Ivanka Trump recalls how she read about her parents’ divorce in Page Six

Any celebrities who honestly think that their kids aren’t going to read about their shenanigans in the tabloids should listen to Ivanka Trump. The daughter of Donald and Ivana recently revealed how as a kid, she and her brothers found out all the sordid details of their parents’ high-profile divorce thanks to Page Six and other magazines.

IVANKA Trump says that as kids, she and her brothers Donald Jr. and Eric learned the tawdry details of their parents’ scandalous divorce by reading The Post. The gorgeous blonde tells next month’s Town & Country they found out Donald was caught carrying on with model Marla Maples from this newspaper. “We’d come home from school having read [about] them on the cover of The Post,” she reveals. The most jolting possibly being: “Marla Boasts to Pals about Donald: BEST SEX I EVER HAD.”

Ivanka also takes a dig at her peers who don’t work for a living: “I’m not the type to be eating bonbons all day. I just can’t imagine anything worse than spending my day figuring out what I was going to wear that night.” Meanwhile, she flew commercial to Aspen last weekend for the Annual Food & Wine Classic, but had an unexpected one-night layover in Salt Lake City due to storms. She slept at the Quality Inn and ate at Little Caesars for dinner with her $18 stipend from the airline.

[From Page Six]

Man, and I thought my parent’s divorce was tough. I can’t even imagine picking up a newspaper and reading an interview with my dad’s mistress about how great their sex life is. I’d be in therapy for life. But, it looks like Ivanka has survived it nicely, remaining close with both her parents. However, I do wonder about some of these other celeb kids (ahem - Charlie and Denise) whose parents’ battles are splashed across headlines daily.

Ivanka Trump is shown at “The Whitney Contemporaries’ Art Party and Auction” on 6/17/08, thanks to WENN.

Liv Tyler calls her divorce “heartbreaking,” says she’s not ready to talk about it

Lovely Liv Tyler, 30, is in the process of divorcing her husband of nearly five years, British musician Royston Langon. The two remain committed parents to their three year old son, Milo. Liv has the blockbuster hit The Incredible Hulk out in theaters as well as thriller The Strangers. She confirmed her split with Royston a little over a month ago, and told OK! Magazine in a recent interview that she can’t talk about it.

Liv gave a kind and somewhat revealing response when asked how she’s dealing with the end of her marriage. She said it’s “heartbreaking,” but that it’s “personal” and she’s “not ready to talk about it.”

How are you coping with the sad news about your marriage?
I’m doing okay. But that’s too personal to talk about because it’s terribly sad. Heartbreaking. I’m really not ready to talk about it.

Why did you say yes to The Incredible Hulk?

Edward Norton wrote a really great part for me. I play a scientist, which I know is unbelievable! But I have a lot of good things to do. I really enjoyed it.

Will you let Milo watch the movie?

Maybe when he’s older. He’s too young at the moment.

We just saw you in The Strangers. Do you like scary movies?

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with horror movies. But then I watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it really scared me, so I was like, “Okay, I’m done with horror movies!”

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, June 23, 2008]

When asked what she would like to do in the business that would be new for her, Liv answered that she wants to do a musical! She says she’s always wanted a chance to sing on screen.

I would love to do a musical. That’s the dream of my whole life. I always wanted to be a singer, or get to sing. I like the Old Hollywood idea of singing and dancing; it’s so theatrical and fabulous. I have a very musical family, and I enjoy music a lot.

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, June 23, 2008]

As for what films she has coming up, Liv says she shot Smother with Diane Keaton, but is not sure “if it’s ever going to be released.” She said she did three movies in a row, took a break, and is “excited to see what happens next.”

Liv Tyler strikes me as such a good person and I hope she has a full and successful career ahead of her. She has a type of vulnerability about her that is endearing and honest. It’s got to be painful to go through a divorce, but she has many advantages in life and is sure to come out on the other side with her head high and hopefully her finances intact.

