Scarlett Johansson v. Jessica Biel at the ‘Hitchcock’ premiere: who looked better?

Can you feel it? Can you feel the “one of these things is not like the other” discomfort come upon you? Ordinarily, Scarlett Johansson might be the odd woman out in a group that involved Helen Mirren and Toni Collette. But not when Jessica Biel is also included in the group. Jessica Biel makes ScaJo look like Lee Strasberg, I swear to God. Anyway, these are some photos from last night’s screening/premiere of Hitchcock in NYC. The star of the film – Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock – was not in attendance, leaving the spotlight for the ladies (one exception: James D’Arcy!). Let’s get to the fashion, shall we?

Jessica Biel in Oscar de la Renta. DEAR GOD. This is what a retiree in Florida would wear to play Bingo. This is Biel’s first red carpet as a married woman… and this is what she comes up with? I really hope Justin Timberlake did not cosign this look.

Scarlett Johansson in Rodarte, with fug Gucci shoes. I dislike the dress and the shoes. I don’t understand why Scarlett has such problems understanding what flatters her body. Also: Page Six has a little tidbit about ScarJo this morning. Apparently, she was seen having dinner with a “mystery man” last Thursday. He was described as “dark-haired and slightly taller than her but skinny” and “he may have been speaking French at one point.” New (French?) boyfriend?

Helen Mirren is a goddess, but I’m not totally crazy about her gold-and-black ensemble. Everything from the neck up looks great, though.

I generally like Toni Collette’s hair when it’s darker, but this is a solid look for her – I think she enjoys more avant-garde looks, so it’s nice seeing her in a simple, pretty LBD.

James D’Arcy! He plays Anthony Perkins in the film. He’s so beautiful. I love him.

Ke$ha cleans up her act, goes glam at the AMAs: does she pull it off?

Another week, another music awards ceremony that really doesn’t mean anything. I was thinking about that last night as I was waiting for The Good Wife to come on, flipping between Ken Burns’ The Dust Bowl (excellent) and the American Music Awards (boring). How can someone like me, a person who is obsessed with movie awards and movie awards shows, find music awards shows so damn boring? They’re just tedious because I don’t believe the actual awards are reflective of how good the music is, or how good the artists are, nor are they a reflection of how well any given artist is actually selling. I guess you could make a similar argument for movie awards, but I guess I’m always going to find a Best Actor winner compelling and I’m never going to interested in seeing an acceptance speech from Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift.

So, let’s get to the fashion of the AMAs. Everybody is talking about Kesha (Ke$ha) in this… unknown dress. It looks like D&G to me, but I could totally be wrong. Everyone is like, “OMG, she looks so clean!” But Kesha has been looking a lot cleaner lately. I’m not saying she’s trying to go full-on glam, but she is trying to revamp her image, and she has been trying for months. She looks good! But I always liked her.

Nicki Minaj in the same chartreuse Monique Lhuillier that everyone has been wearing. If it looks familiar, it’s because Julie Bowen wore the same dress to the Emmys this year. That being said, it kind of suits Nicki.

Pink and Carey Hart look so nice. Isn’t it weird that Pink is like “Establishment rock n’ roll” at this point? She’s like the old lady at the AMAs. Yes, I hate myself for writing that. Anyway, I’m not crazy about her dress, but whatever.

And here’s Carrie Underwood, who simply doesn’t know what she’s doing unless she spends half of any given awards show in a dressing room changing into multiple ensembles. For the AMA red carpet, she wore an Abed Mahfouz Fall 2012 gown (the long purple-ish gown). For her AMA win and press pool, she wore this short blue HOT MESS.

Kristen Stewart in Elie Saab at the Berlin ‘BD 2′ premiere: glamorous or showgirl-y?

Here are some photos from what I believe is the absolute last premiere of all of the Twilight crap. Right? They were in Berlin on Friday, and these are pics from the evening premiere. Kristen wore this gold Elie Saab. It’s… ugh. I mean, it’s not completely awful. But I have a real question: is this really Kristen’s new style? I didn’t have a big problem with her old red carpet style (not he everyday style!) – it was more conservative, and she tended to err on the side of “slightly more mature than she should dress.” But with this promotional tour, it feels like Kristen has gone all showgirl-glam. Too much skin showing, too much glitter and sequins and spangles and shadowy biscuits. This Elie Saab feels more like a throwback to her older style, but it’s still rather showgirl-y. It’s weird.

Kristen wore Christian Louboutin heels/booties/whatever for the red carpet, but she switched those out quickly when it came to introduce the film to the Berlin audience. By that point, Kristen was wearing some beat-up oxfords and her Balenciaga leather jacket. Weird look, right? Something nice: her hair looks great pulled back and her makeup person doesn’t hate her anymore.

