Kim Kardashian wears her own Kardashian Kollection LBD: surprisingly cute?

These are photos of Kim Kardashian yesterday in London. She and Kourtney were in London to launch their latest collection/collaboration – The Kardashian Kollection at Dorothy Perkins. I spent about ten minutes looking at these photos last night, thinking to myself “Damn, I kind of like her dress.” I waited until this morning to discuss the pics because I wanted to see the designer ID on the dress, because I thought it was going to be a fancy designer label. Turns out that Kim is wearing, and continues to wear, her own Kardashian Kollection label. Can you believe it? She’s actually wearing something she designed (sort of) and it actually looks good on her (sort of)! Kim tweeted, “Love my Kardashian Kollection dress I got today at Dorothy Perkins!” An affordable, flattering, long-sleeved LBD for curvy girls? Damn it, I might be a fan.

After the launch, Kim and Kanye West went to dinner at Hakkasan. The Mail is making a big deal about the way Kanye is dressed – Hakkasan is a “Michelin star restaurant” so Kanye probably should have made a bit more of an effort, I guess. Page Six reported yesterday that Kanye wasn’t even supposed to come to London with Kim, but he “rushed” to England from Miami and then “rushed” to the Dorchester, where Kim is staying. Aw.

PS… I really don’t know what’s going on with the discoloration on her legs. I’m assuming it’s a weird flash, right?

Duchess Kate repeats a Temperley gown: does she (finally) look pregnant?

Dear Kate: Baby girl, you have great hair/extensions. Even though I think you should wear your hair back for formal evening occasions (especially black-tie events, FTLOG), if you insist on wearing your hair down, can you at least push it back a little so that we can see your face? Because all we see is a WALL OF HAIR. Waity’s Wall of Hair. That’s what it is.

Anyway, these are photos from Kate and William’s appearance at their alma mater, St. Andrews, for a university fundraiser. Kate wore a familiar Temperley gown – she wore this same dress earlier this year for the UK premiere of War Horse. Kate didn’t feel like returning to her old university was worth wearing a new frock. Suck it, peasants! No, just kidding, she’s thrifty! Except not really. Interesting sidenote: on Wednesday, Kate, Pippa and Lupo the Puppy went to another “fundraiser” together – a “charity bazaar”. Meaning she got to SHOP! For charity! We didn’t have those photos – go here to see – but when I saw them yesterday, I thought Kate looked kind of pregnant, and I got excited because I rarely fall for the Bump Watching of the Duchess. But now that I’m looking at these photos from last night… I don’t think she’s pregnant. If anything, she’s thinner than before.

During the reception at St. Andrews, Kate joked with some of the undergrads, telling them, “I hope you weren’t involved in the fashion show, you never know what you are going to be asked to wear!” Kate also mentioned in passing that she regretted not learning how to play golf when she was a student, which just seems like a weird regret to have (IMO). William gave a speech in which he spoke about his “happy, happy memories” of the university, and he called Kate his “art guru…she was much better at it than me.” My absolute favorite DUN DUN DUN quote from William was when he was asked about their engagement portrait done by Mario Testino. His response is ripe for parsing! He said: “If we had asked for that picture of us hugging we wouldn’t have got it. It was just very natural and summed up how unbelievably happy we were.” PAST TENSE!!

PS… Us Weekly claims that Queen Elizabeth is “pleased” that Pres. Obama won re-election, and that Kate and William “sent a personal note of congratulations to Barack Obama.”

Christina Hendricks in black L’Wren Scott at the AFI Fest: pretty or trashy?

These are some photos from last night’s AFI Fest screening/premiere of the new film Ginger & Rosa. If that film sounds familiar, it’s because we covered some pics of the London Film Festival premiere a few weeks ago. The film stars Christina Hendricks, Elle Fanning, and Alice Englert, all of whom you can see in these photos. Sigh… I really don’t like the way anyone looks here. I know I’m nit-picky and bitchy and all of that, but seriously! WHY does Christina Hendricks insist on doing that to her boobs? WHY does a 14-year-old need to wear a strapless gown?! Let’s analyze.