Liv Tyler is shown at the Incredible Hulk premiere on 6/3/08, thanks to PRPhotos and WENN.

Marc Anthony’s ex Dayanara Torres talks about staying in bed for days after he left

In 2004, Marc Anthony secured a quickie divorce in the Dominican Republic from his wife of over three years and mother of two of his children, former miss Universe Dayanara Torres, 33. He was married to Jennifer Lopez within a few months. When Anthony left Torres amid rumors that he was cheating with his former girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, with whom he was collaborating, Torres says she was devastated and couldn’t get out of bed for days. Torres refuses to talk poorly about Anthony or to denounce his behavior in the press. She has a new book out, Married to Me: How Committing to Myself Led to Triumph After Divorce, in which she chronicles her recovery from the pain of an unexpected split and divorce. In an interview in this week’s People Magazine she discusses the very difficult time she went through when Anthony left her, but doesn’t address the story that he was cheating on her with Lopez or bad mouth him in any way:

[Dayanara Torres' story] is a fair tale with a happy, if hard-earned, ending. Now living in L.A. with the sons she had with Anthony, Cristian, 7, and Ryan, 4, Torres has rarely spoken publicly about the split. “You get mad,” she says. “But I took the high road.” As she reveals in Married to Me, the new self-help book she cowrote with her sister Jeannette to inspire divorcées, the journy hasn’t been easy. “You want to move on as quick as possible… But you realize time is your friend. You have to get through to the other side.

She went through more than her share. After Anthony left, she found herself barely able to get out of bed. “You go through hell,” she says, her blue eyes soft. “I cried until there were no tears left - until I was numb. I didn’t want to eat; I didn’t care to get dressed or take a shower. I just wanted to like there.” But after a few months, she got a wake up call from another man in her life. “One day Cristian walked in and said ‘You’re crying again?’ I felt embarassed that they saw their mother being weak. I woke up. I realized I’d been crying for all the wrong reasons.”

She pulled herself together and tried to make things right. “I didn’t want them to choose sides,” says Torres, who keeps photos of Anthony throughout her home for the boy’s sake. “He’s not someone we need to hide - he’ll always be their father. And to this day, I don’t think they’ve seen our divorce as a bad thing.”

[From People Magazine, print edition, June 23, 2008]

People has details of Torres’ book, and say that she advises women fresh out of a divorce to “Let yourself feel the pain, Let go of regret,” and not to rush into another relationship until they’re ready. As for her husband’s new marriage, Torres talks about how happy her sons were to learn about their half-brother and sister, twins Max and Emme, nearly four months. She says “They love them! It’s cute to see.”

Torres is moving on with her life and says she’s “happy, and I don’t pin my happiness on anybody else.” She used to date Amaury Nolasco, Fernando from Prison Break, but they are “taking a break” now and she says he’s “a great guy.” She calls her life a new adventure and says she’s got healthy kids and great friends.

She deserves a lot of credit for not talking smack about Anthony or Lopez after they so obviously hooked up while he was still married with kids. She’s getting her digs in subtly by just focusing on how she suffered but not discussing her husband’s infidelity. And she continues to look like the more responsible, and wronged, party. Hopefully her new book will be a success.

Dayanara Torres is shown at “People en Espanol Celebrates its 12th Annual ‘50 Most Beautiful’ Issue” in NY on 5/14/08, thanks to WENN.

Madonna hires one of UK’s most notorious divorce attorneys (update)

Madonna has been married to director Guy Ritchie for about seven and a half years, and the two have been plagued by breakup rumors ever since. They’ve somehow managed to make it work, scheduling dinners at high profile restaurants and alerting the paparazzi whenever another split story surfaces. It may soon be long-overdue curtains for the couple. A source quoted by Holy Moly claims that Madonna has hired divorce lawyer to Britain’s elite, Nicholas Mostyn. The wiry singer was seen at Mostyn’s office about a week and a half ago. Mostyn has served on high profile divorce cases in the UK, representing Paul McCartney, and the triumphant spouses of Earl Spencer and Ray Parlour.