By the way, BD2 is on track to make a lot of money, but I can’t tell if the film is actually out-performing previous Twilight films. In its first 24 hours, the box office was $72.1 million, slightly shy of the $72.7 million made in the first 24 hours of New Moon. This is apparently the sixth biggest opening in America ever, so it’s still “record-breaking” but it’s not blowing every other record out of the water. Summit’s in-house prediction is that this film will make around $135 million, but earlier last week, I heard predictions of $160 million or above, so maybe Summit is just trying to mess with our expectations and claim victory in any case. I guess Kristen and Rob did their duties – they smiled for the cameras and got back together and everyone believes in true love, etc, etc. Breakup by New Year’s?

Katy Perry in floral D&G at the Dream Foundation gala: pretty or too serious?

Katy Perry

Last night, Katy Perry was recognized by the Dream Foundation at its annual gala for her efforts to “bring awareness to the importance of lending a hand to dreams that involve children who are facing the impending loss of a parent,” which is nice, and I can’t bag on Katy for being involved with such a cause. Where her fashion sense is concerned, however, Katy is still fair game for mockery. For the gala, she wore a full-length, floral Dolce & Gabbana dress, and the effect is rather underwhelming. Granted, Katy has been attempting to project a more grown-up look these days through a series of more serious (faux-gothy) and somewhat boring gowns. I can appreciate that she’s no longer pulling the fetishy, cotton-candy gimmick with her outfit choices, but the sudden move into more mature territory is off-putting at best.

Overall, this was an appropriate look for a gala, and since there were probably children present at the event, it’s nice that Katy didn’t oversexualize herself by having her rack or butt cheeks hanging out. I don’t really like the heaviness that her new hair extentions lend to her dyed-black hair. Maybe an updo with a few loose, curled tendrils would have been prettier. Her makeup was also typically masklike, but those chunky green earrings are a nice touch and all the more reason for an updo.

Katy’s dress did look better in motion than it did while posing on the red carpet.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino at the Cinematheque Awards: lovely or dated?

These are some new photos of JustJen! HUZZAH! Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux attended the American Cinematheque 26th Annual Award Presentation To Ben Stiller at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills last night – both of them are pretty tight with Ben Stiller, so it makes sense. Jennifer wore this Valentino dress that is like the long version of the 1980s cocktail dress that Julia Roberts wore in Mystic Pizza. Justin looks good here, I think – not overly-groomed, not too fake-tanned. Jennifer looks… um… lip injections, right?

Anyway, here’s a real question: is Jennifer Aniston fundamentally an evil person who turns wholesome men into whipped, cynical, try-hard poseurs with her Biscuit of Doom? You read that correctly – I said ANISTON. Not Angelina. Oh, how the tables have turned, Jen-Hens! Star Magazine seems to be asking that question – once again, about ANISTON! – in a story about how all of Justin Theroux’s old friends think he’s totally changed now that he’s on The Good Ship Aniston. Apparently, when he was with Heidi Bivens, he was social and friendly and outgoing, but nowadays he just follows Jennifer around and she won’t let him talk to any of his friends. Boo!

Jennifer Aniston has turned her fiancé Justin Theroux into a stuck-up snob! Justin’s pals say Jennifer took the actor from mellow and friendly to arrogant and self-absorbed. During a recent birthday bash hosted by actor Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher in their LA home, several guests commented on the cold demeanor of both Jennifer and Justin.

“They kept to themselves all night and avoided talking to all of Sacha and Isla’s other guests. It was really awkward since it was such a small party. Jen and Justin were so antisocial, they stuck out like sore thumbs.”

Justin’s behavior became especially unbearable after he popped the question to Jen, pals reveal to Star.

“Before their engagement, Justin was very friendly. Now you’re lucky if you get a high five out of him. Before Jen, his friends were a priority, even though he was in a relationship then too. Now she controls his every move and they’re together nonstop. His pals feel like he’s completely turned his back on them.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

To be fair to Jennifer, one of Justin’s oldest and closest friends seems to have been “Uncle/Pervert” Terry Richardson, so maybe Jennifer was wise to force him (with her Biscuit of Doom) to cull some of his friendships. As for how Justin and Jennifer were supposedly acting at Sacha Baron Cohen’s party… I don’t know. It sounds weird. You know that group of people always hangs out together all the time, right? It’s Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Sacha, Justin, Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer, Balthazaar and Rosetta Getty, Ben Stiller and his wife, Laura Dern and sometimes Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. That’s the tight-knit little group that functions as “the cool group” in the junior high school that is Hollywood. I imagine it would get boring to spend every weekend socializing in that small little group, but whatever.

PS… Did Justin make People Magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” list this year? He made it last year! Maybe he was just pouting about that.

Kristen Stewart in chrome yellow Dior in Madrid: great look or too bright?