Christina is wearing L’Wren Scott. You know how much I love L’Wren – I think her clothes are classic, elegant and very, very wearable for women with diverse body types. Is this sparkly black dress flattering on Christina? Yes. It is. It’s a pretty dress that I personally would have no problems wearing. But I feel like we’ve reached a point where Christina should be beyond jacking up her boobs for every red carpet. We don’t need to see your girls EVERY time, Chrissy.

As for Elle… she’s 14 years old. This is the second time she’s gone strapless for a film festival premiere for just THIS movie. The last time it was in London, and she wore a cardigan draped around her shoulders with her strapless Rochas gown. This time there’s no cardigan to pair with her Oscar de la Renta gown, and I still think that she’s just too young to go strapless in general, especially on a red carpet. I do like that her face looks “fresh” and that she’s not wearing a ton of makeup. I also like the hairband. It’s youthful. Too bad about the strapless gown, though.

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney at UK ‘Gambit’ premiere: pretty or rough?

These are photos from last night’s London premiere of Gambit, the remake of a somewhat popular 1960s film, this one starring Cameron Diaz, Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, and written by the Coen Brothers. Cameron wore Stella McCartney for the premiere – she always wears a lot of Stella when she’s in England. While this isn’t the worst Stella design I’ve ever seen, it’s also not very good on Cameron. The top part looks much too tight on Cameron’s bolt-ons (and yes, she does have bolt-ons) and the pleating looks amateurish. The colors are just kind of blah on her too – but I’m not a big fan of lighter colors on the bottom. Should we talk about her face? She looks tweaked to me, but it’s weird… it seems like every time she walks a carpet these days, her face looks dramatically different. I think she goes through phases where she swears off Botox and fillers for a few months, and then she returns to them with a vengeance. It’s weird.

I’m also including an ashamed-looking Colin Firth, who looks like he’s about to apologize to all of us for some reason. Maybe he knows it’s a bad film? Because it seems like it’s a bad movie. Also included: Alan Rickman making a “Girl, WHAT are you wearing?” face. Sigh… I wish Alan Rickman would come to my house and tell me what to wear. I imagine he would be an amazing stylist.

Here’s the trailer for Gambit. It looks… I mean, Alan Rickman looks like he had a good time making it, so there’s something. Poor Colin. And Cameron seems… ugh.

Kerry Washington in hot pink Temperley London: lovely or unflattering?

Here are some photos from the “2012 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards Presented By BBC AMERICA”. I thought it was, like, some kind of LA premiere of Skyfall, but it’s not. It’s just that several of the stars of Skyfall were there. Still, I think Skyfall has one big problem: most people really don’t care about the ladies of Skyfall and what they are wearing. Which is unfortunate because I really like talking about fashion. So I’ll include the ladies in a moment, and let’s discuss Kerry Washington.

Kerry is in ABC’s Scandal, and she’s gotten great reviews for her performance. She’s also in Django Unchained, one of the most anticipated films of the Christmas season. So, everything is looking good for her career. I also think Kerry has quite a style-eye too – she’s not afraid of color, she knows what flatters her body, she knows well enough to avoid the “trashier” looking dresses. So what’s my problem with Kerry in this hot pink Temperley London dress? Nothing really. She looks beautiful. I take issue with those little bows (WTF?), but it’s fine. I guess we’re not supposed to talk about how drastically skinny she’s become over the past few years? Sure.

Daniel Craig is such an a—hole, but he knows how to wear the hell out of a tuxedo, doesn’t he?

Naomie Harris in Miu Miu. Girl, you need to fire yo’ stylist. Naomie is so pretty, but her style is SO TRAGIC.

Olivia Munn in Temperley London. It’s a pretty dress… but it doesn’t really work on her. The dress is all “Showgirl!” and Olivia is all “not a showgirl.”

Berenice Marlohe in Oscar de la Renta. Nice. She has an eyemakeup problem, though.

Quentin Tarantino! I can’t help it, I love him. He cray.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Because why not? They look so cute!

Natasha Henstridge has gained weight since I last saw photos of her. It looks really good on her – she’s curvy and lovely.

Franka Potente or Alanis Morissette?

Katie Price’s “white wedding” promotional photo shoot: the best thing ever?