It is thought that Madonna and Guy have no prenup. It looks like Mr. Madonna is about to get a pretty decent payday even if Madonna has hired the best lawyer in Britain:

Suggestions made seem to indicate that, surprisingly, Madonna and Guy do NOT have a pre-nup in place, leaving Guy in line to walk away with up to half of Madge’s fortune (according to Forbes she earned $72m last year alone).

Long standing rumours of a rift between the couple are finally confirmed with this news, as Holy Moly’s sources suggest nothing more than “growing apart” as the reason for the split. They have spent increasing amounts of time apart with both Madonna’s new album and tour and Guy’s revived movie career are cited as reasons. The adoption of David Banda attracted a huge wave of negative publicity, allegedly putting further strain on the relationship. The couple have one other son, Rocco, and Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter from a relationship with her fitness instructor Carlos Leon.

Madge’s meeting with Nicholas Mostyn took place at his London office just over ten days ago.

[From Holy Moly]

Ritchie has just started to revive his long-comatose career after Madonna helped derail it with their obnoxious collaboration Swept Away in 2002. His 2005 film Revolver was critically panned and flopped at the box office, but he’s working again and has Rock N Rolla coming out later this year. He also is set to direct Sherlock Holmes for Warner Brothers, and is working on the script as well.

Madonna has tried her hand at directing, since she doesn’t have enough other stuff going on. She directed Filth and Wisdom, a semi-autobiographical piece about “three flatmates living desperate lives in London,” according to IMDB, and it’s out in the US also later this year. It’s seems like it would be a blow to Guy’s ego that his wife, who is already one of the most successful women on the planet, has started to muscle in on his territory. He may not be too bothered by it, though. In an interview in December of last year Guy demonstrated the laid back attitude that surely helps him endure his marriage. When asked if he was worried if Madonna’s career overshadowed his own he said “Don’t know what you mean! She’s got her career and I’ve got mine. What can you do? She’s Madonna.”

As for the health of their marriage, Madonna has admitted that she’s almost split with Ritchie in the past. In October, 2005 she said:

“My husband did not turn out to be everything I imagined him to be. I just wanted to end everything. It’s not easy having a good marriage but I don’t want it easy. I thank God every day that I married a man who made me think. That’s my definition of true love.” She added: “Your soulmate is the person that pushes all your buttons. Pisses you off on a regular basis and makes you face your s***.”

[From Starpulse]

Madonna also told OK! Magazine earlier this year that she and Guy sleep with their Blackberries under their pillows.

Holy Moly speculates that Madonna’s divorce will be kept as quiet as possible, but I bet it will be a circus. The press and public will be clamoring for details and there’s little chance they can keep this under wraps.

Madonna and Guy are shown looking miserable at the premiere of Madonna’s documentary I Am Because We Are in Cannes on 5/21/08, thanks to WENN.

Update: Madonna’s rep denies this report, saying “There is no truth to [reports of a divorce]. Madonna has not met with any lawyers nor are there any plans for a divorce.”

Bill Murray’s estranged wife may not be so innocent

A couple of weeks ago, we told you about the impending divorce between comic actor Bill Murray and his wife, Jennifer, who dropped a bombshell that Murray was an abusive alcholic. Now, it looks like Jennifer may have some similar issues of her own. TMZ is reporting that the soon to be ex-Mrs. Murray was picked up by police back in March for verbally abusing her children while seemingly under the influence.

Bill Murray isn’t the only Murray who gets lit and lets it out on the kids — allegedly.

Murray’s wife Jennifer Butler-Murray was pinched by the po-po in South Carolina on March 17 after allegedly getting drunk — and then violent with her kids, according to a report filed with the Sullivan’s Island Police. A witness caught Jennifer yelling at one of the couple’s kids, and the cop who cornered her wrote that she was “very impaired.”

