to the public by law. A 2011 NY Times investigation found that 90% of them were not open however, and stated that judges routinely made decisions to close cases for privacy reasons. So it’s probably true that Christie fought to have her divorce open to the public, as was reported at the time.

Cook also spoke to NBC News, just like Christie, and he was pissed. His interview with Savannah Guthrie starts at about 1:17 here:

Cook said that “the entire content of [Christie's] interview was a lie, where she claims that I am harassing and bullying her… we haven’t had a conversation in four and a half years. We haven’t e-mailed each other directly in two years, so this perception that I am harassing and bullying her is nonsense.

He also called her tears “crocodile tears” and claimed “Ever since the separation she has been on a campaign to smear me. There is no Peter Cook press machine. I have no interest in the press.. you don’t hear about Peter Cook until Christie Brinkley brings something up from the past to make herself relevant again.

Give me a break, this guy has been giving tons of interviews. He claimed he’s just “Defending attacks by my ex wife” and that “I have not breached confidentiality, she did in this morning’s interview… we’re allowed to speak… about anything post-divorce. Discussing issues that are pre-divorce is a violation of confidentiality.

As for the irony of both of them calling each other narcissists, (a clever question by Guthrie), Cook deflected it by claiming narcissism somehow made him a better father. “Yeah, there’s a part of my narcissism that makes me a really great dad… narcissism makes you focus attention on something.

Cook admitted his public battle with Brinkley was “terrible for my children, but the damage was done when she fought to open that court in 2008. This is in Google eternity.

I’ll just end this here. It’s getting too complicated and annoying for me. These two were probably perfect for each other for at least a decade. They seem to have a lot in common with the way they’re still bickering over their custody issues.

Christie Brinkley breaks down crying about her divorce, calls her ex a narcissist

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, divorced after 12 years in 2008. The divorce was public and we learned some pretty damning details about Cook, including the fact that he’d had an affair with an 18 year-old intern he hired (and later paid a reported $300,000 to keep quiet) and that he had a very expensive online porn habit, costing thousands a month. Christie and Peter have two children, daughter Sailor Lee, 13, and son Jack, 16. (Jack is from Christie’s third marriage, to Richard Taubman, and was adopted by Peter. Christie also has daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 26, from her first marriage, to Billy Joel.)

Some think Christie should have kept all of her husband’s ridiculous indiscretions quiet in order to spare their then-tween children the details. I initially had that opinion, but Christie is claiming that she had nothing to do with the fact that her divorce was public and that Peter spread that story in order to malign her.

After I saw Peter interviewed on 20/20 in late 2008, I had much more sympathy for Christie. Peter basically blamed Christie for the fact that he cheated on her, and used the old “my wife wasn’t paying attention to me” line. He said crap like “I was seeking a connection I could not find in my own marriage” as if all of that was on Christie, not him. Later we found out that he had secretly made sex tapes of himself with his 18 year-old mistress, with the mistress publicly stating that it was without her knowledge or consent.

Well now Christie Brinkley, 58, is returning to Broadway in “Chicago,” and she’s still feuding with her ex over child support and visitation issues. Peter pays $1,200 a month child support, but he’s not up to date on his payments. After Christie filed paperwork with the courts claiming she was owed child support and that Peter was sending her nasty e-mails, Peter went on Nightline earlier this month and spewed a bunch of crap about how Christie was “publicly castrating him.” (His interview starts at 1:55 into this video.) Peter claimed that he didn’t owe support for a period of time in which Christie was away working, because he was watching the kids full time. Well Christie did her first interview on her divorce on The Today Show this morning. She also claimed that Peter has been trying to destroy her image, she called him a narcissist and she broke down crying.

“Since the day that he realized that I was not coming back, there has been a real character assassination going on. I asked for and got a confidentiality agreement with the original divorce. I alone have maintained the confidentiality agreement.