Republican or Democrat, Independent or Green, conservative or liberal or centrist, can we all agree on one thing this morning? That one thing: Katie “Jordan” Price is hilarious. Katie Price is like the Kim Kardashian/Snooki of the UK, only somehow she’s even trashier. She’s a former (and current?) “glamour model” who has published several (ghost-written) bestsellers and she runs several successful budget-clothing lines. These are new photos of Katie in London today, launching “KP Rocks” which I can only assume is a line of feathered boots and feathered capes. Because why not?

I’ve discussed my love of Katie Price and her amazing photo-ops/promotional photo shoots before – go here to review. I think this promotional shoot might even be better than the last one. The last one featured a “hot pink and hot rollers” theme which really worked for me, but I like the vibe of this shoot so, so much. I like the “slutty white wedding” vibe. I LOVE the feathered boots, which probably fall apart as soon as you wear them for longer than two minutes. I love the tiara/crown! I LOVE THE CAPE. Take that, Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth thought that she was bringing back classy capes from Tom Ford. Well, Katie Price has spoken, Tom Ford. CAPES ARE BACK. Katie is the one to bring capes back. Not Goop. Not Tom Ford. You’ve been schooled, son.

Katie Price: Best Promotional Photo Poser In the World, or Best Promotional Photo Poser EVER?

Halle Berry ‘rebelled against the notion that you have to have long hair to be beautiful’

Here are some new photos of Halle Berry and Tom Hanks at the premiere of Cloud Atlas in Berlin, Germany. Tom is lovely, and Halle is… Halle. She’s beautiful and she can do no wrong (at least when it comes to her physical beauty). Halle is wearing a navy Helmut Lang dress which is pretty good. I like a good blue dress, and this one is fine. I think I would like it better if the navy didn’t seem so “dusty”. Go bold or go home, especially when you’ve got Halle’s magnificent coloring.

Yesterday, People Mag published an interview with Halle in which she discussed the issues people have with her short hair, and short hair in general. I found it interesting…

It’s been more than three years since Halle Berry famously chopped off her hair, but it’s still an ever-present topic of conversation for the star.

“When I have my short, short hair, that’s when I’m my best self,” she tells PEOPLE. “But hair doesn’t define me. It’s just an accessory that I get to wear, like a handbag or shoes.”

However, at the start of Berry’s career, her lengthy locks did define her, since long hair is so often seen as beautiful in Hollywood. “I personally fought against that stereotype when I first started acting,” she explains. “I would go on acting auditions, and every black girl would have this long, curly hair, whether it was real or not. And I would go to these auditions and come back with nothing. So I had to somehow be different.”

Berry actually made her first big cut around 1989. “I remember I went up to my manager’s office and his heart probably stopped beating. And he said, ‘You’re never going to work, you’re not what they want!’ And I said, ‘Good. Let me be something different then.”

Two weeks later, she got her first TV job, as a model on the short-lived ABC series Living Dolls. “I had short hair and that’s why they chose me — because I was different and not like everyone else. It was the way I kind of rebelled against … the notion that you have to have long hair to be beautiful.”

[From People]

Shall we really talk about this? I want to talk about this! I have long hair. I’ve had long hair almost all my life, save for a few years in college when I wore my hair slightly above my shoulders. I feel like I look better with long hair (and NO bangs) and that’s my call. I really don’t feel I have the face for short hair, nor do I have the face for bangs. In my opinion, very few women look better with bangs, and as for short hair… I think you do need to have a certain “face” for it. Like, Halle looks awesome with short hair. I think she looks better with short hair than with long hair. Anne Hathaway was not so lucky, and (just my opinion) neither was Emma Watson, who tended to look like Justin Bieber with short hair. For me, in my little world, it’s less about “long hair = the standard of beauty” and more about “see what works with your face.”

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga at the AFI screening of ‘OTR’: lovely or corpsey?