Butler-Murray’s been blabbing in a divorce filing that Bill was addicted to booze and drugs, abused, abandoned, and once said she was “lucky he didn’t kill her.”

[From TMZ.com]

This happened months ago, but it’s just coming to light now…wonder who leaked this to the press? This divorce is shaping up to be one of those Charlie-Denise “He Said, She Said,” type of deals. Which is sad for the couple’s kids. I hope they can find a way to resolve their differences privately from here on out and concentrate on helping their children deal with the fallout that goes along with divorce.

Bill and Jennifer Murray are shown in 2004, thanks to Splash News.

Shania Twain officially speaks out about her divorce

While we’ve been fairly certain that it is Shania herself who has been leaking the details of her husband’s infidelity to the press, Shania Twain has released a letter to her fans on her official website addressing the break-up of her marriage, which makes for some interesting reading.

To my beloved fans:

As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life. I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life.

I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through my music. This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey.

I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever.

Thank you my friends, from the bottom of my heart.

Love,
Shania

What really sticks out to me is that she isn’t hiding her pain about the ending of her marriage at all. She describes herself as having a ‘broken heart’, alludes to her deep pain, and talks about her music being therapy. This is not the usual celebrity press release, where the star in question is ‘going through a difficult time but appreciates you support in this private matter’. This is a heartfelt letter to her fans.

This emotionally open letter makes me think that Celebitchy was right when she said that Shania is the one leaking details of her break-up to People magazine. If my husband cheated on me with a friend, I would want revenge. I would drag those two lyin’ cheatin’ hearts through the mud in the press. Then I would put out an absolutely amazing album without my former husband/producer’s help.

Which sounds exactly like what Shania plans to do.

Shania Twain is shown in stills from an appearance on Canadian television in November, 2005. Here is the photo description from Splash News:

“This is the emotional moment when music superstar Shania Twain broke down on live television. Tears of sadness rolled down the singer’s cheeks as she talked about growing up poor during a broadcast of Cityline on Canadian TV. She said: ‘I prayed so much when I was a kid. I just wanted to be swept away. I wanted music to take me away, I wanted music to adopt me and just take me away from all that hell. It was a rough life, a lot rougher than I have ever revealed.’”

Bill Murray’s wife files for divorce, claims he’s an alcoholic & abusive

On the rare occasions that I’ve pondered Bill Murray’s private life, I’ve assumed that he’s the type of guy who gets drunk and tries to drive to 711 in a golf cart. He seems like a goofy fun-loving guy, and maybe someone who would cheat on his wife, but not someone with an abusive temper or a mean streak. His second wife of over ten years claims otherwise and has filed for divorce along with a restraining order against Murray, 57.

Jennifer Butler Murray filed for divorce in Charleston counrty, South Carolina on May 12. Her reasons include adultery, drug addiction, alcoholism, and abuse. She details an incident in which he hit her in the face and said she was “lucky he didn’t kill her.” Under the provisions of their prenuptial agreement, Jennifer would get $7 million with no alimony or child support:

Jennifer Butler Murray cites the allegations as grounds for divorce, according to the complaint filed May 12 in family court. Records in the case were sealed Friday by a court order…

Jennifer Murray also seeks a restraining order barring Bill Murray from her Sullivan’s Island home and asks the court to determine if the couple’s premarital agreement is valid and enforceable…

According to the complaint, Jennifer Murray moved into a Sullivan’s Island home in 2006 with the couple’s four children due to her husband’s “adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment.”

Jennifer Murray purchased the Sullivan’s Island beach house in 2006 for $3.65 million, according to county property records.

It was at the Sullivan’s Island home, according to the complaint, that Murray allegedly abused his wife in November 2007. The six-page court filing says Murray “hit his wife in the face and then told her she was ‘lucky he didn’t kill her.’ ”

The complaint alleges that Murray physically abused his wife on more than one occasion during the marriage.