“I had offers for a sympathetic show from Oprah… everyone asked me to come on, I did not want to do it.”

“I have turned the other cheek,” she said, adding that her former spouse of 12 years has repeatedly taken to the airwaves to air their dirty laundry. “There’s not one quote from me, anywhere. This is the first time I’ve ever been on a show (to talk about the split).

“I’m really here because next week I’m going to start promoting Chicago. This became such a big deal. I’ve endured about two weeks of lies and stories, when actually four months prior… I quietly filed to protect my family from that. Part of my suit, I was actually clear to the judge ‘please determine this on paper.’

She revealed that Cook pays $600 per month for each of their children, though he has been quoted as saying he pays “double” what’s required by courts. “It’s a very minimal amount of money,” she said. “And it wasn’t (about) the money. I have hesitated to do anything with the court because he actually likes the publicity and he likes going to court.”

While Cook has called Brinkley a “narcissistic egomaniac,” Brinkley seems to feel much the same way about him: “I have never taken part in name calling. The only thing I’ve ever said … at the end of that (second) trial I said as a public service, ‘Google “divorcing a narcissist.”‘ … I’m not alone. I’ve gotten hundreds of letters from women that are going through this. It’s not easy.”

Lauer was concerned about the impact all of this back-and-forth between the parents was having on their teenaged children; Brinkley returned that there should be “legislation that protects families from a spouse who has been diagnosed by the court-appointed forensic psychiatrist as a bona fide malignant or extreme narcissist…. This is something the courts need to come to grips with.”

But as time wound down, and there was little chat of “Chicago,” Brinkley lost her own grip. While telling Lauer she has not been in touch with Cook for two years, though “he continues to contact me,” she said she asked a judge to “please make this stop, protect my right to peace. I just want peace for my family.”

Tears welling in her eyes, Brinkley said, “I just want peace. And every time I have any joy or any kind of success in anything, he has to try to destroy it.”

[From Today.com]

The stuff about the confidentiality agreement didn’t sound entirely right to me. As I mentioned, I thought that Christie fought to have the divorce made public, however she told Matt Lauer that “in New York State divorce court is always open. I had my trial like every other woman going through a divorce.” She might not be able to write a book about it, but all the crap that her ex did is already out there. I did find the rest of her argument somewhat persuasive. Her ex went on TV complaining about her after she filed what she says was standard court paperwork for child support. She’s claiming that she didn’t mean for this to be public at all. So now she’s trying to clear the air and defend herself.

As the article above explains, Matt tried to call out Christie for feuding with her ex and creating a “poisonous atmosphere” which could “severly impact” the children. She then retorted that her ex husband is a narcissist and has a personality disorder. She didn’t take any responsibility for her relationship with him, but I’m not in her position and maybe it’s as bad as she’s saying. It didn’t make sense to me in that she still seems to be blaming him, though. She then broke down crying, saying that she just hopes for peace in her life. At least Lauer made the point that there are two sides to every story. I tend to agree with him.

Christie and Alexa “before” – in 2008

Star Magazine has before and after photos of former supermodel Christie Brinkley and her daughter Alex Ray Joel, 24, that show that both of them had plastic surgery recently. Alexa seems to have had a nose job, according to the photo evidence and an expert quoted by Star. Christie, 56, has opted for some kind of face lift. I think both Christie and Alexa looked better before, although it’s kind of a toss up with Alexa as she’s still gorgeous with an obviously tapered nose. Christie is looking too tightly pulled and she’s starting to get that chipmunk cheek artificial look that’s a dead giveaway for too much work. She should have left well enough alone and is going to have to watch it. Here’s Star’s teaser report on this story. They also have a better before and after picture than the one we cobbled together.

Some mothers and daughters bond over shopping. For Christie Brinkley and Alexa Ray Joel, it’s plastic surgery! In the May 10 issue of Star, we exclusively reveal that the supermodel and her singer daughter, whose dad is Billy Joel, both went under the knife earlier this month — one day apart — at Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital.