As many of you have noticed, I don’t really care for dresses or gowns in yellow or orange. Mostly orange – I rarely think orange is a flattering color on anyone. Sometimes yellow can work, though. Is it working here, on Kristen Stewart at the Madrid premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2? I can’t decide. The minidress is Christian Dior… I wonder if Dior makes it any other colors? I could see it in black or blue on Salma Hayek or Marion Cotillard. I think the cut of the dress actually suits Kristen rather well, surprisingly enough. And maybe the yellow is just “chrome” or “electric” enough to work. Before I get to anything else, I just have to show you this wonderful photo that actually made me LOL:

Right? Perfect photo is perfect.

Anyway, did you know Kristen Stewart has an oral fixation? True story. Doesn’t it all make sense now?! She pretty much admitted that during a recent appearance on Conan O’Brien’s show where they discussed how she quit smoking:

Kristen Stewart called herself out on Conan Wednesday night. The 22-year-old actress recently quit smoking, but told host Conan O’Brien that it really wasn’t that difficult for her — because she wasn’t really a smoker to begin with.

“I was a bit of a faker, a circumstantial smoker,” she argued. “I just feel like I wasn’t addicted to nicotine,” Stewart explained. Struggling to find the right words, she eventually gave up and added, “I just wanted something in my mouth.”

Red-faced after her R-rated pun, she asked O’Brien, “Why did I do that?” O’Brien joked, “I’m glad for the Internet that you did do that.”

The actress also chatted with O’Brien about the new style of filming for the vampire sex scenes in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 where they shot just a close-up of her face. “It’s nice to see your own reflection while your making ‘shmexy’ faces,” she said sarcastically. “It’s absolutely absurd, actually.”

“It’s got me now thinking that I want to shoot myself, just my face,” O’Brien joked.

“I want to shoot myself,” Stewart quipped.

The interview was previously recorded, as Stewart is overseas attending the film’s premieres. The actress walked the red carpet in a sheer, black lace Zuhair Murad bodysuit on Wednesday at the London premiere.

On the London red carpet, Stewart told Us Weekly that the fan support throughout the films has meant a lot to her. “That’s honestly been, I mean, to sustain energy on one project in five years is pretty remarkable, and we wouldn’t have been able to do that if we were the only fans of it,” she said. “But to look over your shoulder and see a million people doing that with you is insane and amazing and contagious. Once in a lifetime.”

And she was thrilled to finally play a vampire in the final film — except for those vampire contacts.

“Those red contacts are awul — like, tunnel vision, wallpaper eyes,” she told reporters. “I think I’ve been sitting around for years watching everyone else do it. I’ve played [Bella] every step of the way as a human, so that final one made so much sense to me, I was raring to go.”

[From Us Weekly]

So Kristen and Rob quit smoking at the same time? It was claimed that Rob has quit before he found out about The Mini-Coopering, but then he took it up again during the bad period, and then he quit again. I guess that was part of their “getting back together” clause – no smoking! Of course, I don’t really buy it. I think they’ll be back to ciggies soon enough. It’s a hard habit to break, especially when you constantly need to be sucking on something. Cough. I wonder what Rupert is up to? Cough.

AAAHHH!! She’s smiling!! *crosses self*

Liberty Ross goes braless in a navy silk suit in London: lovely or trashy?

Here are some new photos of Liberty Ross in London last night, where she was seen and photographed at two events. One, she went to Kate Moss’s book launch and two, Liberty made an appearance at the designer Pudsey Bear collection auction, which raised over £150,000 for the charity Children in Need. This is the first time we’ve had photos of Liberty since her (sketchy?) Catwoman costume for Halloween, in which she donned a really sexy latex catsuit (with nothing underneath) to go trick-or-treating with her kids and her estranged husband, Rupert Sanders.

I think it’s interesting that Liberty keeps finding excuses to fly to New York and London. I don’t believe she wants to be in LA, where she and Rupert are consulting lawyers and maybe going to couples counseling and where their children go to school. I think her instinct is to move back to London, but she feels like she has to give her marriage one last shot before she makes the move. That’s just my take on it – I have no idea if I’m right. But she still makes the trip to London often enough, doesn’t she?

Anyway, I do like Liberty’s suit. You can really tell that she spend years as a model – she has an interesting eye for clothes, and she wears her clothes with a lightness, like she’s very comfortable with her body and she would be fine with walking around naked. I love the color of the suit, but I’m not crazy about the sateen or whatever. Still, the fabric looks marvelously un-wrinkled on her, doesn’t it? And her skin looks AMAZING. Personally, I think Liberty’s “revenge” has been “looking really sexy and beautiful and reminding Rupert and the world that she still has a lot of important friends.”

PS… Is she still wearing her wedding ring? I always forget to look. Probably because I don’t think Ring Watch is interesting or telling.