[From Charleston.net via TMZ]

The couple have four sons together, Caleb, 15, Jackson, 13, Cooper, 12, and Lincoln, 7. Murray also has two sons with his first wife, Margaret Kelly: Homer, 26, and Luke, 23.

Maybe Murray’s wife is emphasizing certain aspects of her husband’s character to try and get out of her prenuptial agreement, but if those claims are true that’s awful and she deserves a hefty settlement along with substantial child support. Bill Murray has three movies coming out this year: Get Smart, City of Ember, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. He is also a co-owner of minor league baseball team The Charleston Riverdogs.

Bill Murray and Jennifer Murray are shown at the 2004 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, thanks to PRPhotos.

Woman who allegedly cheated with Shania Twain’s husband denies affair

People Magazine has more insider dirt from Shaina Twain’s divorce after 14 years. I’ve said for a while that it seems like Shania is leaking the story to People herself, because they have too many insider details and she’s a woman who was wronged and isn’t about to let her husband and his mistress get away with it. Now People has a denial from the other woman. Shania’s husband “Mutt” Lange denied the affair in an earlier statement, saying that he and Shania grew apart. It sounds they pressed the alleged mistress for an answer though, because her first statement was evasive. Plus People claims to have “several sources close to the situation” who vouch for the fact that Shania’s husband cheated with this woman, who was one of Shania’s close friends in Switzerland along with managing their estate and serving as -ahem- secretary to her husband:

Speaking publicly for the first time since the news of the alleged affair became public, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, 37, told PEOPLE, “You cannot believe everything you read in the press.” When asked directly if she had an affair with Twain’s husband, music producer Robert “Mutt” Lange, she replied, “No.”

That contradicts several sources close to the situation, who say Thiébaud and Lange left their spouses for each other and continue to maintain a romantic relationship. Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, who have a 6-year-old son, Eja, announced their separation May 15. Since then, the “You’re Still the One” singer – “devastated” by the revelations, according to sources – has sought refuge with family in her native Canada.

Thiébaud began working for the ultra-private couple after they moved to Switzerland in 2000, acting as their personal assistant, secretary and manager of their vast château. By all accounts, she became one of Twain’s closest confidants. The two attended the 2006 Swiss Red Cross Ball together (PEOPLE’s exclusive first photos of Thiébaud showed the pair at the event, posing together and smiling).

[From People.com]

Maybe the mistress, who was also married when she began the alleged affair with Shania’s husband, doesn’t think it’s cheating if they were each having problems with their other relationships. Or maybe the woman has no qualms about lying to the press. Why would Shania smear this person and her husband if they weren’t cheating? I believe her, but it’s also between her and her husband and we have no way of verifying the story. They have a six year-old son together though and he’s bound to read all about this when he’s of age. Still, I would probably do the same thing if I was in Shania’s position. (As much as I like to think I would take the high road.)

Picture note: The photo that’s on the front page of the site and leads into this story is of Shania at the “Walk The Line” premiere in 2005.

Dylan McDermott is divorcing

Dylan McDermott, the lawyer who appeared on The Practice for seven years, is divorcing. It seems that playing a lawyer on television gives you some kind of law degree, because he’s also planning on representing himself.

McDermott, 46, filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Shiva Rose, earlier this month.

According to the New York Post, the actor — who spent seven years playing a litigator on the hit TV show “The Practice” — will be handling the case in propria persona, acting as his own attorney.

The star has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, following his announcement of the pair’s separation in September last year.

San Francisco Chronicle

Dylan and his wife Shiva Rose, who is really quite beautiful, were married since 1995, and have a 12-year-old daughter Collette Blu and a 2-year-old daughter Charlotte Rose. He will be requesting joint custody.

It seems strange to me to represent yourself in court, but I guess if your divorce is going to be reasonably simple, and there’s no particular reason for you not to share custody of your children, it would save a lot of legal fees.