What was on the makeover menu? A mini face-lift for Christie and a nose job for Alexa, which — according to NYC-based plastic surgeon Dr. Norman M. Rowe — set them back about $60,000!

It was money well spent, a source tells Star. “Both Alexa and Christie are so happy.”

And just weeks after their respective surgeries, Christie and Alexa showed off their new looks when they attended the premiere of Last Play at Shea — to support Billy — at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC on Sunday.

Pick up the new Star today for the full story about Christie and Alexa Ray’s mother/daughter plastic surgeries. Plus: Read our six-page spread — Nips, Tucks & Lies — about plastic surgery in Hollywood with before and after pix of celebs like Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and Blake Lively.

[From Star Magazine's website]

I personally don’t think it’s so strange that a mom and daughter had plastic surgery just a day apart. My mom had a face lift and I could see getting some work done with her. (I haven’t had anything done yet, but am not ruling it out and will probably try Botox soon.) I know that will sound insane to many of you, and it’s probably just a sign of the times. On one hand I’m wary of looking freaky like this but on the other side I have to admit I’m considering a face lift when the time comes.

People are getting plastic surgery with mixed results. You really have to opt for minor procedures and make sure you don’t go overboard, because it’s easy to ruin your looks and end up much worse than you were before. Even with just one or two seemingly small surgeries some people end up unrecognizable. Just look at Jennifer Grey.

Does anyone like Christie’s new look better than her old one? There’s something not-quite-human about her new look and she’s starting to resemble a plastic doll. Maybe it will settle for her.

Update: Alexa admits to People that she had her nose done, and says that she’s wanted it done for a long time. I like how candid she is and how she sounds confident about it.

Alexa Ray tells PEOPLE she’s feeling much better–inside and out. The 24-year-old singer underwent rhinoplasty earlier this month, and says she’s overjoyed by the results. “I was thinking about getting this for years,” says Joel. Her nose, she adds, “always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side. To some people that’s vain, but at the end of the day, we all want to feel pretty.” But the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley says she’s done with plastic surgery. Says Joel, “Would I do anything else to my body? No. It’s not ten procedures like Heidi Montag. For me, that’s a little extreme, but to each her own.” As for the timing of the surgery–just four months after her overdose scare following a breakup–Joel says this was the right time for her. “Would it have been smart to get this procedure last year?” she asks. “No. I didn’t know who I was.” And now? “I feel really good.”

Alexa Ray Joel thanks friends & mom for helping her through rough time

fp_4148797_joel_alexa_nyc_120509

The first week in December, Alexa Ray Joel was hospitalized after she sort-of attempted suicide by taking an overdose of homeopathic pills. I say “sort-of” because I, and many others, think it was more a cry for help than a genuine suicide attempt, and Alexa Ray seemed physically fine after a brief hospitalization. After she got out of the hospital, her parents Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley stepped up in a big way to take care of their 24-year-old daughter. There were tabloid reports that she has been staying with either of them throughout the past month, and her parents are just trying to focus on making sure she’s getting healthy, emotionally and physically.

On New Year’s Eve Alexa sent out a message on her Facebook page thanking her friends, fans and family alike for their support throughout the past month. This is Alexa’s first public statement since the suicide attempt, and it kind of breaks my heart:

In the new year, Alexa Ray Joel plans to speak up about the “heartbreak-related depression” that contributed to her scary Dec. 5 incident — in which she was rushed to Manhattan’s St. Vincent’s Hospital after swallowing a handful of homeopathic pills. (The pills weren’t capable of killing her, but a panicked Joel called 911 to get checked out by doctors.)

The recovering 24 year-old musician posted a note on Facebook on New Year’s Eve to gratefully acknowledge her friends, fans and supporters. “I just wanted to thank you all for the incredible outpouring of love and support,” wrote Joel, the daughter of music legend Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley. “It’s certainly been a whirlwind of a month, but reading all of your encouraging posts has never failed to cheer me up!”