These are some photos from last night’s On the Road premiere in at the AFI Fest. I guess it was a “screening” more than a premiere, but whatever. On the Road doesn’t come out for wide release until December, and I guess the studio kind of wants to build the buzz for a possible Oscar nomination for Garrett Hedlund. But who can pay attention to Hedlund when Kristen Stewart is around? Ugh. I have to say… Kristen looked like ten kinds of hell at this screening. Almost always, I have to give Kristen credit for always rocking some great makeup – usually, her makeup artist knows what they’re doing, and Kristen can pull off some very strong makeup “looks”. But this was way, way too much. She looks ghoulish and corpsey. The lipstick is too dark, the eyes are much too heavy. As for the hair… eh. Kristen’s hair stylist is hit or miss, and I think this is a miss. Maybe her Glam Squad is pissed at her?

Kristen’s outfit is Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière. The pants are… not great. I don’t get why pleated pants are making such a comeback – they weren’t flattering the first time around, and this time around it’s not “retro,” it’s just fug. And that top looks like “Wonderbra by Balenciaga”.

I’m also including some photos of Hedlund, who was remarkably clean-shaven and that’s kind of killing any biscuit-tingle on my part. Also there: Amy Adams in a too-prom-y Dolce & Gabbana. CB likes Amy’s hair, though.

Eva Mendes in black lace Dolce & Gabbana at the AFI Fest: gorgeous or tweaked?

Last night, Eva Mendes walked the carpet at the AFI Fest for both On the Road and her own movie, Holy Motors. It was weird seeing Eva in the On the Road photo grouping, and I kind of wonder if she didn’t accidentally wander onto the On the Road red carpet when she thought she was at her own premiere. Eva wore the same dress for both appearances – a pretty Dolce & Gabbana dress in black lace. She wears a lot of D&G, and it suits her. She’s got a great figure, and when she does the “Sofia Loren style,” it works on her. The problems come when she veers away from tight and sexy with big hair.

This was her first red carpet in nearly two months – the last time she made a red carpet outing, it was at the Toronto Film Festival, and she was wearing a ridiculous turban. So… this was an improvement on the style front. Unfortunately, for this carpet, Eva did not have Ryan Gosling by her side. I think Ryan is still in Texas filming that Terrence Malick movie with Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender and others. I’ve heard from some Gos-watchers that Eva has not been in Texas with him… but she’s been filming a movie in Boston, so maybe they’ve been separated for legit reasons and they’re still very much together. Or not. Who knows?

Harper Beckham never wears her $8000 worth of baby clothes twice, of course

Even though I cover Harper Beckham photos all the time, and I’m often talking about her awesome baby style (like she has anything to do about it!), I’ve never really noticed before now that Harper never wears the same baby clothes twice. But seriously, she never does. She always wears new, never-before-seen baby clothes. At least when she’s out in public, that is. Maybe she has a Baby Gucci romper or a Baby Chanel minidress that she always wears when she’s just chillin’ at home. But Radar and The Mail claim that Harper has NEVER been photographed in the same outfit twice, and that at 15 months old, her baby wardrobe is probably worth $8000.

Talk about being a baby fashionista! Little Harper Beckham has never been photographed in the same outfit twice, sometimes even upstaging her designer mom Victoria Beckham with her fashion ensembles.

The youngest of Victoria and David Beckham’s four children has a wardrobe estimated to be worth a stunning $8,000, according to The Daily Mail.

That’s four times more than the amount an average American adult woman spends on clothes.

Some examples from Harper’s fabulous closet: dresses by Mare Chantal ($156), Little Marc Jacobs ($285) and Stella McCartney Misty ($136), tights by Chloe ($48), and a sweater by Bonpoint ($160).

[From Radar]

Yeah… $8000? For real? I think it’s a lot more than that. The Mail has a much more extensive breakdown of What Harper Wore and how much all of those items cost. The Mail is great about doing breakdowns like that – they’ve famously done those cost-analysis breakdowns for Duchess Kate’s extensive wardrobe as well. The problem is that Kate’s wardrobe is being paid for by Prince Charles and “the people”. Harper’s wardrobe is being paid for by her mom and dad, plus I’m sure Harper gets freebies too. I can’t really fault Victoria for buying Harper so many expensive baby clothes – this was her dream, to have a daughter to spoil and dress like a doll. My only hope is that Posh is donating all of Harper’s gentle-worn clothes to some kind of charity.