I wouldn’t recommend representing yourself to everyone though.

I wonder if Dylan will start stalking around the courtroom like they tend to do on American legal shows - I think that isn’t allowed in a real life court.

Dylan McDermott and Shiva Rose are shown at the 2007 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on 2/25/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Denise Richards says Charlie Sheen altered “sperm donor” e-mail

Denise Richards was on Larry King yesterday, and in case you’re wondering how a washup-up actress who’s launching a reality show is scoring an interview on Larry King, Larry mentioned his “friend” Ryan Seacrest, who is producing the show, at the beginning of the interview. (Seacrest is rumored to be replacing King when the talk show host inevitably retires.)

Richards went over the same old tired ground she always treads: her friendship with Heather Locklear was over before she was with Richie Sambora; Heather and Richie had split before she started dating him; her ex husband Charlie Sheen is spreading lies about her, etc.

People Magazine is reporting that Richards told Matt Lauer on The Today Show, that the e-mail she sent to Charlie Sheen’s girlfriend, Brooke Mueller, reportedly asking for Charlie’s sperm to have another child with him was doctored and that’s not what she wrote. Mueller and Sheen claim that Richards was trying to reconcile with Sheen and was rejected, but now she’s saying that e-mail was changed to make it out to be something it wasn’t. This is the same thing she said on Larry King Live, but she didn’t sound convincing at all to me. King had to press her to get her to answer the question, and she did it in a roundabout way:

KING: Our guest is Denise Richards. Her new reality show, “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated,” premiers on E on May 26th. I want to further clarify something. Someone said that there’s supposed to be an e-mail about sperm and you and what is it?

RICHARDS: You know what? Like I said, every chance that Charlie tries to discredit me or say negative things about me in the press, he does. And the fact of the matter is I have no desire to have another child with Charlie. Nothing against his sperm. I have two beautiful kids but I don’t want anymore of it.

KING: There’s no e-mail that exists –

RICHARDS: No truthful e-mail that exists.

KING: Is this supposed to be an e-mail from you to him?

RICHARDS: There’s supposed to be an e-mail from me to his girlfriend.

KING: Saying?

RICHARDS: Saying that I want his sperm and wanted to get back together, which — the date of that e-mail, I was with Richie. So if I wanted anyone’s sperm, it would have been Richie’s sperm, not Charlie’s.

KING: I — so this is a phony e-mail, you think?

RICHARDS: This is a doctored e-mail.

KING: Doctored e-mail?

RICHARDS: Yes.

[From Transcripts.CNN.com]

She doesn’t deny it right away, she says they’re trying to smear her, she was with Richie Sambora based on the “date of the e-mail.” If she didn’t send it, why didn’t she say straight away “they faked that e-mail and changed what I wrote.” She skirts around it instead and only says the e-mail is doctored once King prompts her.

And today she told Matt Lauer flat out that the e-mail was doctored. It sounds to me like she’s trying to get her story straight:

“That e-mail is not legitimate,” Richards, 37, told interviewer Matt Lauer. “It’s a doctored e-mail. I would never send an e-mail to his … girlfriend, and, at the time of that e-mail, I was with Richie [Sambora]. If I wanted anybody’s sperm, I’d have asked for Richie’s.”

[From People.com]

Again, she’s relying on the date of the e-mail and saying she was with Richie so why would she say that? It just sounds fishy.

As for Sambora, Richards told Larry King that “Richie and I are still friends. We will always be friends,” but she said she doesn’t communicate with Charlie and “I do not know this person. And I have children with him.”

On Sambora’s DUI, Richards said “He made a mistake. He feels terrible about it. And the irony is he’s — with the whole child endangerment, he’s an amazing father. And he’s stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for his mistake.”

Ironic how she defends a guy she dated for less than a year for getting a DUI with his daughter in the car but attacks the husband and father of her two children every chance she gets. Sheen isn’t an innocent party in all this, but the more Richards talks the better he looks.