Noting “many new exciting developments” for 2010, Joel mentions “creative projects” plus volunteer work, including a new pet cause. The rock progeny says she wants “to help young girls with something I feel I know a GREAT deal about: Heartbreak-Related Depression. Although it does not get much attention in our society, it is a very serious and painful condition that often gets ‘swept under the carpet.’ I hope to bring this topic more to light”

At the time of her early December incident, Joel had been dealing with the end of a long-term relationship with former bandmate Jimmy Riot. Joel, a graduate of NYU, says she is extending her education to further examine her depression. “I’m even going back to school for Psychology in hopes to learn more about this and many other afflictions that many of us have had to face,” she says. “After all, there’s nothing more fascinating than the human mind and it’s respective conditions.”

In the Facebook note, the young woman also thanks her mother for a recent birthday celebration (she turned 24 on Dec. 29): ” Just want to send a quick shout-out to my beautiful Mother and all of her friends for the lovely “Birthday Tribute”… I was very moved by that, so thank you!!!!”

[From Us Weekly]

I feel for this girl, I really do. I think she just got overwhelmed with everything that was happening to her and around her, what with her split with her boyfriend, her parents’ public divorces, her own struggling music career, I can easily see and commiserate with how overwhelmed she felt. I’ve been there myself – not to the point of overdosing, but I went through a year when I had a bad breakup, an emotional breakdown and a series of devastating panic attacks that left me reassessing my life. I hope Alexa continues to get stronger and healthier, and I hope we see more of her this year!

Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley issue joint statement about Alexa Ray
Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley

Just because two parents are divorced doesn’t mean they can’t work together for the sake of their children. Billy Joel and ex-wife Christie Brinkley have done just that, by issuing a joint statement this morning on behalf of their troubled 23-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray, who was hospitalized after a suicide attempt earlier this week. Both Joel and Brinkley expressed anger at some of the tabloids for their factual inaccuracies in the days after their daughter’s hospitalization, especially the NY Post.

Alexa Ray Joel’s long-divorced mom and dad, Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel, are teaming up for a heavy-duty round of defense.

Shortly after the 23-year-old musician was rushed to the hospital for an apparent suicide attempt, the New York Post ran a story about a recent family vacation gone awry. Needless to say, that family was less than thrilled.

“Every parent can imagine the pain and anguish we face as parents of a daughter who is working to recover from the dangerous actions she took while suffering a devastating heartbreak,” Billy, 60, and Christie, 55, said in a joint statement issued this morning. “As much as we hate dignifying tabloid stories with a response, we feel we must set the record straight to protect our family.”

Then they rip into the newspaper.

“The story that ran in the New York Post on December 8th, and has been subsequently spread across the Internet, is filled with vicious lies and attempts to smear our character and that of our beloved daughter. We ask the public and legitimate media outlets to please ‘consider the source’ and to not further exacerbate our daughter’s situation by repeating and legitimizing these false reports.”

They even sign the statement together: “With much appreciation, Billy Joel & Christie Brinkley.”

Billy and Alexa’s rep, Claire Mercuri, tells E! News the family is not seeking legal action against the New York newspaper.

It would be nice if folks would just leave Alexa alone for a little while and let her get herself together. It would be even better if the tabloids would get the facts right before rushing off to the presses. I always take the NY Post’s reports with a huge grain of salt- they usually end up being a bunch of bull, loosely held together by a couple nuggets of truth. Whatever is going on, it looks like Alexa’s parents have circled the wagons and are trying to protect her. I hope she is getting the help she needs and is able to recover in private.