Kristen Stewart in a Zuhair Murad jumpsuit at ‘BD2′ UK premiere: slightly improved?

These are photos of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson at the London premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2 last night. Call me crazy, but I don’t hate this Zuhair Murad jumpsuit as much as I hated the Murad booty gown from the LA premiere. Obviously, the LA premiere gown was a total disaster, what with its illusion-biscuit and “Am I looking at her a–hole?” vibe. While this jumpsuit places an emphasis on the butt as well, I do think this is a better look overall. At least I did until I got to the side-view:

YIKES. Lace insets down the sides of the legs? NO. Still not as bad as the nude lace dress, but Murad needs to stop designing looks that are quite so reminiscent of Marchesa. Ugh. Also: does anyone else wonder why Kristen is no longer wearing Balenciaga? She’s still the face of the perfume, and up until the day when creative director (and K-Stew’s friend and champion) Nicholas Ghesquiere’s departure from the brand was announced, Kristen was wearing a lot of Balenciaga. Why didn’t Balenciaga send her any clothes for the premiere? Did something go down with Ghesquiere?

Meanwhile, In Touch Weekly says that Kristen and Rob are going to break up as soon as the promotional tour is over. DUH.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have reconciled their relationship since she cheated on him, even having been caught kissing at her house! The two are reunited on the red carpet, but it may not be for good, if a new report is to be believed.

In Touch magazine claims that Rob, 26, is planning to dump Kristen, 22, for good once their obligations to the Twilight Saga are complete.

“He’s been waiting for all the promotion for Breaking Dawn — Part 2 to be over, and then he’s going to move on fully,” a source tells the publication. “He won’t have a tie to her after all this is done, and then he won’t be forced to see her.”

It seems that Rob’s broken trust in Kristen hasn’t fully healed, and no matter how much he cares for her, he can’t get over it.

“Rob loves her; he always will. But it’s over in his mind,” the insider says. “For any relationship to survive, there has to be trust. And Kristen lost Rob’s.”

[From Hollywood Life]

If wishing made it so… sigh. I doubt it will happen like this, but I would be pleased to no end if this did happen. My current thinking is that Glitter Butt Stewart will dump Rob in a month or two. Or she’ll get caught in another cheating scandal and Rob’s Man Card will be lost forever and ever.

Kristen Stewart in ‘illusion’ Julien MacDonald in Madrid: budget or cute?

There was a minor scandal a’brewing at the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere in London last night. Other photo agencies got photos of Rob and Kristen posing together on the red carpet, and most UK sites ran with version of “Rob and Kristen hold hands at premiere – PROOF!” But, as Celeb Dirty Laundry points out, “Rob is clearly trying to pry Kristen’s fist open; with a smile no less.” Not so much holding hands as Kristen being an unaffectionate lip-biter who makes a tight fist with her hand when Rob tries to touch her? That’s our Kristen!

So maybe the studio people told her to lighten up and play along. Because here are new pics of Kristen, Rob and Taylor Lautner at the BD2 photocall in Madrid, Spain, and Kristen is looking much more affectionate. She even rested her head on Rob’s shoulder at one point. PROOF! TWIHARD PROOF!

Kristen’s dress is Julien MacDonald and her heels are Jerome Rousseau. I swear, I thought the dress was one of Stella McCartney’s budget “illusion” dresses. I think MacDonald just copied Stella’s (horrible) design and then just added boob fur. Also: she really needs to stop making fists with her hands when she’s posing. It makes her look angry, right? She’s so hardcore! PROOF!

PS… I hate Rob’s haircut. It makes him look like a Gomer.

Keira Knightley’s custom- made Erdem gown in LA: gorgeous & flattering?

These are photos of Keira Knightley at last night’s LA premiere of Anna Karenina. Keira is wearing this absolutely gorgeous Erdem gown. It was custom-made for Keira and it’s beautiful. I wouldn’t think to put her in a pale mint green, but it suits her. I also love that it’s not the same “long-sleeved ball gown with a fitted, lacy/sheer bodice” type of dress that she’s been wearing a lot lately. Now, is this Erdem a little bit too fancy for an LA premiere? Perhaps. But she’s the star and it’s Anna Karenina, you know? I’m trying to include different angles on the dress so you can see it properly.

Anna Karenina is Keira’s third outing with director Joe Wright. They first worked together on an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, which I loved, and then Atonement, which I hated – although it had nothing to do with Keira. I just hated the story and I think Ian McEwan’s work is vastly overrated. Rotten Tomatoes is currently scoring AK at a 64% by all critics and a 30% by top critics. So… it might be another Atonement. But I still want to see it, if only for the costumes and set pieces. I also think Keira will definitely get a Best Actress nomination at the Golden Globes, and she might even be a contender for an Oscar nomination – just because I think the Academy really likes her, and they like “big” roles.