Christie Brinkley’s ex tries to use 15 year-old document from ex nanny against her

wenn2465211
I followed Christie Brinkley’s rather fascinating divorce closely last year. Christie came across as a kind of neurotic power mom who worked hard to make life fun and cupcake-filled for her two youngest children. Her ex husband, Peter Cook, seemed like a royal scumbag. He was having an affair with an 18 year-old girl he hired to work at his architecture firm and was blowing thousands of dollars a month on online porn. This was Christie’s fourth marriage and all three of her children are from different husbands, so it would seem that if she’s guilty of anything it’s piss poor taste in men.

After the divorce was finalized, Cook went on 20/20 and whined to Barbara Walters that he cheated because his wife wasn’t giving him enough ego-stroking. Brinkley then filed for a restraining order to keep her children away from Cook, claiming he violated the confidentiality clause of his $2.1 million divorce settlement by going on 20/20 and by showing footage of their children, Sailor Lee, 11, and Jack, 14. (Jack is from Brinkley’s third marriage, to Richard Taubman. He was adopted by Cook.)

Nearly a year later and Cook is still trying to get back at Christie for not letting him see his kids. A 40 page affidavit from a former nanny who worked for Christie way back in 1994 when she was divorcing her second husband, Billy Joel, has come to light. Cook doesn’t exactly take responsibility for leaking the document, but it seems like he’s the one responsible.

Cook and Brinkley have officially reached a settlement, but he’s continued to charge that she’s trying to turn their children – their daughter, Sailor, and Brinkley’s son with Rick Taubman, Jack – against him.

That’s why Cook is cheered by the delivery of some fresh dirt on Christie, courtesy of Alzirene Vianna, who looked after Billy and Christie’s daughter, Alexa Ray, from June 1993 to December 1994.

In 1995, when Billy and Christie were still dealing with matrimonial issues, Vianna gave Billy’s lawyers an affidavit, which we’ve obtained.

Vianna alleges in the never-aired 40-page statement that:

  • “Christie never encouraged Alexa to call Billy” and told Vianna to eavesdrop on phone conversations Alexa had with Billy. When Vianna took Alexa for a visit with Billy, Christie told Vianna to let her know if Billy was drinking again. “I want you to spy for me,” Vianna quotes Christie as saying.
  • After Christie had left Billy for handsome Colorado businessman Taubman, she was packing her bags for Telluride when Alexa, then age 8, started “acting up.” “Christie told her in a very harsh tone that if she wanted to come with her to Colorado … she would have to stop behaving like this, because she didn’t want Alexa to ruin her relationship with Ricky.”
  • It wasn’t long before Christie and Rick were getting into arguments: “Ricky would … kick furniture and slam doors.” Once, while staying at a hotel in California, Rick wouldn’t let Christie into their room. “Christie started pounding on the door and kicking it … Rick later told Christie: ‘No wonder Billy left you; who can live with you?’”
Once, while Rick was getting into a car outside their house, “Christie opened a window, threw something and said, ‘[Bleep] you, you ass-!’”

  • People began to talk about “Christie’s addiction to prescription drugs.” Said Vianna: “I remember going to the pharmacy every day in East Hampton to get several prescriptions filled for [Christie].”
  • Christie wouldn’t grant Alexa’s wish for Billy to come to school events. Alexa sobbed when she said goodbye to Billy after a visit and “seemed to withdraw.”

Gary Smith, a spokesman for Cook, says Vianna’s tales of “parental alienation and interference … unfortunately continue to this date and come as no surprise to Mr. Cook.”

Claire Mercuri, who represents Billy and Alexa, says, “These accusations are false and unfounded.”

Brinkley’s lawyer, Loren Plotkin, calls Vianna a “disgruntled employee,” adding: “Christie Brinkley denies these baseless, false and malicious allegations. … One must question the motive of the individual who dredged up this document as nothing more than a shameful, transparent and ultimately fruitless attempt to hurt Christie and her family.”

  • [From The NY Daily News]

Peter Cook is such a dirtbag and he’s digging up whatever he can to try and make it seem as if Christie is turning his kids against him. I don’t know what’s going on with his visitation, but he made his filthy bed and those kids belong with their mom. Even Billy Joel and Alexa deny this story by a nanny who worked for them for all of 18 months. It’s telling that this 15 year-old document is the best dirt that Cook can dig up on Brinkley, because even if all these claims are true they’re not that damning.

Christie Brinkley endorses ‘tea party angels’ for tweens to learn about charity

    wenn2647184
This story really touched me, and I wanted to share it here. Christie Brinkley is endorsing a new project meant to help young girls learn about charity and do their part. Through selling kits for charity-based tea parties for tween girls, Tea Party Angels hopes to educate them about the situation of girls and women in the third world along with raising money for worthy causes. The group supports charities throughout the world, with a focus on girls’ education. Christie explains in a video on the website for Tea Party Angels (link has automatic video) that “Just one party could buy tuition, a uniform, books, a bike for one girl so she can go to school.”

Brinkley and Tea Party Angels founder Cheryl Beck explained the project to MomLogic. Beck calls Tea Party Angels “a tribute to the memory of my grandmothers Beck and Jackson. Two completely different yet amazing women whose tea cups I keep visible to me every day for inspiration.” She has a background in marketing and wanted to do something to raise awareness and money for charity:

Momlogic: Cheryl, how did you come up with the tea party idea?
Cheryl: There’s so much movement around helping girls’ education around the world. I really feel passionate about it — and I wanted to use my creativity and marketing talent to put something together and give back. I tried to come up with something that would be like a party in a box — something really easy in terms of a fund-raising opportunity.

ML: Christie, aside from being here today, you and your daughter host the Tea Party Angels video. How did you get involved?
Christie: They tracked me down and I’m so thrilled and honored that they did. I really feel that our kids should be giving back, and that girls are overlooked. They really don’t understand the power that they have. Girls and women are naturally nurturing, and so to actually tap into that power and give them a way that they can literally change the world is so amazing. It’s wonderful for our daughters to come to understand that they can make a difference.

    ML: A girls-helping-girls-by-doing-something-girly concept? What a win-win!
Cheryl: I thought if there are girls that need help around the world, then what better opportunity than to have girls in the U.S. helping them and really learning that all girls don’t have the same privileges that we have. There are so many girls that don’t even know that girls in other countries don’t have schools. So, part of our mission is to spread awareness, and that will foster the spirit of wanting to give back in charity. But it has to start with an understanding that these girls don’t have the same basic necessities.

Christie: The event actually illustrates to them how they can help people. It’s not just an abstract concept. They can learn about the chain of events that happen when they get involved. They learn that they can either stay in front of a computer or TV set, or go out to an event and raise some money — which in a third-world nation is a ton of money — and they can see what happens when a girl their age is exposed to a book, a school, a library … it opens up an entire world of opportunity and possibilities.

I just think it’s so wonderful. I was shocked to learn that no one else has empowered young girls. It’s amazing how many kids really want to help. We just need to provide them with a formula. The tea parties are a really fun formula — they can see their friends while giving back and making a difference.

ML: What are your goals for Tea Party Angels?
Christie: I want thousands and thousands of mothers and daughters hosting tea parties across the country. Even if the tea party raises a little bit of money, it’ll add up to millions and really make a difference.

You can learn more on their website, and order kits for a charity tea party for $35, which includes cups and saucers for six girls, a teapot, and an educational DVD. This is such a great concept and good for Brinkley for lending her star power to such a worthy cause!

Christie Brinkley wants her daughter to date John Mayer

There are several really gross parts to this story, so I’ll start slowly. First, there’s Alexa Ray Joel, the 23-year-old daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley. I think Alexa’s pretty, in that pale, bug-eyed, Anne Hathaway kind of way. So, Christie Brinkley is Alexa Ray’s mother, and as such, Christie is interested in setting up her single daughter with someone nice. Now, let’s stop right there – Christie Brinkley rather infamously went through her fourth divorce, to Peter Cook, last year after he was caught having an affair with his very young assistant. I’m not saying the affair was Christie’s fault, I’m just saying that she’s been married and divorced four times, so maybe she doesn’t have the best taste in men. But that’s not stopping Christie from playing matchmaker… and how. She wants to set Alexa up on a date with… John Mayer.

Rocker John Mayer has the approval of former supermodel Christie Brinkley if he ever wants to date her daughter Alexa Ray.

Newly-single Brinkley admits she’s quite fond of the singer/songwriter herself but insists her “cougar days” are over when it comes to dating toy-boys.

However she says, “He’s perfect dating material for my daughter… You guys could make beautiful music together.”

Singer/songwriter Alexa, 23, is Brinkley’s daughter by rocker Billy Joel.

Jeez, Mom. Aim higher, right? I would be totally offended if my mom wanted me to date John Mayer. Alexa Ray is by no means so unfortunate that she has go for John “Bottom of the Barrel” Mayer. This just speaks volumes about Christie – her taste in men isn’t just bad, it’s epically horrible.

This story just make me thankful my mom knows my taste in men, and she’s rooting for me to meet Gerard Butler, even though Gerry doesn’t really float her boat. Even though it’s a little gross, I don’t think my mom would even mind George Clooney as a son-in-law, although he’s closer to her age than mine. But I think my mom’s heart was broken when Matt Damon ran off and married Luciana, and didn’t even call my mom to see if I was available. Matt was the one who got away, for my mom at least.

Christie Brinkley files for restraining order against ex-husband

Christie Brinkley’s ex-husband Peter Cook seems to think it’s really important for him to salvage his name – even though the guy has so little self-awareness that he doesn’t realize every word out of his mouth only makes his situation worse. The online porn addict/real life adulterer gave an interview to 20/20 that will air this Friday. In it, Cook tries to blame every single martial problem on Brinkley, and instead of looking better just looks like a simpering fool. Brinkley fired back at Cook’s comments later that day and has since applied for a restraining order to keep Cook away from their children.

Christie Brinkley has filed a request for a temporary restraining order and a motion for post-judgment relief again her ex-husband Peter Cook, a Suffolk County, N.Y., official confirms to PEOPLE. The motion was filed Wednesday – two days before Cook’s revealing interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters is set to air.

Cook, 49, who has admitted to having an affair with an 18-year-old assistant and an online pornography habit, told Walters during his interview for Friday night’s 20/20 broadcast, “I’m not the … pervert that I’ve been painted to be.” The restraining order would prevent Cook from seeing his children and is not to keep him away from Brinkley, a source close to Cook tells PEOPLE.

“She’s upset because the kids are seen in footage during the 20/20 interview,” the source says. Cook last saw the children when they had dinner on Wednesday night, and they are scheduled to be together this weekend, the source says. Brinkley and Cook halted their messy divorce trial in July when both parties announced a settlement deal. The judge in the case, Mark Cohen, signed their final divorce decree Sept. 29.

The new motion is on the court calendar for Oct. 29, but the court official said it’s unclear at this point whether the parties will actually appear in court or if their lawyers will simply submit statements to the judge in writing.

So Cook and Brinkley were officially divorced on September 29th. That means within a week of everything being over and done with, Cook had violated the confidentiality agreement that was part of their divorce settlement. Wow, that really does sound like a trustworthy, upstanding guy.

I think he’s just a narcissist and is incapable of handling people thinking he’s anything less than absolute perfection. He needed his ego stroked by his wife and his 18-year-old girlfriend, and now he’s aware that the general public thinks he’s slime. All that matters to Cook is doing whatever it takes to let him think everyone else admires him again; otherwise his entire ego will crumble. Considering it only took a week for him to mess up, it sounds like Brinkley and Cook’s custody issues will go on for a long, long time.
